I rarely watch K-historical dramas, but everyone around me seems to watch it. I remember my colleague really like The Tale of Lady Ok, she even kinda force me to watch it. It looks great, but not my cup of tea. For me, I really like Knight Flower. You could check them out.

So they don't have any courtroom drama right? No kings and politics?

1. Fashion 70s - if you count 70s as a historical era.

2. Grudge: The Revolt of Gumiho

3. Sungkyunkwan Scandal - it’s basically a rom-com and bromance drama, but I’m not sure if its plot included any politics.

4. The Firstborn - a family drama, set in the 1960s.

5. The Hymn of Death - set in the 1920s.

I don’t know about The Tale of Lady Ok, but Knight Flower’s main theme is the fight between the heroes and heroines against corruption in the country, so it’s basically political.

I don't know of any that have zero but these have very little compared to usual historical kdramas since the setting is outside the palace and the main characters are not royal:

And The Rebel does have a lot of politics but the king is the villain and the protagonists are all common people so maybe?

I also highly remember The Bridal Mask - It’s set in wartime and involves politics but it doesn’t have any kings or royalty. I don’t know if you’re interested.

I'm asking my colleague and while she can't remember, she thinks there's none.

For Knight Flower, eh, imo it's not the main focus, but yes, there is.

These are romcoms if it's your cup of tea you might love to watch these dramas. The political issue is not that heavy. I would also put short reason of why i love these

- The Secret Romantic Guesthouse (the main leads are all common sense, their bond just right)

- Bon Appetite Your Majesty (food!!)

- Secret Royal Inspector and Joy (women power)

- Flower Crew (just cuties hanging out)
