Nice! But also, I have located their IG page Instagram

They seem to have an app in iPhone app store called "dmm tv" but when I searched, didn't find anything.

It's in Japan only - but in any case, unless your Japanese is a heck of a lot better than mine, it wouldn't do you any good without subtitles.

Tutoring My Enemy

I watched this because i really like ForthDonut and it was short and available On iQIYI. I usually don’t mind low-quality dramas but this was actually painful to watch it was so bad. I can’t put my finger on why it was so awful. I think it must be the directing because i really think ForthDonut are not bad actors. But this was cringe! So just be warned before you commit, even if it’s under two hours total.

Can someone recommend me some bl movies you have enjoyed ?

I didn't watch a lot of movies in the past years and I want to change that.

My goal this year is to reach 500 movies on the same day that I reach 1000 dramas. I want to watch a lot of movies of different genres.

Thanks for the warning. Given our usual overlap, I assume i'd have the same reaction.

Khemjira EP 1-6

This is me being as tactful as I can be.  😆 🤣 🫢

I'm exactly halfway through and so far I'm not enjoying it. It's not just about the horror, lol.  I'm not sharing a laundry list of things I don't like, so I tried to find things I do like and tbh I'm struggling with that too. I'm sorry to say it's pretty much a bad match for me.

But I told myself I would watch the whole series no matter what. Since it's sooooo highly rated (8.7?!?) and practically revered in the BL world there must be smth to it. Right? Maybe the 2nd half lives up to it?

So going through the misery of finishing the whole drama is a first for me! I should get extra points in the BL watch challenge for this.

i personally haven't watched a ton of movies that i would consider to be solidly in the bl category but i'll give you a list of my favorite gay movies on mdl :) i feel like my taste in movies especially is not super mainstream so sorry in advance if none of them are interesting to you lol

1. Vive L'Amour - out of everything on my list, this is probably the most... niche. it's a slower paced movie with sparse dialogue. which normally wouldn't really be my thing, but i really connected with lee kang sheng's character in this. this is also probably the furthest from the "bl" category as there's no gay relationship, just very well crafted yearning. not for everyone but i personally love it very very much.

2. The Blue Hour - i'm very very biased towards gun, who has a main role in this so that definitely influenced my love of this movie. but again, this one is not for everyone. it deals with some dark themes and incorporates some horror elements (although pretty light imo). like vive l'amour, this movie deals with loneliness and specially queer isolation. this is one of those movies that i watched at exactly the right time in my life and emotionally it really home for me.

3. The Paradise of Thorns - this one is a thriller, again dealing with some darker themes. everything about this movie, imo, is fantastic. the acting, the cinematography, the pacing and the story, the music, the costuming, etc etc it's a very well made movie. both jeff and keng give great performances and their chemistry is amazing (they're my current pfp :3). even on a second watch this movie still blew me away. not a happy watch though, fair warning.

4. Farewell My Concubine - a classic for a reason. i'm not usually big into historical dramas but this was so so good. gorgeous cinematography, fascinating characters, and overall a great story. there's not much to say that others haven't said a million times already but i loved this movie.

5. The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese - messy! sexy! toxic! a little freaky! (in a good way)! all things i love so naturally, i thought this was a great watch. actually would really like to rewatch this soon.

6. Your Name Engraved Herein - i feel like this gets recommended a lot, and with good reason! i don't remember this one quite as much but i know i really enjoyed it. i remember liking an nc scene a lot. bc ofc that's what i would remember lol.

7.  Bangkok Love Story - oh boy. i personally was unable to take this movie like at all seriously. it's very melodramatic but in a way that placed it firmly in "so-bad-it's-good" territory for me. like everything else on this list, this movie deals with heavy themes and was it definitely written to be an emotional heavy hitter. i don't think i had the intended watch experience but i did have a great watch experience. very entertaining movie, to me at least :)

hopefully someone else will come in with some nice fluffy recommendations for you too lol bc that is apparently not my domain ¬‿¬'

while i did really like khemjira, i don't think i personally connected with it quiteeee as much as everyone else did. i think it's well a made show with good performances but i can also see where it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. props to you for pushing through it and giving it a fair shot! extra points to you!!

 blsymphony:
ahh okay my apologies

No worries. I enjoyed reading it regardless. I don't know if you watched Kill to love but the ending reminded me a bit of that one.

Did anyone finish The Love Never Set? I want to pick it back up but I want to know if it's worth it.

 Indie Art Girl:

I'm finished with EP 3-4 of Khemjira. All daytime watches of course. I was hoping it was 8 eps but no, there's 12. And each ep is looooong. I feel like I've watched half the series already. *sigh*

I'll stop whining now. I don't have a strong opinion yet, since I'm concentrating on getting through it. I did think the scene with Khem and his mother was very touching. And Keng is hot of course. 👀

Back to fluff for the evening!! Yay!

there may be 12 instead of 8 & I know ep's are lot longer than the average bl these days however I'm not sure how you feel but for me I think I enjoyed this series so much that it didn't feel like I was for watching for an hour or so as I was super engaged with what was happening. I guess it depends if you like a horror theme for a bl genre too how much it's going to keep your interest , I was excited for halloween because I knew all the creepy content was coming but I think quite a few here including yourself would rather stay away from that aha. they're a few emotional & touching scenes so I do recommend trying to stick with it if it holds your attention enough also lets be honest Keng is 🔥🔥🔥 , the moment I saw him it was game over & everytime he's on screen my eyes are glued open 😂😍

only just seen this more recent update & it's unfortunate that it's not doing anything for you & that you're finding it a chore to get through , I think I said similar above but if horror or just general creepiness isn't your thing I think you're going to get less out of it or possibly nothing at all.

I finished it and I liked it but not everyone agreed. I’ve been thinking about writing something more in depth about it but have been preoccupied with other things. I thought it was a worthwhile watch, though.

@tiffany

despite being a huge BL watcher, I almost never watch movies. 10Dance was the only one I watched last year that wasn’t for a challenge. actually, I also watched Double Exposure, which is basically porn. It’s probably on par with Sexual Lessons, just longer.

@iota

several of your film recommendations are already high priority on my TBW list. I also have been meaning to watch Restart After Coming Back Home. I noticed Dangerous Drugs of Sex is back on Gaga. My friend described this as “the most f$cked up movie she had ever seen,“ but hard to look away from. I may watch it if I’m in the right mood, Ballon’s Landing on Netflix is also on my list. Practically all the movies I want to watch are serious and/or depressing so we’ll see if I get to them.

You might've joined later than me but I'm sure you started watching BLs before I did lol. Welcome! What's your fave BL? =D

lol I did watch quite a bit of korean bl. I have a lot of fav, but my biggest fav is Semantic Error
