Korean LGBT+ Main & Side Characters/Romances

LGBT+ representation in K-Dramas (and also Korean movies, but mainly K-Dramas) is few and far between. That's why I decided to make this list. There is progression, and though it's very slow, I want to highlight Korea specifically for taking steps in the right direction.

I'll put a few movies on here. But mostly just dramas.

My Japanese LGBT+ List: https://kisskh.at/list/3bgDg7k4

Recommended Resources for Indie/Hard-to-Find Queer Korean Content:

Strongberry (on YouTube). They mainly make short films, but they're generally high quality.

GagaOOLala. If a Korean LGBT+ short film can't be found on YouTube, it's probably here.

This list is not just for me, by the way. It's for all of you guys! And you're more than welcome to leave suggestions in the form of a comment or even send me a message, regardless of whether we are friends or not.

Will contain spoilers, at least regarding a character's sexuality/gender. May or may not contain other spoilers; I will attempt to keep it just to what is related to the rep. You have been warned!

  • Semantic Error

    101. Semantic Error

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    10

    #101

Main romance between two MLs (Jae Young & Sangwoo), with a not-really-love triangle.

Regarding Jae Young, he is very likely Bi or Pan. We get to hear a list of names of people he dated, but the gender isn't specified. He seems to me like he would be open to dating anyone, so my gut says he's Pan.

Regarding Sangwoo, he is likely Demisexual. He does not have an interest in intimate relationships until after getting to know Jae Young, and he also calls this attraction an "error" which indicates this is new to him. I plan to rewatch Semantic Error when I can just to make sure I didn't miss anything crucial or in case there is anything contradictory to this label.

Also, features either a Lesbian, Bi, or Pan SFL, Yu Na. She mentions to Sang Woo that while she had a girlfriend she was briefly interested in the same person as Jae Young‬; that person's gender is unclear. At the very least, we know she's interested in women.

My advice: STOP WASTING YOUR TIME AND CHECK THIS DRAMA OUT! It's abso-fucking-lutely fantastic!

Consent Highlight: During Ep 6 Sung Woo, regarding physical touch, says "Just let me know in advance." And Jae Young, listening to this, later asks for permission to pat his head.

Also, in Ep 7 Jae Young once again mentions his intentions in advance to Sung Woo, "Warning. I'm going to kiss you in one minute. If you want to run away, do it now."

    Korean Drama - 2022, 7 episodes

    10

    #102

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.

Regarding Seung Hyun, he is easily out as Gay and we love that!

My thoughts on the drama itself: I absolutely adored this well-shot and charming modern office romance and how it featured such a normal and mature relationship between two working adults. They can't help but bring up their work when they're together because they're passionate about what they do. Their emotions get the best of them but they quickly come together to discuss what's wrong as they know avoiding isn't the answer. They don't beat around the bush and are honest about what they want.

If you're looking for a short romance drama with a healthy relationship, sweet flirting, good communication, and little to no misunderstandings, then this is the drama for you.

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't much of an issue here.

My thoughts on the drama itself: I unexpectedly adored this. I loved how they both clearly like each other and rather than seeing one pine and the other eventually fall we as the audience are let in on their mutual feelings early on and are treated to the story of a man overcoming his cowardice as the object of his affections patiently waits as well as gently pushes him forward.

Also, I would be remiss to not acknowledge the amazing acting, fantastic buildup, and face-punching, pillow-suffocating cuteness they brought to the table.

    Main romance between two MLs.

Just posting my full review here as I want to gush about this drama: A refreshingly cool wind that blew a young, heart-fluttering love my way.

This far exceeded my expectations. I expected mediocre and was greeted with the memorable innocence of a first love, sincerity in words, actions, and music, conflicts that hit and weren't dragged out, and a beautiful dream small enough to carry in your pocket yet expansive enough as to fly out into the world.

This felt like a secret so gorgeous I wanted to keep it to myself. But I believe it deserves to be seen by many.

Side Note: Don't worry, the chemistry is there and romantic moments aren't brushed aside. This couple shines wonderfully and makes you root for them all along the way.

  • A Breeze of Love

    105. A Breeze of Love

    Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    9.5

    #105

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.

My thoughts on the drama itself: For a not-very-anticipated drama with a confusing synopsis, this managed to pull out all the stops. This. This is what A Shoulder to Cry On WANTED to be. It had tension, kept its focus, kept the conflict simple and unfolded the details of it bit by bit, and pulled the main leads and their complicated feelings together at every turn. And, best of all, their yearning was evident and put into action.

