Chun Mo Rionnag:

It's New Year's Day, so I had the traditional steak pie.
Sides are Brussels sprouts, and carrot & swede mash.

Thank you for sharing!  Sounds good! 😋

We had our New Year’s dinner which is not terribly exciting but definitely healthier than our recent Christmas indulgences. 😄

Mixed beans. We’re supposed to eat black-eyed peas but I loathe them.  The few in our bean mix will have to do all the lucky work this year. 😁 Collard greens (sautéed until wilted)-green for the color of our money.  Cornbread-supposedly the color of gold.  And some leftover  Christmas stocking candy for dessert.

Oooh. I think I've heard of beans being lucky for New Year's, but I can't remember from which culture. I've always wanted to try cornbread; it sounds delicious.

I’ve made cashew cream lasagna soup a couple of times.  It is decadently good.  😋

Just a little cooking humor. I’m deleting pics off my phone and ran across this. 😁

today was sweet potato fries and teriyaki baked tofu ,..  they went Fine together but a bit weird.   not sure why he got me sweet potato fries , they were ok but i prefer sweet potatoes browned in a skillet with garlic n butter instead.

Nearly everything is better with garlic and butter!

tonight i try to do a recipe from my country, Brazil, i always bought because it difficult to do, but i did in my house and it tastes delicious. Is a traditional Afro-Brazilian street food from my city, Bahia. essentially a  deep-fried fritter made from mashed black- eyed peas and a oil called "dendê", is also made from onions, garlic and often slipt open and stuffed with fillings like tomato and a creamy called "vatapá", it can comes dried shrimp, if you want spicy sauce and a lil salad. its open with all fillings like a hamburger, it so yummy, and if you have the chance to try it, you will love it!

too true lol i Thought about dipping them in somesorta honey butter concoction but opted for honey bbq i had in the fridge,  it didn't pair as good as i hoped after the first few ...  think tomorrows dinner is gonna be tacos , quick n easy , i'll probably just toss my toppings into a bowl n eat with tortilla chips since its less messy than the hard shells he likes . i prefer actual corn ones you fry in oil instead but not worth the effort just for me

I made a lentil, chickpea, veggie stew served over rice similar to this one.

Italian wedding soup then lemon yogurt later and half bologna sandwich before bed

Taco soup served with tortilla chips.  The frigid air is barreling down on us with strong winds.  Freezing drizzle, sleet, and lots of snow are about to hit.  Unlike some of our northern friends we don’t get enough significant frozen precip to have the proper equipment.  Most of the state will be shut down for a few days.  For everyone in the path wishing you warm thoughts and warming food! 🍲
