Ryu Hye Young to possibly star alongside Song Kang, Kim So Hyun in new drama

Kim Se Jeong, Bae Hyun Sung, and Cho Han Gyeol are confirmed cast for the upcoming drama High School Queen.
On July 31, Studio Dragon announced, "Studio Dragon is producing High School Queen, a refreshing action romance that combines the novel premise of 'a Joseon Queen consort teaching 21st-century villains a lesson' with the exciting collaboration of Kim Se Jeong, Bae Hyun Sung, and Cho Han Gyeol."
Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name, High School Queen follows Kim Chung Ha — Joseon's Queen consort and its greatest warrior — who is reincarnated as a modern-day high school girl. Exploiting her Joseon-era martial arts skills, she takes down school bullies.
Kim Se Jeong takes on the role of Kim Chung Ha, the Joseon Dynasty's greatest female warrior and an indomitable queen. After awakening in the body of Kim Da Jin, a high school girl who has been bullied at school, Kim Chung Ha begins taking down the villains who have ruled the school unchecked, armed with the dignity of a queen and the instincts of a seasoned warrior.
Kim Se Jeong shared, "I felt this character embodies the many different sides of the roles I've played throughout my career, so I'm preparing for it with both excitement and a sense of responsibility.
It's a project that offers significant thrills through not only each character's story but also the episodes that unfold every week, so I've been putting in a great deal of practice, including acting and action training." She added, "I'll do my very best until the very end so that, through the character of Chung Ha, I can bring viewers great entertainment and heartfelt emotion."
Bae Hyun Sung will take on dual roles as Seong Won Ju, the royal guard who harbors feelings for Kim Chung Ha, and Seong Si Woo, the ace of the school's kendo club.
Bae Hyun Sung shared, "I found the story itself fascinating and entertaining, as it blends action, romance, and fantasy. Since the series moves between the past and the present, I'm looking forward to showing viewers many different sides of myself." He added, "I'll work hard to prepare so that I can greet viewers with a great project."
Cho Han Gyeol will play dual roles as King Lee Nyeong, the absolute ruler of Joseon, and Lee Do Yoon, a mysterious transfer student.
Cho Han Gyeol said, "I'm honored and thrilled to be part of such a wonderful project as High School Queen. I was truly excited when I heard the casting news, and I'm already looking forward to filming each day. I'll prepare diligently and do my best to show you a great performance, so I hope you'll give the series lots of anticipation and support."
High School Queen is scheduled to premiere as a TVING original series in 2027.
