What is a series that you LOVE, but others have said that it's overrated or that it's bad? (Can be from any country)

Mine is HIStory 3: Make Our Days Count

Interesting question I would say Addicted the original Chinese one. And I liked even more the novel that I read every year.

I really like the photos from the photoshoot mission of DMD Friendship seasons 1 and 2. They’re so pretty ! Does anyone know if they were released somewhere ?

After watching episode 2 of the season again, I have a question.

I know some projects take years to be ready, so was the cast of The Next Prince already decided before DMD Friendship season 2 ? It would explain the dynamics between some of the participants on the show.

Edit : My answer is at 28:57 episode 3 The cast is decided but I don't think they have start with the filming yet or maybe just for the trailer.

I have a tendency to overlook a lot of flaws for the sake of what I like (especially cuties), or to enjoy BLs which are admittedly trainwrecks because trainwrecks can be strangely fascinating (and to be honest, usually also because of the cuties) - so this could be a long list.

To narrow things down, I looked at my Completed list and see 181 titles that have average MDL ratings of 6.9 or lower.

Some were truly and inexplicably awful, even by my low standards  (e.g. "Love Is Like A Cat").

Some of these were reels, which tend to get harsh ratings, often unfairly (e.g. "Crush On You" with Tutor and Yim, probably the first BL vertical I watched - and I loved it!).

Some were interesting or enjoyable for me but I can understand why others didn't like them or gave brutal punishment ratings - in particular: very very hardcore themes (e.g. "Dangerous Drugs of Sex", "Playboy and the Gang of Cherry" or "Grand Guinol"), or underage actors or characters in BLs that probably cross the line in terms of sexual overtones (e.g. "Hit Bite Love", "Sweet Boy" or "Brothers").

But that leaves quite a few regular (non-vertical) series with average MDL ratings below 6.9 that I really liked, despite whatever flaws. I'll pick just four that jump out at me:
"1000 Years Old" (avg MDL: 6.3): Yeah, it's a goofy vampire spoof with a lot of weaknesses, but it's adorably cute and has a great group-of-friends dynamic, catchy music and a surprisingly touching ending. I loved it!
"Tin Tem Jai" (avg MDL: 6.2): Here also, great group-of-friends dynamic and really cute, sweet watch despite some glaring weaknesses. I loved it!
"Blossom Campus" (avg MDL: 6.7): Yeah, the story's not great, the love rival (triangle) didn't really work and felt forced/cliché, and the university campus was bizarrely devoid of students (@Strongberry: Huh? I know you're on a tight budget, but couldn't you have rounded up some extras?). But it had cute/appealing protagists, and despite its flaws, I really enjoyed it!
"Love By Chance S2" (avg MDL: 6.8). By today's standards I'd undoubtedly rate this a lot tougher, but this was among my earliest BLs, so it's nostalgic for me. Yeah, this was (along with "My Bromance S2") one of the worst BL retcons ever (i.e. the incongruities vs. S1), there were a lot of weaknesses and slop in story and execution, and of course, Pete/Saint was missing, leading to Ai/Perth being annoying moping throughout the sequel. But I loved it, most of all because it fixed the biggest problem with "LBC S1", namely the awful way it ended the Tin/Can storyline. It gave me the HEA that I was craving!

You answered your own question, but I would generally say that the three seasons of "DMD Friendship" were probably largely pre-orchestrated as part of a larger grand plan. After all, it's not a dating show but rather a cleverly constructed scheme to promote the new generations of actors, the newly formed CPs, and the subsequent BL dramas in which they have roles. My heart really wants me to believe that the new couples are real - Domundi is so good at that! - but my head says, "No, this is the BL business."

Lol I would have to say Unforgotten Night. 😂🥰😍🤭😭💖❤️‍🔥

Yeah, I enjoyed that one, too . As a mafia story it's terrible, but if one watches it as a mafia spoof (which it's not meant to me!), it's quite entertaining. Plus the cuties.

Love Sea is one of my tip Bls. Fort as Mut was freaking perfect. I didnt mind the story either.

I really enjoyed The Boy Next World, too.

i enjoyed this as well. i read somewhere that the mains acted awkwardly, maybe because they are in a relationship in rl, but i dont think they did poorly

I enjoyed both, too. Fort as Mut was the shining highlight of "Love Sea", and Boss & Noeul were in top form in "BNW". And although the average MDL ratings are pretty good, you're right that both series got a lot of harsh criticism - partly deserved for the messy stories with the usual MAME-style overdone toxicity, but I still enjoyed them.

This has been a good idea to stimulate discussion. Thanks! I hope that more members chime in.

I learned something new. I already knew that Daou and Offroad met through the survival show LAZ iCON, but I didn’t know that Auau and Por were also participants. They were even in a group together for a year with other contestants who didn’t make the final lineup.

Oh, and Copper, who is in DMD Friendship season 3, was also on that survival show. I’m really excited to see him because I loved him in Dead Friend Forever.

 Tiffany:
Daou and Offroad

I get the feeling that they're well liked and able to mingle easily, whether with GMMTV peers or Domundi peers or whoever, without any sense of competitiveness.

Daou is a social butterfly he knows everyone ! I'm always impressed by how many people he knows

He's the greenest flag of all Asian dramas I've watched. Only coming in 2nd to Ryan Gold from Her Private Life. I love Mut so much!

I feel like being I never watch TharnType, I'm not as strict and bothered by MAME... I don't know if that helps, or if I'm just naturally not as bothered. Idk.

Viki has posted a Hong Kong BL called "Feel What You Feel" as "coming soon". I've not heard of it before, and I don't yet see it on MDL - but Viki is usually pretty selective about what they carry, so I'm optimistic that it'll be reasonably good.