I recommend you go binge it right now!

Criticism: My only real gripe was the music. Many times, it was ill-fitting or came out of nowhere very loudly and interrupted an otherwise impactful moment. Other times, a scene could have done with silence to allow the audience and the characters to sit with their feelings.

Main romance between two MLs (Seo Jae Yoon & Ji Ho Joon). Also features a cameo appearance by the openly Gay singer Holland.

Regarding Jae Yoon, he says he's Gay himself and, before falling for Ho Joon, has long-time unrequited feelings for his close friend, SML Seung Seok.

Regarding Ho Joon, before meeting Jae Yoon he has a lot of casual relationships with women but nothing serious. In Ep 5 he says to his father, "Weirdly, I don't have any interest in women these days," and in Ep 6 a SFL friend of his says to him, "You had a lot of women, but you never truly loved someone." This was originally leading me to believe the most accurate label for him would be Bisexual Homoromantic (he is sexually attracted to men and women but only romantically attracted to men). However, after the confession scene in Ep 7 I believe he's Pansexual. He tells Jae Yoon "I don't care if you are a man. I like you a lot, Seo Jae Yoon." I think over the course of the drama he has come to the realization that gender does not play a factor for him. So, Pansexual.

  • Boys Be Brave!

    110. Boys Be Brave!

    Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes

    9.0

    #110

Main romance between two MLs, as well as features a Queer SFL, Kang Hye Jin (she at one point pursues Kim Jin Woo as well as, in Ep 5, admits to having feelings for her female friend, an ex of ML Jung Ki Sub; she is also later finally successful in pursuing her outright as she is seen dating her in the finale).

Regarding the rep: I swear, like everyone was Queer/Pan here! While the two main MLs, Jung Ki Sub and Kim Jin Woo, never outright define their sexuality, they dated/expressed attraction to both women and men as well as just seemed open to dating any gender, and the vibes were just *so Pan* So, you know what, I'm calling it and saying they're Pan! Fight me!

My thoughts on the drama itself: This was such a refreshing firework of a drama! The two leads, in particular, made it crazy fun to watch with their so-far-out-there-they-might-as-well-be-floating-in-space personalities that were only heightened when they shared the same air. And they were consistently predictable yet unpredictable, leaving me either correct in my predictions while also being pleasantly befuddled at the path taken or both puzzled beyond belief and amused. Meanwhile, the side couple offered something unique with the often overlooked issue of financial inequality in a relationship and the myriad of ways it can affect it, including self-inflicted shame, pressure, and guilt.

It was a true delight tuning into Boys Be Brave.  I highly recommend giving it a go! Especially if you're into "quirky" characters and dramas.

  • Love Mate

    Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    9.0

    #111

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here. Like at all.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This is what happens when you combine a tightly-written script that allows believable overthinking and anxiety as well as understandable conflicts and resolutions to be illustrated, crisp colors, and pleasant background music, with charming actors who can authentically portray both mortification and cuteness.

Really, the biggest criticism I have is the "villain." While anger-inducing, I found them underdeveloped.

This short little K-BL took over a corner in my heart while it was airing. I'm sad to see it end.

Brownie Points: Masterful casual touching and a refreshingly easy confession.

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.

Brownie Points: The OST is everything! Might be why my rating is so high . . . But we won't investigate that!

Consent Highlight: Does not kiss him while he is passed out and also far too drunk like you see in so many dramas.

Also, goes in for a kiss that appeared to be very much welcome/initiated by him and upon noticing that it isn't reciprocated (in that moment at least) does not continue, immediately apologizes, and leaves. Can we say reading the situation properly?

Yeon Woo says, "I don't care who it is." It's sort of a coin flip if this would be Bi or Pan. But I'm leaning toward Pan.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This! This is how you make a short K-BL that not only doesn't stick to clichés and tropes and has a plot that flows smoothly but is also hilarious, warm, and bubbly.

Trust that I will most definitely be revisiting this little drama in the future for some needed giggles and abrupt bursts of laughter.

    Also, the kiss? *applause*

Side Note: I just want to express my love for Village Head Ma for being such a wonderful and supportive best friend to Ye Chan. This man was a wisdom-filled golden lab retriever brought to life and I was SO there for it.

  • Love Class Season 2

    116. Love Class Season 2

    Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes

    9.0

    #116

Main romance between two MLs and two side romances between two MLs, respectively. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't much of an issue here.

