Tbh, no one does role reversal quite like cdramas do, especially those minis. The absolute chokehold that Secrets of the Shadow Sect, Dong Lan Xue, and Zhang Gong Zhu Zai Shang have on me is in insaaane xD

I wouldn't say Trillion Game is overtly RR but the dynamic is RR-coded with the whole cold girl, warm guy, and the power imbalance in the girl's favor for the most part. There's even a scene where the guy is working at a host bar and she's his highest bidder and some interesting gender role shenanigans ensue.

I really enjoy it when a drama introduces characters gradually; it helps me connect with them more deeply. Plus, it adds an element of mystery that keeps me engaged and wanting to watch more.

Exactly. I'd even go so far as to say we absolutely DON'T need to see the main leads meeting each other in the first episode if the story has no reason for it. Take your time, set it all up gradually. For the right audience, the wait and payoff will be totally worth it.

One drama I absolutely love is "Sell Your Haunted House." I think  RR is present in the couple Cold Woman, Soft Male  Love it! The female lead is fantastic, and the male lead is wonderfully chaotic in all the right ways.

I don't have a favorite per se, so I'm linking the whole album here because it's a collective experience imho. oh, one more thing. the OST plays a lot in the drama and I mean A LOT. I don't mind it because I really like it and end up humming along most of the time, but I've seen people complain about it so thought I'd mention.

I feel quite the opposite. I find it challenging to sit still and watch a show if there’s too much text on the screen. I tend to prefer stories that are lighter and more romantic.

I think we're in the same boat then when it comes to text on screen. While I prefer more serious stories, I'm all for comedic and refreshing palate cleansers between heavier dramas, and I too, can't really do without romance of some kind (which basically means I'll take anything I can get a ship out of even if there's no clear Romance tag).

Two very different dramas thematically speaking, but I love to see it. Variety is always good!

In the midst of those two dramas, I've been catching up on several other BL series and am working my way through my watchlist, which has been gathering dust for a bit.

Ooh do you have any good BL recommendations? The last BL I was wholeheartedly invested in was I Told Sunset about You and its sequel but I've struggled to get into anything since. I really adore GMM TV's lineup of actors, they're so entertaining in everything they do but I've been a bit hesitant to check out more because the fanbase tends to get a little... much. Either way, would love to receive any recs, I'm open to anything really but would ideally prefer more serious titles.

Hahaha, I'm gen z but I have a love-hate relationship with MDL's formatting too. It's a pain to maneuver at times and then at times I'm oddly fond of it. I wish it was more accessible though, at least on mobile devices. Can't even reply to longer posts without turning on my laptop :(
