So happy for WilliamEst ! and it's nice to see that many BL getting nominations I liked all of them but I didn't saw Gelboys yet (but I will). I agree with everyone Shine was really good even without comparing to others we can say that it has depth and quality.
However, I do think that because of its serious nature and depth of plot it is for a more mentally mature audience as well as there may be many people who watch BLs for an escape, and find more preference in the numerous light and less serious BLs, so those BLs get more hype.
I also think that's why and sometimes I'm one of the people who watch BLs for an escape.

There is something about this series that is just not doing it for me
Objectively speaking it wasn't great (not that I was expecting brilliant, well-constructed drama from Cheewin / Copy A Bangkok), but I can't be objective because of my feelings for Poom Nuttapart, who is a cutie-patootie. I also give Poom some credit as an actor for playing such a different role from Yo in "My Sweetheart Jom" - and to give Cheewin credit where credit is due, he has a good eye for cutie-patooties.

Does the story pick up the pace in future eps? Cuz the main excitement seemed to be trying to get drugs into John Wick the cat. And seeing Great the vet, lol. I almost forgot about him. 😂
Anyways..think I'll be watching one ep per day or so. I don't feel the spark to binge it. Instead I feel restless and distracted. Maybe it's the calm before a storm?
I liked it and rated it 8 but I don't think it's the type of BL that I like to binge. 1 episode by week was enough and it was good to watch before sleep since it wasn't stressful I would put it in the category relaxing and cute.

i think this is why in real life, there are different "spices" to make it interesting. because if it's slow-paced, we might get bored lol.
currently watching ep 4 and the pace seemed to pic up a bit, with 2 love triangles in the works =D

Perfect to binge watch
Peach Lover episodes 1 - 4
There is something about this series that is just not doing it for me, and I cannot quite put my finger on what it is exactly. There is a lot of heated scenes and metaphors throughout the series, but for some reason I am bored to death.
I started this series weeks ago, and despite my schedule I should have been in the position where I waited on the finale to air and wrapped it up, but here I am days after the finale has aired and just at episode 5; I am moving at a glacial pace anchored down by the sheer weight of apathy towards what I can only describe as source ennui.
I am either going to drop it or start fast forwarding 🤷
This was hands down so far the worst BL I watched this year so far.
I wrote a hole review about it, but for me the main couple just lacked connection making the spicy scenes and dialogue really awkward to watch, there is substantial plot hole at the second half of the series and they clearly didn't have enough story to do a full 10 ep series (last ep was really bad). So for me it was a show I should have dropped but ended up watching to the end, even if it was not enjoyable. 😅
I have not watched Khemjira, so I am not speaking specifically to it in saying the following:
I honestly find it unfair that Shine has not gotten the spotlight as compared to other series with far less depth. Notwithstanding that, I find it downright criminal that award boards have not been more generous to Shine in comparison to other series that fall short by a long shot in comparison.
These are my two cents.
This feel this. I watched Khemjira first (episodes at they aired) and later binge watched Shine. I will say overall Shine's story had a way better flow. Khemjira had a tiny 'for the plot' moment that really irritated me and honestly this another wise amazing series down a peg for me.
For me I don't really like to compare these two because they are two completely different genres (besides having BL in common). For me I'm always going to lean toward Khemjira because of the genre and it was highly enjoyable despite my complaint which proves just how good the drama was overall. However I can't deny that Shine was also magnificent for its genre, the theme, characters, and pacing of the drama was all top notch and totally deserved more. For 2025, Shine is definitely in my top 5 but so is Khemjira. 😆
