the ending - your thoughts

I really enjoyed this drama. I will be looking out for more work from many of these actors, especially the ML.

The ending. I guess I didn’t really need the sugar coated bit at the end. I was ok with ML dying because it was reasonable given all his body had been through. And given that it’s a cdrama I was ok with him holding that little bit of soul to continue her life.

That final snippet was sweet though, and I’m glad I got to see him again. 💕

Its HE, :-

1. Concept of painting

-From the East,“The Wall-Painting” from the political satire and moralistic classic, “Strange Tales of Liaozhai” by Qing author, Pu Songling.It has 490 stories, 2 are famous. ”Painted Skin” and “Romance Of A Ghost Maiden” which was changed to “A Chinese Ghost Story” when it was made into that famous movie in 1987.

1. “The Wall-Painting”, about 2 scholars who visited an ancient temple in a remote place, tended by an old monk. They noticed that there were many wall paintings.of gods and fairies. 1 such fairy caught the eye of I scholar. He stared fascinated . The others wandered off. Suddenly, he felt himself floating up the wall and entered the painting. He met his fairy and confessed his love. The fairy reciprocated. They had a 3 days  love affair as on 3rd day, they were visited by her other fairies friends . She was teased for still having a same hairstyle.(Hair style for virgins are 2 buns at side.)They made her up and change hair style to a single bun on top of her head .Suddenly they heard a loud shouting.She told him to hide under the bed.The fairies went out to met an angry guarding shouting , looking for a mortal.Meanwhile he took a nap and woke when he heard his name being called loudly.Suddenly he felt himself floating down. Met his friend and the monk and told them his story.They looked up and saw that the fairy has changed hair style. (The painting is another dimension in time and space).

-From the West, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”,a Gothic, horror story by Victorian author Oscar Wilde. (An indestructible painting and another story of a different dimension in time and space).

2. Concept of souls.

Taoism.-believed that when a person dies ,separation into 3 souls.1 soul in  the entombed body at the grave, another moves to the afterlife and 1 at the ancestral tablet. Since the main leads don't have descendants to pray for them, they were at the scroll.

Also political satire have HE, as were many of “ Strange Tales of Liaozhai”. (Pu Songling lived under Manchus /Qing ,who conquered China and oppressed and suppressed the Hans).

And lastly, the writer and director, made it clear it was HE, with the main leads kissing in the last frame.

Was it coincidentally in Dec? When people made New Year resolutions ? 

 Push negatives out, so that new positivities can come in .,

I' m supporting  justice for Yu Mangling  as even from the day 1 ,when  it  was announced he died on 11/9/25. Many odds don't add up. It's like from even epi.1 , drama is asking viewers to suspend logic .Except this is real life.
Within 12 hours , the police announced "no foul play"? It's either accidental falling or he committed suicide. No need for further investigation or wait for a forensic report? So quick to close the case. 6 so-called "friends" at that  Hongmen Banquet of dinner and drinks were eye-witnesses, yet  police didn't dare identify them, for some of  them later  denied being there with threats of suing and 1 even got an alibi ready that he left after dinner.  No news media ever dare to interview them. In fact there  was no news coverage at all , news only broke of his death when a blogger went to take some photos and interviewed residents and later in the evening his agency announced his death. YML was never diagnosed as having depression, yet police can conclude that after dinner and merry drinking, he suddenly wanted to commit suicide. Not at his own home but in "friend" place? Also if he was  so drunk ,he can pry open a window screen netting (photo of broken screen taken) to accidentally fall? News blackout. Cover-up conspiracy started. Any social media platforms like Weibo, Douyin  etc  which wrote his case were immediately deleted .His fans had to seek outside social media platforms  for help. Slowly  seeping out throughout the weeks that follow, the reasons of news blackout.  His agency was pimping employees to rich and high echelons govt. officials, money laundering c entre using employees' names for shell companies, and later on  embezzlement of public funds and CCP political  in fighting. Truth  suddenly becoming stranger than friction. News blackout. Believable as even MDL announcement was written on 29/9/25.    WHY  WOULD GOVT. MACHINERY BE UTILISED TO SUCH AN EXTENT AGAINST A MERE ACTOR? (Not even a traffic star, S++ budget, only in small  web series)UNLESS IT INVOLVES GOVT. WRONG -DOINGS.

Behind the picture of Yu Meng long as an actor , lies years of  being sidelined  into small web series  because he refused rich investor proposal and thereafter  years of torment for keeping to his principles and values.

Have to analyse actions done or not done, circumstantial evidences and facts to concur before drawing the conclusion he's a decoy or a victim or a corruptor? Since supporting justice for YuMenglong, have been seeing new light on some actors and actresses, good or bad, connected to his case. Looks certainly is deceptive ,seemly proud  beneath kind- respect more, while seemly sweet and cute beneath cold-blooded and selfish-boycott even if a  hit.   Waiting for further developments  in his case when the CCP general meeting is held at the end of the month.

It's November and updating. Many events have taken place and I  have done some research. Are you still following his case?
What do  you think of starting a new thread under  JUSTICE for Yu Menglong as this thread was for the ending of this drama ?

Please start that and share the facts. I can only read English and not Mandarin so my access is limited as translated and even interpreted stuff is too loaded with inconsistecies
