I'm on ep 8, and I think I'm about to get to that scene. It was one of the scenes shown in the opening credits, so I've been eagerly waiting for it. I started the drama last night and ended up binging it. I'll be caught up in two more episodes, and then the waiting will begin 😩 At least you and I can suffer together.
There have been so many good scenes, but so far my faves have been:
FL and MLs first meeting. I love the way she made his knees buckle and made him fall on her bed with her pointy elf shoes 😂 She literally hooked the back of his knee with one, and he toppled over. That really tickled me. Didn't realize those shoes could be used as weapons.
The banter that took place outside the palace after ML's appointment as a censor had me giggling. It was so good! I love when FL peered up at him and said, "Could it be you can't forget about me?" ML is so reserved (but kind of cheeky so I should've known better). I was thinking he would deny it and/or say something sarcastic, but he literally just goes: "Yeah. So what?" And then BOOM, the next thing I know she's shoving him up against a wall, his hair all over the place because his poor hat was knocked off his head and is rolling around on the FLOOR. I was like ahhhhhh!!!!! That's probably my absolutely favorite scene, and what made me realize the drama would be better than I thought. It also shows that FL's not super chaste because they didn't have an aphrodisiac to blame it on that time. They just wanted each other 🤭 I also think it's funny that she's cuckolding her husband even though they're not really together. He clearly still likes her, so that's basically what's happening.
I also really like the scenes with FL's "husband" the prince consort. Every time he tries to get rowdy with her or manhandle her, she puts him in his place!

I'm mixing up all these historical minis. It was the first couple episodes of "Qingchuan's Veil of Vengeance" that didn't hit for me. Haven't attempted "Secrets of the Shadow Sect" yet.

Pookie from "A Dream Like the True Love" plays the SML (the Prince Consort), but I like his face more than the ML's T . T

Bu Liang Ren Zhi Hua Kui Wang Ye Fang Si Ai
Took me over two months to finish this drama so needless to say it didn't live up to my expectations 😂
First things first. ML was incredible!! The character, the styling, the performance... 10/10. The actor absolutely devours the green-tea role breaky, lunch and dinner! He's completely in his element when he's hiding sass behind weak ankles (he spends so much time dramatically on the floor, it's glorious) and pitiful pouts. CYT was so good at portraying those feminine moments and actions, making himself look as small and dainty as possible- it was INCREDIBLE!! And the ML's commitment to being a helpless prince in peril needing saving from his crush was ADORABLE. I was surprised he didn't have any "I'm the man" moment in the drama. Like, he just wanted to be pampered and dominated and didn't care for anything else!! He even went as far as to request to marry into the FL's family after regaining his royal position (which ofc would never fly but was cute regardless. Him being a quirky transmigrator feminist was also cute. We don't often get transmigrator MLs, much less in an RR setting so this was niiice!!
And also can I just say whoever styled him in this drama AAAAAAAAATE!!! Good grief. Chen Yunting is already gorgeous, but here? Another lvl! His outfits, the hair-jewelry, earrings, curls, and even the make up? He looked stunning!!!
So why didn't I like it that much? Can y'all guess? Yeah, it was the FL...... She was the kind of FL where they tell you she's a lot stronger than she actually is ever shown being. She' was a weak fickle, self-righteous brat who could never really figure out what it was she wanted. The way she kept switching up on the ML from doting on him and protecting him to suddenly wanting to kill him... I get she was in a difficult position, but wow, she had no backbone and no braincells. Everyone around her played her like a fiddle, yet she only blamed ML. She barely felt RR at all, tbh, despite having a lot going for her. (The drama reminded me a lot of Ye Cheng Fu in many ways. The fickle pathetic FL whom they insist is 'strong', the flirty green-tea ML who's a courtesan with a hidden identity. They have a lot of similarities, only that this drama is a good several hours shorter xD)
I honestly shipped ML more with his greedy madame 😂 They had prolly one of my fav platonic m/f duos. Her constantly worrying about making the most money and even selling ML out for it was hilarious. And honestly... she was far better and stronger a FL than the actual FL. Imagine a story where ML ends up falling for the madame who trains him to become a courtesan? They're both in the same line of work but she's older and thus no longer active in the same way and she can be mature and distant and he can be clingy and use the tactics she taught him to woo her? 😩 IT'D BE SO GOOOOOD!!
As for the plot, ehhh, I forgot most of it tbh. I know it was way too long and nothing ended up really mattering or being resolved because ML's goal was wooing his crush and FL was utterly incompetent so things just kinda resolve themselves without their involvement, LMFAO. I ended up watching the 2nd half faster, unless ML was being cute (which admittedly was a lot). But then they pulled a final scene that had me breathless... so... win some, lose some, yknow. I liked how the set-up was ML trying to learn how to be the best RR bf for his gf, that was a nice touch.

Secondly, my school banned MDL and a bunch of different sites (they can do that apparently 😭) on everyone’s laptop so the long post I was going to make about Blossoms of Power is no longer gong to happen. I’ll do a brief bit about it after, but…

Anyway, Blossoms of Power.
It was certainly a trip? The ML ended up not being dead (surprise surprise), and it was a happily ever after with their child. Honestly, the only things saving this drama were both CP’s face cards and outfitting, and the RR-leaning masc couple. The plot was all over the place, things were just disregarded, there were plot twists reminiscent of a 12 -year-old’s wattpad story.
In my opinion, FL was a bit of a mary sue character, but we get loads of that in cdramas so I didn’t really mind it that much. I did love how much of a “I’m so frail, please look after me uwu 🥺” character ML was, and I did enjoy the warm man/cold woman.
I also loved the way they always slept together. It’s a pretty subtle thing. But I love when the whole FL sleeps buried in ML/‘s shoulder thing is flipped:

Final thoughts on the main cp are that they had so many opportunities to fully commit to the RR and have plenty of scenes, but they played it safe and skirted the line. I’d say the RR came in waves.
Now for the second CP:
I quite liked their dynamic at the beginning, then it fizzled out pretty fast like the rest of the drama and turned into a little more egalitarian. It didn’t have the whole bait and switch but it did sadly get more tame 🫤

And um...in a scene a few episodes prior, we got some good whump where she strangles the ML (because her evil brother the Crown Prince sent her to kill him in prison to prove her loyalty) and he thanks her. It was so crazy, I thought I'd bumped my head on the way to the kitchen for more snacks, and was just hallucinating all of this. My only gripe with the scene is the ML's face was, regrettably, stiff and pretty emotionless. I know you're willing to die for the cause, but you're still getting strangled, dude. You'd naturally struggle a little (a lot) more, your eyes would water, you'd be a little scared because...hello...death??? You might even be a little excited since you love FL and she's got her hands on you even if it's not the way you anticipated. I still liked the scene, but I can't pretend his acting wasn't lacking. It would've been phenomenal with someone like Wu Jun Ting, Wang Jia Xuan, Qin Xiao Xuan, or even Liu Xu Wei (The Prince Consort) himself!
