Here I am again spamming the club but I can't help but notice how amazing this villain's support role is in the drama Big Mouth. All in all, Yang Kyung Won is an amazing actor in all of the roles I watched him portray, but Kong Ji Hun stood out to me.. The way I'm always surprised by his performance in all of the scenes that involve him. Here is an example : (I don't wanna show much bc I don't wanna spoil the drama which is btw really good if you're a Thriller lover like me!)

YES, THIS MAN IS SO UNDERRATED!!! One of my fav kdrama villains ngl. He was so extra and petty in his evil-ness which is always such a + when it comes to antagonists! I love it when villains are intimidating and pose threats that are difficult for the protagonists to overcome!

I agree with you, Xue Yang is one of the most favored and mentioned Antagonists, especially since his cruelty is a reaction towards the world's grievances at their time, which caused him to get treated poorly and slowly become very hateful towards the world.  I believe that MXTX´s character development is truly unmatched.

AVAC RECOMMENDATION: Series that revolves around the difficulties of WOMENHOOD in ANCIENT CHINA, also the complexity of calling someone GOOD or EVIL

SI JIN (aired March 2025)

For anyone interested in the complexity of morally judgeable characters, and shows where the situations are so complex that it's hard just to call out a pure evil person, I would suggest this series. While it has some weaknesses in storytelling, the difficulties and grievances of womanhood are taken seriously and are thoroughly displayed -- I´d even assume they´re the key struggle of this series.

The antagonists of the main character are usually very complex, it´s a lot about how women try to survive in a patriarchal world, by supporting each other or by pushing another woman deeper into the abyss of inequality. To be honest, many of their grievances are somewhat applicable till today. And that is incredibly heartbreaking.

I can only name one relevant character, Cui Ming Yue, who can be more of an "evil from the roots" kind of character. But even she has her background.

Overall, NOT THE BEST historical C-Drama, but one I enjoyed because of the sociological complexity.

Antagonist Villain Appreciation Challenge

Being interested in antagonists is something that connects us, and it stems from something rooted in the depth of our crooked minds and fantasie -- and sometimes it´s just for fun.

While this is meant to be a fun challenge, don´t forget that we are still on the web, where your private data and personal information should be protected. Therefore, only go as deep as it´s also safe for you.  This Appreciation Club is meant as a haven for beautiful crooked lost souls, but it shouldn´t be the root of chaos for anyone. With that being said, let´s explore the depths of our appreciation together:

As of this day, who is THE antagonist or THE villain that you thought back to the most? For example, when you were watching a different show or movie, who popped up in your mind when you did not enjoy the writing of other antagonists as much?

↠ As of this day, which antagonist has blown your mind in depth and complexity of their characters and their motives? What makes them so special to you?

↠ As of this day, what made you feel appreciation towards well-written antagonists? Is there a connection to something that concerns you personally?

↠ As of this day, who was the first antagonist to ever catch your lingering attention? Looking back, do you still think they´re a well-written persona?
