Jang Mi Ran
Jang Mi Ran became O Jeong Hui’s step-daughter after Jeong Hui remarried. While Jeong Hui stands at the very top of the industry as Korea’s leading actress, Mi Ran remains a step below, struggling under the constant pressure of her mother’s towering reputation. The shadow of Jeong Hui’s fame has left a deep emotional rift between them.
Jeong Hui believes an actor’s greatest strength is their aura and carefully maintains distance from the public, but Mi Ran is the complete opposite. She wears her emotions openly and refuses to follow her mother’s advice, which only frustrates Jeong Hui further. Her biggest flaw, however, is her acting itself. It’s not that she lacks skill in the usual sense. Instead, she throws herself too deeply into every role. When her character says she loves someone, she genuinely falls in love with her co-star. When she’s meant to hate someone, she begins to truly despise them.
Because of that reckless sincerity, Mi Ran often ends up surrounding herself with the industry’s misfits, including figures like Hwang Dong Man and Byeon Eun A, people widely dismissed as the fringe of the film world.
