Saeng:
They say they are happy that I (we) are interested in their programme, but everything produced by Thai PBS themselves should be available worldwide (if they bought a license from foreign productions, then you can only watch from Thailand).
So it should be working as expected. That's useful to know, and a big relief. Maybe they accidentally put everything on the geo-restricted setting they use for foreign productions? That was an early thought.
My attempts: Firefox, Vivaldi (chromium-based) and Safari desktop browsers on a Mac. My Firefox has a fair bit of privacy protections but I haven't added any extensions to the Safari.
I've been including recently watched Thai PBS original programming in checks. (First two episodes of The Summer We Met as I was watching that. The Master of Khon Thai documentary. How to Suffer 101 as I'd been looking in on the first episode every few weeks hoping for subs.)
Have tried with VPN set to Thailand and without from the UK. And both TH and EN language settings.
Everything seems normal until it comes to actually playing the programme. Every attempt returns the same geo-restricted error code.
Playback Denied: Location
Error Code: PLAYER_ERR_GEO_RESTRICTED Technical details : Video is unavailable from your current location.
On my iPad, duckduckgo browser gives the same geo restricted error code. Firefox browser there doesn't even get that far. The VIPA app will autoplay (not sure if it's first episode or preview) without subs, but I can't get it to play later episodes. (That's probably an interface thing instead, haven't gotten the app onto my desktop yet. Forgot to try that.)
For the few programmes I know of with English subs still available via the thaipbs.or.th site itself, those still work. It's only vipa that's a problem.
https://www.thaipbs.or.th/program/DreamALittleDream/episodes/96839 (thaipbs works)
https://vipa.me/en/contents/6599/dreamalittledream (same programme, vipa, geo-restricted)
Thanks for writing to them Saeng, you're much better organised than I am. Have you linked them to this thread? Might save you having to retype all of this.
