You might not need a VPN if you're not in the us tbh but in the us, the show's geoblocked now

Try again. The geo-restriction may be fixed. It seems to have been a mistake. See Saeng's posts in our Thai PBS thread. https://kisskh.at/discussions/thai-dramas-lakorns-movies/144336-thai-pbs-info-recs?page=3

If it isn't, or it returns, please consider writing to them to ask about it. Info on how to do that from Saeng.

 Da Bao:

I'll look into this to the best of my ability later today. So far going on a walk and having breakfast. 😊

Thank you dear :)

 RealNevermore:
Also, does anyone know about any sapphic interactions in this drama? https://kisskh.at/774863-mueang-laplae

This one is easily found on kisskh w/ subs but the MDL tags don't say anything about lesbians being in it. Not even the spoiler tags (if you click on Vote tags you'll see them). Now, is it worth watching? Maybe, for the matriarchy and queen vibes. But I don't think this is lesbian romance. Just going by tags alone.

 RealNevermore:
Also do we have a page for this one? Any link to watch this with Eng sub? This is a doomed yuri, my poison hahaha

We will probably never have a page for this one because it's a Vietnamese movie!

You can vote for Vietnam to be added to MDL here: Add Vietnam to the Database next - Suggestions - kisskh

So far this suggestion has 900 votes since 2018. It would be amazing if we could add Vietnamese series and movies to MDL, but that's probably not gonna happen anytime soon or ever.

They added Singapore afaik because a lot of people flooded the site by trying to add a BL, The Sparkle in Your Eyes. At least that's what I know about this.

As for this movie, let me find it now.

This is the Letterboxd page: ‎The Lady Assassin (2013) directed by Nguyễn Quang Dũng • Reviews, film + cast • Letterboxd

Found it on Youtube, without subs: The Lady Assassin 2013 MartialArts - YouTube

I also found some subs on a torrent file. The torrent itself is on Avistaz.to so if you have an account there, you can download it all. BUT I'm giving you the subs on DM for this. You can download the movie from Youtube, yes, the entire thing, with NewPipe. It's an Android app that mirrors Youtube. It has a download button that works like a charm for every video (you cannot watch 18+ tagged content on it though).

NewPipe - a free YouTube client

And so, this is done. Now back to Mhom Ped Sawan.

Thx for prompting me to check out newpipe. I didn't know it worked on android! I use a similar app, FreeTube, on my pc, but it doesn't work on phones. I like that these apps allow you to have YouTube subscriptions, playlists, recommendations etc without needing to be logged into a Google account. Google really needs to frick off with all of its tracking of personal data, and then selling that data to advertisers, insurance companies, ICE agents, or whoever else is willing to pay.

For downloading songs and videos I use an app called ytdownloader, which is only focused on giving you download options, like different formats and compression levels, but also different websites to download from. Ytdownloader is for PC's, not phones.

As a heads up to anyone interested in trying newpipe, I couldn't find it in the Google Play Store. The playstore only showed me ads for other video players, and one app called Newpipè that I'm quite sure is not the same thing, but is trying to look like the same thing, and that's really sketchy to me. I went and got the real Newpipe off the F-droid app store instead. It makes a lot of sense that Newpipe isn't on the Google play store, because obviously YouTube belongs to Google, and Google would like to have your data, which Newpipe is preventing.

 Ryn:

You're welcome and yes, NewPipe is not on the Google Play store. I had to always get it from their own website. :)

I'm concerned with Google privacy, too. But sadly, not enough to give up Youtube entirely. For desktop, I use Youtube directly. For phone, I use NewPipe. But the phone's an Android that's not Degoogled so. Yeah.

Anyway, maybe one day I'll be free of Google myself? But Gmail is an issue because some companies require you apply to their job offers with gmail accounts only (happened to me a couple times when I was looking for a job last year). Granted, I don't think I'll ever have a normal 9-5 job, so there's that. =_=

@RealNevermore

Found an interesting review of this series on Letterboxd - ‎‘Mom Ped Sawan’ review by Plutonian • Letterboxd

I also asked Lyson, someone who watched Mhom Ped Sawan with english subs afaik, where has he watched it. I know him from a thread where I replied to his questions and yeah, I'm waiting for the DM reply.

I can ask around other people. There's some account that hasn't been online since November 2025 that supposedly is a fansubber or knows someone who is and who subbed Mhom Ped Sawan.

Also, gave up on actually finding this series subbed on the normal channels. It's probably hidden in some Discord server, if anything. Or on other websites that don't appear in internet searches.

Anyway, I think Lyson can't help either. He most likely watched it with machine translation from the actual Thai subs they have on the website. Or something like that.

