I was just on World of BL yesterday to go through his upcoming list and was surprised that I had a number of titles that weren't added to his site yet. I'm sure there's many more out there as well. It must be a big job to keep track of such a comprehensive website!

Another resource, BL Watcher, is a little different as she adds a series after she's watched it cuz she also writes reviews and includes many other details about each series. It's really nice.

"BL Watcher" has been a wonderful resource (notably for KBLs and Taiwan BLs, more limited when it comes to the vast world of Thai BLs) which has unfortunately gone rather quiet this year, perhaps because the website owner has been having health or other personal problems - so heartfelt best wishes to the owner!

While I don't always agree with the final ratings (letter grades), the review texts provide a great deal of intelligent and thoughtful insight, so I pay more attention to what these actually say than to the final ratings.

It's totally different from "WoBL" in that it's a review site rather than an attempt at a comprehensive directory (which, to give credit to "WoBL", has become a near-impossible task with the explosive growth of BLs, including all the indies and reels).

I started The Promise of the Soul and yeah I'm less than 10 mins in the first ep and questioning whether to continue. I know ~~Mr. P~~ Dora said EP 1 wasn't so good and he's so right, lol.

A grandpa with a totally fake "made-up-to-look-old" look is just plain annoying to me. And a grandson, with one of the worst hairdos I've seen in awhile, seemingly out-of-the-blue forcing himself onto the other ML. The other ML has an over-40 mother who just had a baby and seems to be a mistress or was a mistress to someone.

I feel like I'm watching one of Mr. P's train wrecks. But if u say it gets better then I'll hang in there. At least the eps are only 25 mins long. 🤣

The Promise of the Soul - EP 1 @ 17:01

Smth must be wrong with me cuz I usually don't mind body switches/swaps/etc. So when "grandpa" kisses Hai Yuan (accidentally) I was surprised when the ICK factor kicked in full force. 😵‍💫

Drats! I feel stuck. I wanna watch it but I can't get past the visual of the ML being the grandfather. 💀

I mean, the blond guy is so cute even with the terrible hairstyle, haha.

I really loved MC. After watching so many other BLs since, my appreciation has only grown. The show addressed so many issues: social inequity, discrimination, loneliness due to disability. I know many viewers played favorites between the first and second couples but I never felt the need to do that. I thought they all did well. In fact, they made the show more interesting because we were presented with a "first love" couple and another that has already experienced much heartbreak and seemed quite jaded. Kudos to the actors and Director P'Aof.

I've not yet watched "Promise of the Soul", so nope, it wasn't me who said that. However, I recall others saying that the series gets much better as it goes along.
