Title: 大叔罗曼史 (both seasons)
ML: Zhao Ting Yi, Wang Dao Tie, Bai Fang Wen
FL: Chen Yu Ling, Ma Xiao Wei, Zhang Chu Xuan

Fun, heart-warming, with unexpected sad moments.

The three MLs have been friends for 17 years; now at the age of 35, four eyes getting a divorce, skinny had been single for his whole life, and big head still playing with women in every chance but secretly having a crush on four eyes' younger sister that's already married. After skinny ruining what could have been big head's hotpot date, big head posting false advertisement searching for a female roommate and signed the rental contract with her since he hold skinny's condo's property management right. The drama revolved around their daily life and love life with four eyes trying to win back his ex-wife, skinny got a gen z intruding his life day and night, and big head still playing around with women but still helping his secret crush in every chance she needed helps. Reminds me of Tokyo Bachelors.

This is my first time watching Bai Fang Wen. Wow, he's really good, I'll follow his works from now on. I also love the insert songs; listening to Zhou Shen's Disperse the Crowd and Hu Xia's I Only Like You. Only knew those two songs hehe

Btw, I highly recommend anyone who wants to know the leads' names follow the YT channel in the previous comments here: [X] as I've noticed they always post lead names in their titles

Thanks for that rec. I was watching a show and I couldn't find the FL name. Sure enough, I found it within a minute using your link. Thanks.

I didn't really liked it. It's not a very realistic portray of successful men in their mid-thirties. 1ML is a lawyer but his wife asked for a divorce and he gave it to her without even knowing why and then didn't fight for custody of their child. Like what??

2ML is pining for the 1st ML's sister who was married and has a kid for over 10 years. Of course, conveniently, the ugly old husband of the 1ML's sister is going to cheat on her because he has the looks and the money?? Really now.

3ML who is 35 and looks hot as hell, has never dated. There must be something seriously wrong for a male in their 30s who has never dated and there was no reason given. Definitely from not lack of opportunities since he's successful, rich and handsome. Then he falls for someone over 10 years younger because they have so much in common? Ok . I have nothing to say.

I would really like a more realistic portray of men in their 30s and this is not it. Just my opinion.

Most vertical dramas were unrealistic actually. That's why many people watched it.

Well, he actually asked, and she answered with "you haven't filled the cookies jar for 6 months," which actually implied that he ignored her and he broke his promise from their early marriage to never let that jar empty.

 RilakkumasBubbleTea:

That husband was working faraway and only went home a few days in a year. Even irl, many people cheated because they had a long-distance relationship with their partners. And many people love their partners but still cheating on them because of various reasons we can't understand, but it happened. And that husband was glib-tongued and looked kind and trustworthy. I really thought big head will end up with his friend.

 RilakkumasBubbleTea:

He was an orphan who had no sense of belonging and always kept a safe distance with everyone, almost unapproachable. He also had two best friends and a "borrowed family" in his teacher's, he basically didn't need anyone else. He can always rely on them for everything. And there's so many various people in this world. I bet he didn't actually plan to date or marry.

 RilakkumasBubbleTea:
Then he falls for someone over 10 years younger because they have so much in common?

There's 101 reasons to fall in love. But imo the roommate was kind, filial, thrifty, cheerful, pretty, adaptable, motivated, independent, and very cute. And really, when someone said "I like you," it's really hard to say I hate you or being unhappy about it. Isn't it?

I'm glad you enjoyed it but it wasn't for me. Regarding the 1ML, he only knew the reason AFTER they have been divorced for some time but he didn't know at the time. And she asked for a divorce with no discussion and just blindsided the guy. I get she wants to find herself again BUT that's not the way to do it as a mature 30 years old with a young child. It's supposed to be heartwarming but I didn't find myself rally for them to get back together.

I know many verticals doesn't make sense but I guess I have high expectation with the actors and the production, as this wasn't the typical VSD where you just turn off your brain and enjoy the hot passionate kisses to make up for the lack of cohesive plot.

 RilakkumasBubbleTea:

That's okay, everyone has their own preferences.

 RilakkumasBubbleTea:
Regarding the 1ML, he only knew the reason AFTER they have been divorced for some time but he didn't know at the time.

Some people divorced for the weirdest reason (like that cookies jar thing). 1ML at first also confused since he thought that's only cookies jar for God's sake. But the fact that it's been empty for 6 months meant she thought about their relationship for 6 months and 1ML never changed during those 6 months. The first time the cookies jar was empty, she ran happily to inform him that it's time to refill it, only to received cold hand gesture telling her to go away. It's in fact not about cookies jar, it's about piled up stress. In many dramas many characters asked for divorce or break up for the smallest reason. It's not about that smallest reason, it's about how one character changed while the other stayed the same or one character leveled up while the other stayed the same, it's about the feelings that changed, it's about the stress that piled up, it's about the resentments that cannot be said. There's many drama that's like that. For example in Saikou no Rikon, FL divorced ML for that smallest reason, but she only said the real reason(s) near the end of the episodes a few months after their divorce finalized. I think it's pretty normal.

While I can't say I agree with FL, I thought that hand gesture was super impolite. If I were her, I will ignore him until he apologized. She could have said it to him ofc about her want to get back to work, but again the character setting was up to the scriptwriter for the convenience of the plot. And she asked for divorce was set for the plot; for the comedy, for the conflict, for the three best friends' bond. If he's not divorced, many storyline will be eliminated.

I usually watch vertical dramas for the fun hehe, rarely watch slow-burn romance. I hope you could find better drama that could make up for this one bad experience. Happy watching.

тhank u very much

I love vertical dramas, so it's nice to join a group where we can share links and discuss them :)

My situation with vertical dramas is a bit unique though. I know people usually watch them on YouTube, but I can't because the distorted audio really bothers me. Like, clinically. Sometimes I will suffer through them, but I really prefer to watch my verticals with the full, original audio on dailymotion, rumble, or reelxia. I'm usually good at finding verticals on these sites with the full, original audio, but I've been having a hard time finding a good upload for Hong Luan Yin.

Has anyone found it somewhere with the full audio and subs? I found it on dailymotion with the full audio, but it's unsubbed. If it's on any official apps for shorts like iQiyi or Drama Box, I'd even consider signing up for a free trial and watching it on there.

Thanks in advance!

Now I know you said distorted, but I didn't find any distortion in this one tbh, unless there was something i missed.

So, I’m looking for an upload with the full, original audio. For every single upload on YouTube, they have to mute/remove the music/background audio so they don’t get sued for copyright infringement. This results in hollow and/or distorted background audio.

I can usually find videos with the full audio on Dailymotion, but I’m having a hard time finding this one.