This is not lost media, but it's definitely frustrating media lol

 Ryn:
I use a similar app, FreeTube

BTW, I tried using FreeTube on desktop, too. But it would IP block me. I would watch a few videos and then suddenly it would say I cannot access the videos any longer. I forget the exact error it gave me back then. So I had to switch to NewPipe on phone for a while, and then when I realized I gotta watch short films and GMM and other series on YouTube (on a bigger screen), I gave up and used Youtube directly.

The workaround would be to get NewPipe to work on an Android tablet, but if you want the tablet to be Degoogled, you run into other issues.

Also, as for Degoogled Android, I would very much like to have this one. https://www.fairphone.com/

Sorry for derailing the club guys, we'll take this to DM if there's anything more to say about it.

I see, I saw someone suggesting this drama under a sapphic conversations. Thank you for clarifying :)

 RealNevermore:
Thank you for clarifying :)

No worries. Although it might not be tagged, there are most likely plenty of women in the series. Imo, a good watch either way.

[Vietsub] Dập Nến, Cháy Tình - Tập 1 - BiliBili

I found Mhom Ped Sawan, only the first 8 eps with Vietnamese subs.

Now, idk about you but you could painstakingly input these subs into deepl DeepL Translate: The world's most accurate translator and get something akin to an English subs

but only first 8 eps that I can see here, ep 8 was uploaded on Jan 7, 2026

I'm saying this because it's "easier" to write in Vietnamese, despite the various accents?? (and different letters) they have on the words.

Also thank you for the link of sub, if the sub timing mismatch with the YT raw, is there any synced raw on that website? I use 4k video downloader named software for YT downloads, works like a charm, gives lots of options also like download only audio, subs if available etc. You can try that out too and thanks for the suggestions :) I really wanna watch the Mom Ped Sawan because it won some awards as well as it is a historical set up. Hope the company releases it with sub in future.

 Da Bao:
But sadly, not enough to give up Youtube entirely.

Oh yeah no me neither, but with FreeTube I'm really not giving up on all the things I do still want from YouTube, y'know, the videos, the subscriptions, the comments, the ease of use, everything. I'm only getting rid of the tracking and the ads. The one thing I do miss is the ability to leave my own YouTube comments. You need a Google account for that. Oh, and it doesn't sync across devices, because it can't, because your data isn't being stored on any external servers. But you can easily import and export subscriptions so it's fine for me.

But idk I really prefer FreeTube's easily customizable interface, its actually functional search function that isn't overrun with unrelated personalized recommendations for some reason, the way it never defaults to AI audio tracks for videos in other languages, the toggle for automatically skipping sponsor segments, the way that I simply have settings for what I want the default video quality to be rather than having to manually increase it for every video, etcetera etcetera, so to me the tradeoff is absolutely worth it. Having used FreeTube for like half a year at this point, I find myself super annoyed at YouTube's interface whenever I do stumble back into it. It feels so in your face and attention grabby. Exhausting. Like, rather than you wanting things from the website, the website wants things from you.

 Da Bao:
Anyway, maybe one day I'll be free of Google myself? But Gmail is an issue because some companies require you apply to their job offers with gmail accounts only

Gmail is an issue for me too. I've been slowly switching to Protonmail, but I have two decades worth of online accounts linked to my Gmail so it's a process lol. But I didn't know there were companies that actually required Gmail. That's so weird.

My phone isn't deGoogled yet either. I'll do that when my current one breaks, because there is no deGoogled OS compatible with the one I have now. But I might as well get used to deGoogled software ahead of time. My PC is de-Microsofted though, and it is glorious haha. No Copilot, Windows Recall or forced updates for me :)

 Da Bao:
Granted, I don't think I'll ever have a normal 9-5 job, so there's that. =_=

Yah me neither. Disability stinks.

 Da Bao:
BTW, I tried using FreeTube on desktop, too. But it would IP block me. I would watch a few videos and then suddenly it would say I cannot access the videos any longer.

Yeah YouTube does that. If you use a VPN the problem goes away. I use protonvpn. It's freemium and not tracking you.

 RealNevermore:
I really wanna watch the Mom Ped Sawan

Well, except for the currently still uploading Vietnamese subs, I don't know what else I can find. >_<

 Ryn:
Yeah YouTube does that. If you use a VPN the problem goes away. I use protonvpn. It's freemium and not tracking you.

Thing is, I was indeed using a VPN and it would block it every time I switched countries. But it was BitDefender VPN, not very good imo. I will try Air VPN next. I got it recommended for me by Avistaz staff. Since I have a problem with torrenting, my country blocks seeding =_= I hate it here for real.

