wasn't the English voiceover preselected in Youtube?

I believe it was. It threw me off but I changed it to Japanese audio in settings. It should be watchable now!

So in the future, I think that for series like Love of Silom I'll either put it on hold or delay starting it and wait for the feedback of this community. A bit of a pity, as I really like our discussions after each episode, but there were so many average drama lately, that's it's not worth all my time.

I think this is a smart decision! I'm all about choosing the best watch for me at the time and enjoy what I'm watching. If I'm not enjoying it then it's not the best use of my time and I stop. Simple. I move on to a potentially better drama.

As long as I watch one drama with everyone else some of the time, I have a chance to participate in the convos!

It doesn't matter how long my drop list gets. I'm winning cuz I'm having a good time no matter what, as long as I like a series. I'm the boss of meeeee!!! LOL

One of the unfortunate realities of modern technology is that it tries to think for you, which I hate and invariably try to disable whenever possible. Lately, my pet peeve has been this auto-AI-voiceover stuff which I never asked for.

My local temperature is 41°C / 105°F, and I feel wiped out and incapable of concentrating on anything serious, so I'm now watching some flimsy but cute fluff: the newly posted episode 2 of "Lost To Light" (iQiyi), complete with cutie-patooties!

ETA: Episode 2 is a significant improvement on ep. 1, which was kind of a mess. (A cute mess, but a mess nonetheless.) Also, much less of the Thai cringe comedy. I'm enjoying it!

I have to go see one of my best friend's theater performance, and I'll be back later to watch the last episode of their story.

Love of Silom (Uncut Ver.) - Finale

I am choosing to behave myself tonight, so I will give my comments in two points:

  • I take it that Krit would have never chosen Wayu in the end if he had not practically knocked on death's door.

  • This series is a disappointment in regards to the drastic fall in quality from My Stand-In to this.

6/10

No long and super interesting review? Just kidding, I agree with you, it's not worth your time. The 6/10 was a bit harsh but I understand the disappointment.

I rated it 5/10 overall

I am also going to pitch into this, since I just finished the final ep. and yeah I think it got downhill for me from ep 8 onward. The last episode was cute, but the contrast of what I expected from the series and to what it evolved into wasn't great for me. The show has high quality production value and cast, but unfortunatly it's not enough to make this memorable for me. I think I will end up rating it 7,5/10.

Oh wow! I'm so curious about the things u like the most in this drama! Do tell when u have a moment, lol!

To be honest except Krit’s dad, I loved everything about the series. Especially all the intimate and cute scenes. And Singto was freaking adorable too.

Just catching up on everyone’s comments and feeling overwhelmed with how many shows there are right now and how hard it is to keep up!

I still have one episode left of Love of Silom (Uncut Vers.) but I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone is saying. It didn’t live up to the hype and UpPoom are so talented they deserve the best material. In that sense it’s very disappointing. The story has been uneven for me and Up’s character does get annoying for sure. I do wonder, though, if we judge stories about family pressure too harshly. I get the impression that respect for parents is valued much more highly in the far east than in the west.

I don’t usually imagine different stories from the ones I watch but in my perfect ending the disapproving dad is corrupt and linked to the crime ring and gets removed from the picture entirely by the end, and punished by his own son.

I will wait until next week to see the last episode but based on spoilers I will probably give the show an 8. This is also because Poom made me cry not during the hospital scenes but when Up came to apologize. If anyone makes me cry I up the rating since it means I’m more invested and the acting is that good. Also the show really did start off so well. Don’t forget how adorable those scenes were with the couple and Singto.

So anyway that’s the point of view from someone not too harsh with ratings.

I know one person (maybe ElementalStar or Unique Rain) mentioned it awhile back, but I want to draw attention to The Lie We Lived In.

I loved this show! I gave it a 9.0 which is high for me.

This is a short show, only 8 25-minute episodes, so not a big investment, but well worth it. Plus it is a Viki original so you will be supporting more original BLs on Viki (hopefully.) it is Korean, and I think the best Korean BL so far this year.

It is a crime drama with a romance element, and definitely a psychological thriller. The story is not obvious and provides twists and turns as it goes. If you need to know whether it has a happy ending ahead of watching, it does have a HE. I thought the couple had good chemistry and the acting was good. It’s really the story that makes it stand out, though. It’s not original so much as well-done. But if you like crime dramas, don’t pass this one by. And FYI, no dead fish kisses here.

