On May 26, a press conference for the upcoming K-movie The Eyes was held in Seoul. Attendees included Shin Min Ah, Kim Nam Hee, Lee Seung Ryong, Kim Young Ah, and director Yeom Ji Ho.

The Eyes is a suspense thriller that follows Seo Jin, who is slowly losing her eyesight due to a hereditary disease, as she investigates the suspicious circumstances surrounding her twin sibling's death.

In the film, Shin Min Ah takes on two roles: Seo Jin, a photographer who is losing her vision due to a hereditary disease while investigating her twin sibling's death, and Seo In, Seo Jin's twin sibling who overcame visual impairment to become a successful ceramic artist but later meets a mysterious death.

The scene director Yeom Ji Ho put the most effort into to convey the theme of "gaze and obsession" was the opening sequence. "It takes place in Seo Jin's studio. There's a certain vibe when photographing human eyes, and then Hyun Min suddenly barges in, and Seo Jin feels a sense of fear. I made the opening sequence in a way that lets viewers immediately understand what kind of film this is," he explained.

He also spoke about the setting of the visually impaired character. "Although this is a film, it required a medical perspective as well, so we also consulted an ophthalmologist. That was to better understand what people with visual impairments experience... We worked hard to find the right balance and executed it well."

Speaking about why she chose to appear in the film, Shin Min Ah said, "After reading the script, I felt it would be a thriller [which would evoke] a wide range of emotions. It's a dual role, but while investigating her sibling's death, she is also gradually losing her eyesight, which brings a sense of fear. I found the fear of being chased by someone intriguing."

Regarding taking on the dual roles, Shin Min Ah said, "Although Seo In and Seo Jin have the same face, they have quite different personalities. Both share the common experience of losing their eyesight, but Seo Jin harbors complex feelings toward Seo In. In some ways, there's also a feeling of inferiority. As her sister disappears, Seo Jin herself also begins to change, and I tried to portray those subtle shifts."

She continued, "While filming, there were scenes where I was wrapped in bandages, and to portray someone who cannot see properly, I practiced keeping one eye focused in a different direction. Through that, I could indirectly feel Seo Jin's frustration and the fear that comes with the inability to see. I tried hard to bring those aspects to life."

Speaking about the difficulties of playing the character, Shin Min Ah shared, "We discussed a lot, and in scenes where my eyes were covered with bandages, it was frustrating and difficult because I couldn't see. There were also many scenes where the character is startled or runs away due to feeling threatened by various people and is under pressure to uncover something; it was physically demanding."

In addition to The Eyes, Shin Min Ah has recently been active in a variety of thriller projects. She said, "It's not so much that I've only recently started liking it, but I've wanted to keep doing thriller projects for quite some time. It's also a genre through which I want to show more sides of myself whenever the opportunity arises. If there are good thrillers in the future, I'd definitely like to take part in them."

The Eyes is scheduled to premiere on June 24.
