Okay I just started watching KNOT and let's see will I live to regret this as happened with My Stubborn. My expectations for plot being the focus of this show is not high, but who knows I might be surprised. 😅

My only issue so far with Knot is the fact it seems Phatsa grew up under a rock. Everyone seems to know about the secondary genders but him? Hope they explain this in the future.

Also Oats fight scenes were so cool. Wasn't expecting to be introduced to his character that way.

Good things:

  • Had much pore plot than anticipated.

  • Good tension building.

  • The fighting scenes were awesome!

The wtf moment:

  • Yeah like how on earth has Oat's character being brought up? Seriously if in this series universe AOB stuff is normal you would think every parent would have their kids tested at some point and schools and kindergartens would teach about the stuff.

  • The ending scene: so Oat's character was just bitten just like that? It was.... very sudden. 🙈

  • The omega who was saved in the beginning: I am confused, wasn't based on the trailer this character the Beta of the series? Could be that this is cleared up as the plot goes on, but in all the promos there was a specific point of having a plot line with a Beta paring with another Alpha.

Honestly, I'm already sceptical seeing an omegaverse story being turned into a drama...I didn't like those dynamics much in the first place (unless it's alpha x alpha, omega x omega, anything but alpha x omega) and I felt it was too much to be adapted into a drama. But the Chinese and Thai industries didn't fail to surprise me lolll

I'll see what people think then decide whether or not to watch it haha

Hey guys, it’s been a while! I took a long, much needed break, and I’m finally back to the BL world.

I finally managed to complete Only Friends Dream On. I’ve gotta say, the last episodes lost me a bit but it was good overall. I loved RomeRaffy the most, They were amazing.

Welcome back ! Same I loved RomeRaffy from start to end.

Sophie:

Also why are there so many BLs airing or about to air now. I can’t keep up at all.

Don't worry I think no one can 😆

p43425:

I voted for "Love Upon A Time". Should you decide to watch it, let me just explain that it starts weak, with annoying comedy and not much BL, but gets much better starting from about halfway through.

I remember, that's why I put it on hold. 😆 But I'm glad a lot of people said it got better afterward.

Portugalia67:

I thought exactly the same! And I also wanted to change my rating from 9.0 to 9.5 but finally didn't because the page for the special ep was added to MDM, so I left my rating at 9.0 for the series (9 eps) and rated the special ep with a 9.5.

I don't really like counting specials (especially if they released just after the drama) because I prefer only having dramas count in the Shows category. But yes it was worth changing my rating 😁

Portugalia67:

That was such a good surprise, I didn't expect to be hooked from ep1. RX and Tiffany advertised it so well, no way to escape it!

Now everytime I see the title my mind goes : 🎶You're a red flag but I'm colorblind 🎶 😆

dora:

And then a lot of us will be starting Knot today. Can’t wait for some crazy BoatOat chemistry!

Let's go !

Indie Art Girl:

I never watch previews. Not even the end previews after an ep is over! I stop the vid as soon as they come on. And some of the pilots/trailers I post I don't watch either

Same. I don't watch previews, and for teasers, I either don't watch them at all or only watch the first minute or two.

Laalaa17930228:

Sammy's Children day like has to have a season 2 coming, bc we need the couple to actually have a couple time in the show and not them just avoiding their feelings almost the whole show, then one of them is just taken into prison, and the end. I am still salty about the relationship development part, even if otherwise it was perfection in terms of overall plot and individual character performances.

Exactly it needs one !

Wu : Objectively, it was good: well-made, with great production, solid acting, and an interesting plot. But personally, I didn't feel the emotions the way I was supposed to. Maybe I'm the problem, or maybe it just wasn't the right drama to binge-watch.

I have to applaud Krist's performance as his creepy character he did an amazing job (It's been years since I last saw him in a drama.). It was also nice seeing Sea's and Phuwin's cameos (I just love him).

8/10

I agree and rated it the same. I also binge watched it. You are not the problem. I had a hard time buying into the stakes 100% or the depth of emotional connections. It had potential and the premise was interesting .This was my first SkyNani project so i might consider watching their other projects after this. I hope gmmtv keeps making more unique stuff all round.