Oh I was just about to watch this! Thank you for letting me know it gets better ☺️

Hope everyone has finished the wonderful Fake Fact Lips. I do not possess RX’s skills in capturing screenshots, but I just had to have these, even if they’re horrible quality. (Maybe RX can get us better quality versions? )

Love Of Silom

my rating- 10/10. I loved it. 🥰❤️😍😁

😎❤️❤️❤️

Drama update this week.

Note: June has been the first month this year in which I like/love the majority of my CWL. Also my list is packed so I might have missed something. <--- edit: I did Fake Fact Lips 😭

Completed

Magic Move: The okay first half is not worth watching for the second half. Just skip to scenes of the second couple.

Backdoor: wow, part 2 please and thank you. Worth the time to watch.

Advance Bravely: on my list since 2020 😱 and it was @dora's fault I ended up watching it (sharing that bromance youtube video). I put it off because it was never completed like Addicted but overall okay drama.

Triple-Do You Want?: Interesting short film thought project. Three different couple dynamics playing the same scene.

The Lie We Lived In: I really, really loved this one. I loved the plot and and acting. And that outro song! 😘 A must watch Korean BL.

Love of Silom: I did love the last episode but 9, 10, 11 are just frustratingly terrible in comparison to the rest of the drama. But the overall love I have for this drama still has it rated high.

Your Dear Daddy: Started off as a great relaxing drama to watch, then sudden assassin and the after drama gave me whiplash. I set this to 'good average.'

Fourever You Part 2: I loved this season! Very highly rated for me, mostly due to Lately, Its Winter Season.

Pretend Lover: Vertical (see here for a list of all BL Verticals I know of) this is a cliche, cheesy soap that had me grinning the entire time so of course I loved it.

Fake Fact Lips: I still haven't watch the special episode (later today!) but I expect its just as good as the 9 episodes so perfect 😅

New

Blazing Him: Only watched 1 episode but so far so good.

Deep In: Very drawn in with this plot. I love all the actors playing actors dramas we have now.

Don't Be Too Emotional: Wow, that was just wow. I didn't watch any trailers so I went in blind and so glad because I enjoyed that.

Lost to Light: not a good first impression. About to start the second episode.

My Summer of You: basic school drama so far. Poor thing airs the same day as WOF, so it stands no chance in a head to head battle.

The Edge of Horizon: so far I love it.

The Prosecutor's Proposal: Korea is killing it with these non-romantic plot based dramas! This is good so far.

The Table: The obvious fake sound track of people talking in the background was amusing. But still enjoyable start to a short series.

Unfold: Watched first episode and right now I'm curious but have no opinion either way.

When Light Fades: Like may 3 or 4 cliche 'falling into your arms' moments in just one episode. Don't have high hopes.

Zantiis Miss You: middle ground, falling in love a little too fast for my liking I think.

Still Watching

A Dog and a Plane: I would say this drama is charming.

A Winter Sun: I like the main leads plot, but still have long way to go. I think this drama would have benefited if it dropped 2 episodes at once.

ChermChey: the 'how many sex jokes can we fit in one episode' drama. Their chemistry is the main pull and I'm eating it like a bag of chips.

Crazy Love, Moo Moo!: I wanna send this cow straight to the slaughter house.

Fix the Error!: Kinda boring at the beginning, but some good moments too. 10 min an episode so worth it.

Lost To You: One of my favorites. Though I think those intro monotone quotes are kind of ridiculous, and some of the side characters acting are 🫣

Love Class 3: short enough to be worth watching

Payback: This is tied with When Oranges Fall for #1.

Smile After Tears: Not sure I like how they are implementing this plot but I still like it so far. Might go into depth later. I feel like the second love wont be able to establish the depth I felt with the first guy.

The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days: Seeing as Japan is in the middle of the fight for equal marriage rights, this drama feels like its capitalizing on that movement.

The Boyfriend Express: Still terrible, still loving the disaster.

Ticket to Heaven: Absolutely beautiful portrayal of emotions.

When Oranges Fall: I need this like it was the last oxygen on earth!