 Ryn:
Like, rather than you wanting things from the website, the website wants things from you.

Exactly. It's really annoying. I do want to move to FreeTube but let me get a good VPN first. I do have Proton Mail, but no ProtonVPN. I don't think it'll help me with the above mentioned problem.

 Ryn:
My PC is de-Microsofted though, and it is glorious haha.

omg what do you use? I had Ubuntu for a while last year but had to buy a Windows 11 license because my mom didn't want to use Linux and we have encountered an issue with a document that would only open with Adobe Reader (of some kind). But like, deMicrosofted computer sounds really cool. Is it Linux? Something else? Which Linux flavor? :)

 Ryn:
Disability stinks.

Yep and mental illness alike. Although I'm working on it and now I'm in the best mental shape I've been in uhh ages, I still will have this for the rest of my life. At some point, I wish I just had depression. That's easier.

 Da Bao:
Which Linux flavor? :)

Linux Mint, the most noob friendly one, of course :)

 Da Bao:

Oh right I forgot countries could just block that, despite having lived in China myself, lol I'm dumb. Maybe a proxy would work instead? Do I actually know what the difference is? No. No I do not. Tunnelbear? VPN's and proxies do come with risk though, because the server that reroutes your internet traffic can track everything you do. A lot of VPNs themselves are actually databrokers (deep dive). But in proton we trust.

 Da Bao:
document that would only open with Adobe Reader (of some kind)

I did not know that was a possibility, but I think my solution would be to open it on an android phone instead, or install adobe reader with wine, or to open it in a windows virtual machine (unactivated because heck no I'm not paying microslop for a license, and windows still works, it just won't let you customize your theme). Obviously you wouldn't want to be doing that all the time because that's annoying, but I'd assume a document like that is a rare occurrence?

So far I haven't really run into any significant issues on linux mint. It does take extra effort to learn stuff, for sure, but if an ex-technophobe like me can do it, I think it can't be that hard? It just seems like windows is going to continue going downhill, while linux continues to get better, so I might as well put effort into learning alternatives sooner rather than later.

 Da Bao:
but no ProtonVPN

I mean you can just try it for free. The limitation of the free version is that you only get 12 countries to choose from, but for FreeTube to work it doesn't really matter which country you're connected to.

 Da Bao:

Some disabilities are mental. The line between mental illness and disability is fuzzy tbh. One is permanent and the other in principle temporary? Some are more disabling than others? With some you can still have a job and with others you can't?

 Ryn:
But in proton we trust.

Also, when I tried sending an email from Proton to an email address of a local pharmacy, they didn't receive it. I don't know why. Maybe they block anything that isn't major services like Gmail and Yahoo?

 Ryn:
Maybe a proxy would work instead?

I've been told, either Air VPN, PIA VPN or a seedbox. I'd like a seedbox better, but idk. It's quite expensive for now.

 Ryn:
but I'd assume a document like that is a rare occurrence?

Yes, it was rare. A document for my grandfather of some sort. I forget exactly what it was. But it would only open properly with Adobe Reader DC afaik because of the way you could complete some fields differently? Idk.

 Ryn:
It just seems like windows is going to continue going downhill

Yeah I don't have high hopes of Windows 12. I'd rather have Linux too, from which I work daily and then a different laptop for gaming on Windows. But that takes resources I don't have right now, so I'm just stuck, for a while at least. Linux Mint sounds good though. I had a bootable USB stick with it, it ran smoothly even if installed on a 64 GB stick lol

 Ryn:
I mean you can just try it for free.

I can?? Tubi website here I come!! That site is free but has the annoying feature that it's geoblocked for only USA. But it can be bypassed with VPN so, omg the Filipino GL movie and some other ones are there!

 Ryn:
With some you can still have a job and with others you can't?

Well technically, the mental illness I have (paranoid schizophrenia) is considered a handicap if you got it prior to 27 y/o or something? At least in my country, Romania. But it's annoying because while I have proper treatment now, I'm not allowed to drive and if I reproduce, I just transfer the illness genetically lol

Not like I really wanted to do either of those things, but having a job is important and so, I'm just a bit miffed I can't go for a 9 to 5 like the usual person. Maybe some other type of job or part time where I can only work for 4 hours or 6 hours... would work better. Physically I have none issues though, except for being overweight and out of shape. At least there's that lol

Let's return to GL and I'm gonna say: I wanted to watch this GL movie, Billie and Emma recently this month but realized I don't have a VPN anymore due to BitDefender VPN expiring. I'll try with Proton VPN now :D

Billie and Emma - kisskh
