Episode 20 of KttPH is another one with many happenings and revelations. I like that the drama has sustained its excitement, the quality of storytelling and the excellent acting by the cast. There really is no boring episode 👍!

Overdo starts airing today. It looks interesting. I might check it out one of these days.

Skip both as there's no actor I particularly like in both dramas but I saw that Overdo taking the top spot on Maoyan even though it just premiered yesterday. Zhang Ling He's star power I guess. Seems like many people criticise it for having short drama vibe and pace + AI + characters posing without any movement + bad cinematography/camera movement and more. It'll get better eventually since it's too early to judge. I love reading comments too much... But happy watching!

I haven't watch The East Palace, I'll start it asap. But yes seems like many have problem with the ending. I think many of Netflix series have this problem. Hopefully there's no sequel. I don't really like sequels, especially if it needs waiting time for more than half a year...

I'm currently watching an asadora https://kisskh.at/7889-gochisousan spanning between 1911-1945 (since FL's age was 6). It's cute and sometimes funny. It's about the glutton FL whose father was a French cuisine chef, and how her grandmother taught her to share food as the food she had may decrease in portion but she got more of gochisousama/gochisousan (thank you for the food). Anne Watanabe was the FL and her infamous ex-husband irl was the ML.

I'm looking forward to 2 dramas:

Spring of the Blade starring Xu Kai and Zhou Ye

Love in Red Dust starring Wang Xing Yue and Xu Ruo Han

Oh, I read about Spring of the Blade on reddit that it released behind the scenes special. Seems like it'll be coming soon.

I 'm waiting for The Mystic Nine against the Coming Storm rumored to air on 5 August and Zhong Qi that may come sometimes in August. Read someone posted on mdl that there's a rumor that Zeng Shun Xi having another schedule so his character will be dubbed by voice actor, guess they're on hurry. I remember TMNatCS being one of top 10 most anticipated upcoming drama on douban yearly list. Could be #1 but there's Xiao Zhan's Spying so could also be #2. I hope they're coming soon. Everything else I ptw may not come that soon.

Read rumor somewhere (oh where I wonder) about Spying will have additional filming, guess his modern medical drama may come first.

Apparently The Mystic Nine against the Coming Storm will air on 30 July. Baidu said "Reports indicate that the drama's release date has been moved up to July 30, 2026." So excited for it~ Oh, my queque getting messed up....

My thoughts after finishing Key to the Phoenix Heart last night (after a good night's sleep):

1) The cast are excellent, especially Neo Hou and Ai Mi. Both of them nailed their roles and they have quite good chemistry ❤️! Merxat as Prince Ying (Eagle Lord) also gave a good performance, though he does not have many scenes. Other supporting cast did quite well too 👍.

2) I like that the drama's pacing is consistent from start to finish; even the last 4 episodes are properly spaced out and not rushed 💖.

3) The plot twists kept me engaged throughout the drama. Even the extra clip after episode 28's ending theme gave a twist that made sense. I do have a question on one plot point but I think I'll rewatch that part, or ask around later 😄.

4) I appreciate the fight scenes; they are well-choreographed, e.g., XWY fighting with a red clothe as blindfold.

5) I love the ending! I'm glad it's very clear and not vague/open-ended.

6) I love the OST, which is very fitting for the drama. Neo Hou's opening theme and his duet with Zhang Bi Chen are excellent 💯.

I enjoyed this drama and it's a very good watch overall!

https://kisskh.at/770281-zhong-qi will air on 10 August.

Oh good, seems like I have no time to sleep~ It's set on 1997, maybe it doesn't count as historical drama?

Thank you for your thoughts on KTTPH. I wasn't sure about it but now I'll look forward to watching it!

I've had a break from historicals for a while until I felt like starting one up again and I chose Blossoms of Power. I'm LOVING every single episode!

I have like 8 more episodes of BOP and I am sooo obsessed with it. I just finished KTTPH last week and was so worth it. Love that it doesn't overstay its welcome by trying to pad out more episodes for money.
