Park Sung Woong, Park Soo Oh, and director Hyun Sol Ip share insights on their upcoming short drama Ahead Coach's Turnover.
Ahead Coach's Turnover is a comedy that follows Maeng Gong (Park Sung Woong), a basketball coach facing expulsion due to poor performance, and his malicious commenter, Hwa Jin (Park Soo Oh), who join hands to improve the team's performance.
Director Hyun Sol Ip introduced the K-drama by saying, "It's a story about two people who seem like they could never be on the same team, gradually becoming a strong team," adding, "It's a bright and warm production that families can enjoy together."
Park Sung Woong, who plays the role of Maeng Gong, introduced his character by saying, "He's a coach facing the crisis of elimination from the playoffs for three consecutive years. He's a former star player, like coach Hur Jae [renowned South Korean basketball coach], and was even on the national team." He added with a laugh, "He's the kind of coach who can't stand seeing his players make mistakes, so he yells and scolds them — but at home, he's a doting dad. He's so much like me that I didn't even have to act."
Park Soo Oh, who plays the role of the troll Ko Hwa Jin, described his character as "an analyst who dislikes coach Maeng but also knows his strengths and weaknesses well — a true 'basketball expert.'" He added, "Across episodes 1 and 2, I plan to show the character's variety of sides."
Ahead Coach's Turnover is set to air on May 23 and 24 on Viki.
