 Saeng:
They say they are happy that I (we) are interested in their programme, but everything produced by Thai PBS themselves should be available worldwide (if they bought a license from foreign productions, then you can only watch from Thailand).

So it should be working as expected. That's useful to know, and a big relief. Maybe they accidentally put everything on the  geo-restricted setting they use for foreign productions? That was an early thought.

My attempts: Firefox, Vivaldi (chromium-based) and Safari desktop browsers on a Mac. My Firefox has a fair bit of privacy protections but I haven't added any extensions to the Safari.

I've been including recently watched Thai PBS original programming in checks. (First two episodes of The Summer We Met as I was watching that. The Master of Khon Thai documentary. How to Suffer 101 as I'd been looking in on the first episode every few weeks hoping for subs.)

Have tried with VPN set to Thailand and without from the UK.  And both TH and EN language settings.

Everything seems normal until it comes to actually playing the programme. Every attempt returns the same geo-restricted error code.

Playback Denied: Location

Error Code: PLAYER_ERR_GEO_RESTRICTED        Technical details        : Video is unavailable from your current location.

On my iPad, duckduckgo browser gives the same geo restricted error code. Firefox browser there doesn't even get that far. The VIPA app will autoplay (not sure if it's first episode or preview) without subs, but I can't get it to play later episodes. (That's probably an interface thing instead, haven't gotten the app onto my desktop yet. Forgot to try that.)

For the few programmes I know of with English subs still available via the thaipbs.or.th site itself, those still work. It's only vipa that's a problem.

https://www.thaipbs.or.th/program/DreamALittleDream/episodes/96839 (thaipbs works)

https://vipa.me/en/contents/6599/dreamalittledream (same programme, vipa, geo-restricted)

Thanks for writing to them Saeng, you're much better organised than I am. Have you linked them to this thread? Might save you having to retype all of this.

It was already agreed to add Thai PBS to the Channels section of the 2026 Thai Watch Challenge before the geo-location glitch. Fortunately programmes which were subtitled on the thaipbs.or.th site aren't effected by the restrictions so it can still be used.

Here's a list of them I made for the Watch Challenge, and then forgot to share with the thread. Fortunately Biloba's list still had these links handy. There may be more - if you come across any, please let me know via a comment in this thread or on the Thai Drama Club's list. Thanks.

YT may be another possibility for some.

Anyway, these are an easy way to get your fix of Thai PBS earnestness if you're in need =D

So, I sent two follow-up e-mails (one before Christmas and one two days ago), screenshots and links to this thread attached. There hasn't been a reply yet. Thai PBS programmes are still geolocked.

I asked on reddit, if I maybe misunderstood their first reply, but native speakers there assured me I didn't: https://www.reddit.com/r/learnthai/comments/1qbkkn2/please_help_me_check_if_i_understood_this_message/

Maybe they'll look into it if more people asked? It would certainly not hurt if some of you here would send an enquiry or two.
Since my first mail to the admin team got a reply, I assume the address given here is functional: https://vipa.me/contact-us
There are also a contact addresses on the main Thai PBS website, https://www.thaipbs.or.th/org/contact/
Maybe it's even a good idea to send messages to all of them.

Thanks for the reminder. Anything with more than two steps is still a struggle for me. I did have the foresight to do the nominally difficult bit first and wrote a letter. I've DMed it to you to read over. My brain is stuck in over-explaining mode and that's pants for communicating across languages.

Hi, this might be out of the blue but I really want to watch Baan Bor Kor Tag subbed.

Baan Bor Kor Tag - kisskh

It's from Thai PBS and has Gun Atthaphan as main role. I want to watch it for him and I think the story's interesting too.

Anusaya from public MDL feeds told me to ask here because Thai PBS might sub their own projects (even if it's an old series).

Could I be pointed in the direction of English (or French, Spanish and my native tongue, Romanian) subs for Baan Bor Kor Tag please? ;_;

Much appreciated!!

I can't find it on Thai PBS and given the age I'm not surprised. So they'd have to dig it up and add it as well as sub it. There won't be enough interest to warrant that. Doesn't help that the BL crowd go right to stolen copies on pirate sites too instead of watching on the official site.

Nothing came up in a general internet search. And a series from 2013 - it may well not even be fan-subbed. Those deep into BL might remember something.

The YT link you posted on the title page has auto-translated English from auto-generated Thai. Sometimes those are good enough to make due with, especially if you understand some Thai as well. If those aren't enough, and there isn't a BL fan-sub lurking about somewhere, you'll just have to get cracking on learning the language =D

Thing is, I know a Babii fansubber but she said she'll have subtitles up... It's been a while.

So either I'm gonna have to pay her for subs or learn Thai. I think learning Thai is easier at this point in time.

Carla just pointed out on the comment page for "Hard Nights" that the georestriction has been lifted. (Must have happened recently, it still didn't work last night.)

I checked with "The Death of Khun Phra" and "The Summer We Met", and could start them both on the website and on the app.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that this will last.

It's working for me (one from Thun Thai) via a browser. This is such good news. Thank you.

Mom's Recipe is eng subbed on VIPA now!!! Esther, Aelm and screenwritten by Pranpramoon - which is what I'm currently most excited about because I am going to have to bid farewell to the lovely and fascinating Bussaba Lui Fai, which she also wrote, very soon and I don't want to.

Still hoping they get around to eng subs for How to Suffer.

Is the geo-restriction mistake back or is VIPA playing up for me? The last two I watched (gorgeous gentle historical lakorn Bussaba Lui Fai and women-centred youth lakorn Clean and Jerk) have subs on the thaipbs.or.th site and it's a quicker load so I've been using that one instead.

If you wouldn't mind, would you please take a moment to throw a 'like' on this Thai PBS list? I'm trying to get it show up in the Popular Lists list on the page for a title. The system throws in either my personal diary for the Thai Watch Challenge or another which leads to a "Requested Page Not Found" error, neither of which will help encourage random passersby to investigate more Thai PBS titles.

I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try. Thanks.

It worked :) Thank you. https://kisskh.at/39333-look-lek-dek-chop-yok

The VIPA app seems to be geo-restricted again. I was able to watch an episode on the app early yesterday, but not later or today.

I'm not sure what's a useful email address to write to. My letters to the VIPA admin (per Saeng's post above) have received no replies and watching through a browser continues to be geo-restricted. So I tried the one listed under Viewing Problem on this page (technic)  https://www.thaipbs.or.th/org/contact/

It might be useful to have a subject line in Thai stating the problem at least, even if I have to write the body of the letter in English. Can you suggest something, Saeng? (Or anyone else.)

Edit: App is working again. Wasn't my email (to Technic @ thaipbs.or.th), that bounced.
