Funny BL actor names compilation. My head is spinning.

It was so funny, some names are quite popular like Fluke and some have similar sounding names like . The whole reason why they have these names is their official names are way to long to memorise and say so have a name that is simpler which also helps international fans for names

Not quite. ชื่อเล่น have long been a part of Thai culture. Some are given by parents, then they will mostly have good meanings, others are given by friends or others, so there are also names like กบ "frog". That international fans find it easier to remember short and English names is just a side effect.

I found this document, which was written by a Thai person for fanfic writers really helpful https://archiveofourown.org/works/38907348/chapters/97300035

ชื่อเล่น have long been a part of Thai culture.

I think it's a wonderful system for Thais and foreigners alike - and a big reason that international fans can become more easily invested in Thai actors and idols.

I'm OK with Japanese names. I struggle with similar Chinese names, but at least Chinese (Mainland) now has a consistent system for romanisation (Hanyu Pinyin).

Korean, on the other hand ... Grrr! It's bad enough that so many names sound very similar. To make it even worse, there are three different romanisation systems for Korean, so one can see the same name spelled different ways.

i actually find thai nicknames funny, as it's usually far from their given or screen names =D

I struggle so much with Japanese names. I'm okay with Chinese and Taiwanesenames. Korean names are pretty easy for me. It helps that korean names are usually 3 syllables and siblings will have the same part of a name.

Kim Hong Joong ( part of Kpop group Ateez)

Kim Bum Joong ( Hong joong older brother)

Jung Yun Ho (part of Kpop group ateez )

Jung Gun Ho ( Yun ho younger brother )

Gim, Kim are the same name

Park, Bak, and Pak ( used in north Korea) are all the same name

exciting!!!! maybe i should go read the books

I think I will read them too

Alex:

For the past few weeks, I have been binge watching all of DMD series. I just finished DMD Friendship season 3 and now I am getting ready to start Duang with You.

Their BLs are pretty good and I love Domundi Friendship that's what made me really into Domundi even if I watched a few shows before.

jazme:
is it just me or these too cuties are a bit alike? =D

I never thought about that but seeing the pictures together I can see it, now I would like to see them standing next to each other.

I saw this one before I didn't know there were so many with the same name.

Thanks! But even knowing this, I still struggle the most with romanised Korean names.

In defense of Korean, modern Hangul is a heck of a lot easier than the Chinese or Japanese writing systems! And Korean guys tend to have such beautiful skin (or is it just a lot of make-up?)

I'm the opposite even though I started watching Japanese and Korean dramas at the same time about 15 years ago, I was better at learning Korean names than Japanese ones. Maybe it's because of K-pop, I was also exposed to Korean names more often.

And as years went by, I got to know around 100 Korean actors' names, so in university I used to play a little game : I would link one name to another through a drama they were in together (only dramas I have seen).

Sorry, to everyone that was looking forward to seeing this.

ElementalStar:

And that's the end.

Not a surprise.

And from the comments of those who've seen it (presumably on Wavve in Korean?), it sounds even more catastrophically bad than expected, so other than the curiosity of a trainwreck, I don't think we're missing much.

There is a machine translated version that aired yesterday (I've found it on Kiss) but I didn't watch it, still unsure if I will ever watch it.

Daou's beautiful voice in this OST Sakuna Son Rak

i watched a little bit of it, the AI translations aren't very good (not surprising) so i'll probably wait until better ones are available. plus they have different actors speaking thai, korean, and english so it got confusing fast lol

from the few minutes i watched, this definitely looks to be a bit of a trainwreck (also not surprising) but i still found it entertaining. and i love jeff and barcode so i'll likely keep watching at some point ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭
