Lee Jun Hyuk continues his usual work life despite winning lottery in 'The Ordinary Jackpot'
The Netflix series The Scandal has been announced to premiere on September 18.
The Scandal tells the story of Lady Cho (Son Ye Jin), a woman whose extraordinary talents make her ill-suited to the life prescribed for women in the Joseon era; Cho Won (Ji Chang Wook), Joseon's biggest ladies' man; and Hee Yeon (Nana), a woman entangled in their audacious, dangerous, escalating deceit.
The Scandal is an adaptation of French writer Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' 1782 novel "Dangerous Liaisons", reimagined in the Joseon era.
The teaser posters capture the three characters entangled in a secretive wager of seduction as though they were part of a painting.
The image of Lady Cho (Son Ye Jin) sitting inside an inner chamber filled with red, lavishly blooming flowers raises questions about why she, a respectable noblewoman from the scholar-official class, came to propose the wager and what desires she harbors.
True to his reputation as Joseon's biggest ladies' man, Cho Won (Ji Chang Wook) sits confidently, piquing curiosity over whether he will be able to win the wager and obtain what he desires.
Meanwhile, Hee Yeon (Nana), wearing a sorrowful expression amid profusely blooming plum blossoms, adds to the intrigue surrounding what fate awaits her after unknowingly becoming the object of the wager.
Adding to the mystery is the phrase, "Desire What Is Forbidden," which heightens curiosity over how the wager — one that defies the taboos of the era and drives each character to reveal their desires — will ultimately end.
Director Jung Ji Woo explained, "I didn't simply want the structure of a melodrama. I built the story around protagonists who possess the modern sense of self- awareness in the question, 'Who am I?'"
