May was a slow reading month.  I finished a book about women in the early church.   Then I read The Wave which was based on a real experiment an American history teacher did in his class in 1967 to explain how the Germans could follow along with the Nazis.  The experiment lasted for a week and had to be shut down because it got out of hand.  Independent thought went down as obedience went up and those who opposed joining were harassed or shunned.  Short but powerful read about how quickly authoritarianism can take hold  in a community and why it has to be stopped quickly.

Thanks to the recommendation by @The Butterfly I finished this one  =>

I'd give it a 5/5 just by the sheer amount of research and insights the author gave on various topics why there's so much different/wrong things going on regarding gender historically and still now. It's very scientific, tons of sources mentioned but not boring at all. Interesting facts about why medicine is and was so much men-focused and how bodies of men/women are acutally behaving differently, e.g. regarding heart attacks and so on. And if you ever wanted to know why getting rid of the snow first from the sideway and only then from the road matters, it's a read for you :-)

Currently reading mates dates and sleepover secrets. I was kind of going through someone's pile of Books. And I was just checking what's the book about. Found myself giggling reading random 7th chapter. There was at end of chapter was letter written between teenagers protagonist and her best friend. Which made me curious about the age of book as it was in really bad condition. So it was released in 2002.

One more thing love the fat thick pages and smell of this book.

Read Choose Wonder Over Worry by Amber Rae for June.

Last night I started reading Leaving Islam: Apostates Speak Out by Ibn Warraq. So far so good.

Meh.  I don't particularly care for first person POV.  You really have to like getting into their brain and I wasn't crazy about this guy.  Took me nearly the whole month to finish it and even then I skimmed a lot to cross the finish line.

For June I finished Into the Riverlands by Nghi Vo! Not my fav from this series, but it was fun to see references to wuxia. Think I need to reread it.

My June went by reading White Nights by Dostoevsky,  it was good!

July is for 3 Men in a boat, it is a British humour, already past 2 chapters!

Welcome, dear friend!

I'm currently reading the 4th book of the series! Liked the first two books.

By the way, did you know there's a movie  based on this book?

Hey!

I have read this and really liked it but it was a bit too sad for me so I won't be reading the other books in the series...

I like the book so far, I must get my hands on the rest of them.

Really? I wasn’t aware of that. I have to look it up after I finish the book. Thanks for the info  ^^

I don’t want it to sound weird but I kinda "enjoy" reading sad stories recently.

These were my recent reads, every one of them is sad and heartbreaking but also wonderful and I loved them. The Kite Runner was really hard for me tho, some parts were really hard to read, hard to digest...

I just wanted to share it but if you don’t like sad thing I really do not recommend these...

I read Tuesdays with Morrie recently. It was sad but also uplifting. 😊