Krist was actually the stand out performance for me and i'm not a major fan of his. He should take on more complex roles

Sophie:

Is winter sun a thai production?

It's strangely listed on MDL as "Thai" (maybe released through some kind of Thai shell company?), but it's definitely Chinese - same team as the indie masterpiece "Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island".

Thanks!

dora:

The Prosecutor’s Proposal (dark romance, Korean so short episodes) iQIYI

A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream (artistic Chinese drama, really gorgeous) Gaga

The Edge of Horizon (Thai melodrama with fabulous new couple of beautiful and talented actors) Gaga

I’m definitely checking out winter sun. I might give the other two a try too. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a KBL, so I hope I can find time to start that one soon.

dora:
I have a private list where I add every new show that comes out that I’m not watching,

My private list is all but forgotten. There is no way I will be able to update it now. I will just stick to the occasional recs on here, especially for shows not on MDL.

Indie Art Girl:
My top current fav is Winter Sun

This has now become a high priority watch for me.

Great! Cuz it's actually the official group watch BL atm!! I forgot to mention that part, lol!! Please join us!! 😆

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. The premise was really interesting, but I just couldn't fully connect emotionally with the story.

As for SkyNani, I actually watched High School Frenemy just a few weeks ago and really liked it.

And I completely agree about Krist. He really surprised me in this role I hope he gets to play more complex characters in the future.

ChermChey ep 8 : This episode was a bit more serious, and I actually enjoyed it more that way.

Knot ep 1 : Good first episode I'm not obsessed yet but I'm curious and I really wasn't expecting him to actually bite him. I thought he was going to get pushed away.

I didn't even recognize him. Wow, kudos.

I felt like this was an introduction first season instead of a stand alone series. Like we will get season 2 were Pete has to find the other pieces of the demon inside of him. At least this is what the drama felt like to me.

The Lie We Lived In - episode 7 to Finale

I feel like I am missing a crucial part of the story's development, because I am not convinced of the feelings that exist between the couple.

Anyway, the plot twists were good.

I honestly do I not have a rating in mind, so I am going to break down a rating right here, right now.

Production - 2/2

Writing - 1/2

Chemistry - 1/2

Acting - 2/2

Music - 1/1

Special 10 scene - 0/1

Total Rating score = 7/10

Not a bad rating or series.

Knot - episode 1

Let me preface by saying that my main motivation for watching this series is the promised smut that BoatOat is known to deliver well; explicit. I am under no delusions to think that this series would be an excellent one in terms of writing. However, I did not expect the very first episode to be this poor; even the first episode of My Stubborn was not so bad.

In my opinion the most glaring gap in this story so far is Phatsa's lack of knowledge about the Omegaverse in which he exists. It is plausible for him to be unaware of his own designation, but for him to be so unaware of the Omegaverse it is quite odd. It is not a case where Alphas and Omegas are living in the shadows here. By the actions and words of all the other characters in the series the Omegaverse is no secret being kept.

Due to Phatsa's ignorance there are scenes wasted on explaining things to him. This resulted in those scenes seeming like filler scenes. Honestly, this episode felt inadequate as if they did not have enough to make up the 45 minutes.

In terms of production I am not impressed. It looks cheap. I am getting the same vibes as I got from OMG! Vampire: Uncut Version and Love Syndrome III: Uncut Version in terms of quality - of both production and writing.

This premiere episode is very underwhelming; disappointed, but not surprised.

RXinw:

Oh wow.

I researched the whole Omegaverse/ABO theme on Wikipedia cuz I didn't know hardly anything and thought it would help before starting Knot. tbh it scared me away from watching this (and any other ABO) series enough that I deleted it from my PTW list. After your comments and stuff I read on the drama page I figure my decision wasn't a totally bad one.

Dang though, is BoatOat going to be another TutorYim in the train wreck genre of series?!?

Tiffany:

Which drama should I pick up first from my on-hold list ?

At 25:00, in Akasaka Season 2

Kidnap

Love Upon a Time

Blossom (non BL Chinese drama)
