Park Gyeong Se

Fictional Character

For him, everything began with one thought: “You and I are not the same.” That belief sparked an endless rivalry with Hwang Dong Man. They may have gone to the same school and the same film club, but that doesn’t make them equals. While Dong Man has spent twenty years failing to debut as a director, he has already released five films. To him, the difference is obvious. Yet Dong Man keeps hovering around as if they’re on the same level, and that is something he cannot stand.

In his eyes, Dong Man talks so much because he’s desperate to prove his own worth. Always pointing out the flaws in others while trying to convince everyone, and maybe even himself, that he still has value. It’s like pressing the accelerator while the car is stuck in park: all that energy, going nowhere. Watching it is exhausting.

And deep down, he carries a harsh wish he rarely admits out loud. Part of him hopes Dong Man never makes his debut. That the gap between them stays exactly as it is. Because every time he lashes out at him in anger, the guilt comes creeping back. Sometimes, he thinks it would simply be easier to live in a world where Hwang Dong Man doesn’t exist.
