I totally did not watch 3 hrs of what I thought was a bl , only to see it through to the end & be shook. I don't recommend anyone watch ' The Effect ' 😭💔

I watched and really enjoyed it especially as I talks about an issue that still happens today and glad they never got together as the action he did was unforgivable

I am currently watching 8 airing BLs and 5 come out on Fridays. Help! At least Sammy’s Children’s Day ends this week. (I’m not happy it’s ending but I need one less Friday show.)

Does anyone else get 3/4 through a really good show and then put off watching the rest for awhile? Sometimes I don’t want the show to end, sometimes I don’t want to see the final conflict, sometimes there’s just a lull before the very end. But I get annoyed at myself for not just finishing.

It took me a month to watch the last 4 episodes of high school frenemy (bromance) and right now I’m putting off the last 5 episodes of pursuit of Jade (cdrama.) Also I’ve been rewatching Me and Thee but have been putting off the last episode.

I’m not talking about shows that I put on hold for months or indefinitely, I’m talking about shows I really like. Sometimes I don’t understand myself. Lol.

it happens to me as soon as a series has more than 12 eps. I get easily bored, even when I like the series. So for me the C-dramas are the worst. I watched Pursuit of Jade with 3 breaks because just the thought of the 40 eps made me uneasy. I am now finishing Love between Lines (c-drama, 28 eps) after a two-month break. I loved it and even succeeded in watching 20 eps in a row, but I had to pause.

Same right now with Perfect 10 Liners: I loved the first story and watched 9 eps. Then paused it for 6 months. Restarted a couple of days ago, watched 9 eps and now I'm thinking about putting it on hold again for the last 6 eps, even though I really enjoyed both stories and the series is great.

I really try to avoid having more than 2 series airing on the same day, because I don't like watching different eps of different series one after the other. I am either at the university or at the language school during the day, so I only watch series in the evening, and I hate it when I have 4-5 eps from different series all waiting for me. Regarding Sammy's, here it's a bit different, I am sure I could have enjoyed a few more eps (let say up to 14-16 would have been fine), it's by far my fav this year with Bad Buddy.

High School Frenemy (2024)

This review contains vague spoilers. If you don’t want to know if SkyNani stop being enemies, don’t read this. Otherwise, I only give an overview and no details.

Someone was asking what I thought, so here it is. First of all, this is officially a bromance, not a BL, and it’s the beginning of SkyNani, who are not an official ship. But like The Untamed, many people will tell you this is a BL. There are many reasons for that.

First, though, an overview. This is based on a kdrama about a class of troubled teens from rival schools who are forced to come together in one class. Special teachers are brought in the help them. It is supposed to be a story of redemption/overcoming the odds for the students and the teachers. The focus, though, is on Saint (Sky) and Shin (Nani), who are former friends but now on rival sides. The class is filled with GMMTV actors we know and love, and the story deals with some of their problems as well as the Saint-Shin relationship.

I loved the show overall, but mostly for SkyNani. The only other actor who really deserves a shoutout is Mark Pakin, who plays an autistic character. He is both lovable and loving, and he does a great job bringing this character to life and making the audience really care about him. But, honestly, this show is successful because of Sky Nani.

The chemistry between SkyNani is off the charts. They are so good together, and I found them riveting to watch, even if their make-up/break-up and hate you/love you dance was only about their friendship. It is the kind of “I need you” chemistry and storyline that makes the story feel important. it is never boring when they are the focus of the action. Their relationship feels that essential to their lives.

By 3/4 through the show, they have permanently made up, and they spend the rest of the series declaring their love for each other and flirting. They both tease each other and openly joke about being a couple, being irresistible, etc. At no point did i think they would actually happen as a couple, but it is still fun to watch.

The series wraps up with the resolution of other class members’ and teachers’ issues, but i really only cared about Sky, Nani, and Mark Pakin. They play a crucial role in the ending, though, so I was only bored with maybe one episode. It’s not that the other characters are uninteresting or boring to watch, it’s just that they don’t compare in terms of screen presence to Sky, Nani, and Mark.

If you want a romance story, this is not for you. Also there is a lot of fighting. But if you like bromance that borders on BL, and the story sounds interesting to you, this is a must watch. I gave it a 9.0, which is very high for me. It was a great show.

I thought it was well done for sure & shows that love can go wrong easily & become very toxic to the point you're no longer the same person , their is realism as they're many out there that have gone through this themselves so I feel it somewhat spreads awareness & reminds us that these things can / do happen. I say I don't recommend as honestly it's crushing especially that ending , it's hard to deal with an open end even more so if it ends in tragedy. basically it's not bad but definitely not for the lighthearted & can be triggering to those with trauma & mental health so you need to go in expecting it to be somewhat graphic , don't be me & go in without further knowledge because honestly it did get to me a little & i'm still trying to shake it off 😅

And I love JavaSurf's chemistry!

they're really good, I really like them in Head 2 head (actually more than SeaKeen)

Indie Art Girl:
I felt the same! It made me really excited for their next series, Roommate Chaos, even though they aren't the lead couple.

so happy for Roommate Chaos, the trailer for JavaSurf was really promising!

even though To my shore disappointed me as I couldn't even finish the first episode as it was too boring

I hated To my shore from the first to the last ep. Still mad at myself for not dropping it. I think because I was watching it while it aired I finished it, but this one was a total nonsense to me.

jazme:
lol, to my shore was a bit slow but if you get to ep 4 or 5, it will get better

when does it get better? The last 30 minutes were ok-ish.

how long have you been learning Chinese? I'm eying a BA in Chinese (for beginners) here at my university but I'm already so busy and I don't think I can find the time for the 20 hours / week for it. Or I may just stop watching dramas at all! Pretty curious to know how long it took you to reach this level.

Journey with you, reminder it starts 8 may

No English subs. Grrrr.
