I could be wrong. The good thing about JBL series is that they're relatively short, so sure, give it a try.
Although the characters and chemistry are a bit weird, it's a decent series, and the story becomes more interesting as the perspective later (in episode 6) shifts from Hiroshi's to Natsuo's, revealing a very different view of the backstory. (This "polyperspectivity" can be a very engaging literary technique.)
As Dora writes, the series is a love story, albeit with a somewhat painful backstory, so don't let the opening scene give you the wrong idea.