My thoughts on the drama itself: Before this came out, I wondered why on earth they would make a second season when things were already wrapped up—mainly from the belief that the couple from season one would be returning and starring in this. Later, I found it a little confusing with three couples to keep up with, but not too shabby for a second season no one really asked for. Then, it ultimately grew on me, and I fell so far head over heels for two of the couples I faceplanted on the pavement and just lay there in agonizing pain refusing any help to get me on my feet.

Like, let me tell you, the chemistry? The surprising darkness that shifted the tone but somehow didn't throw me off-kilter? The fucking real-ass vulnerable moments and careful expressions? The sheer cheesiness and cuteness? Ahhhhh! It was SO good.

If you haven't guessed it already, I recommend this. Like, just for loyal, knows what he wants, and hilarious to a fault, Ma Roo, you have to check this out. Man is if the last two brain cells and a golden retriever were next to each other, got struck by lightning, and became a human, but in the best way possible.

  • Peach of Time

    117. Peach of Time

    Korean Drama - 2021, 10 episodes

    9.0

    #117

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.

Also, it's a K-Drama but heavily features the Thai language since one of the MLs is Thai.

My thoughts on the drama itself: Often very sad but emotionally compelling. It wasn't all sad, though; it was also very sweet and calm, with a bit of hopefulness sprinkled in.

The twists were good, and they knew when to give us a break from more hard-hitting moments and when they could bring it back in.

It was also interesting to see a Thai and Korean actor and couple on screen. It felt like a drama that was a bit in each culture but leaned more toward Korean. I hadn't seen the Korean ML in anything before, so I'm not sure if this is his first project or not. Either way, he did an amazing job!

You can bet I will be coming back to watch this again <3

  • Gray Shelter

    118. Gray Shelter

    Korean Drama - 2024, 5 episodes

    8.5

    #118

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: It's all empty space and frustratingly suffocating. Like wearing a wool turtleneck on a winter's day. You ache and long to tear the thing off, but it's just so bitterly cold.

The intro itself was a work of art. There and throughout the drama, I particularly appreciated the use of shadows and temperature. Not to mention, the actors did an amazing job. I found myself so weighed down by their emotions I felt like I was sinking.

I found the conclusion both unique and fitting. It ended with an understanding: We need to be on equal footing first, independent of each other, to sort through these muddled thoughts and feelings. Then, perhaps, we can . . .

  • Always Meet Again

    119. Always Meet Again

    Korean Drama - 2026, 8 episodes

    8.5

    #119

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: For a time-travel concept, it was really well done. Tragic, vibrant, and genuinely desperate to "fix it."

They give you only what you need to know as background, and then quickly take you back to the past to recall/learn as the main ML does.

And through eerie flashes forward, cuts, and moments of lost time, they keep you anxious. At the same time, they were able to capture a bright, nostalgic school scrapbook vibe that allowed for needed moments of levity and reflection.

It was the earnestness of the leads, though, that really won my heart. Both fighting to keep the other in their life but struggling amid words unspoken and closed-off/far-away expressions.

I appreciated that they left some small details ambiguous so as to make you want to rewatch it and try to see if you can connect the dots/come up with other theories.

It didn't reach the level of Love for Love's Sake, but, for me, I was still impressed with what they managed to accomplish.

  • Ball Boy Tactics

    120. Ball Boy Tactics

    Korean Drama - 2025, 8 episodes

    8.5

    #120

    Main romance between two MLs.

Regarding Jeong U, he is likely either Bi or Pan. He says as much by playfully saying, "I'm Gay. Or rather . . . Am I Bi? Anyway, I like men." He's dated girls before, but then discovers he also likes men after falling for Ji Won. If you ask my opinion, I would lean toward him being Bi since he doesn't specifically mention being attracted to all genders.

My thoughts on the drama itself: Not gonna lie, I think they kind of knocked it out of the park with this one. Not a home run, but still. And I did NOT see it coming at all!

I did find the actor playing Ji Won to be lacking compared to Jeong U, but Jeong U was a bit of a powerhouse in comparison and had a lot of material to work with thanks to his well-written dialogue, so perhaps it's not fair of me to judge too harshly. Can't say I didn't notice it on many occasions, though.

The chemistry and bold flirting between the MLs? Nothing short of insane! Jeong U kicked his sexuality crisis in the face and embraced his feelings for shy, anxious bean Ji Won head-on. And Ji Won could be kind of shameless without even realizing it, which I loved for him.

And the biggest conflict between the leads, while frustrating, made sense given past traumas/experiences and one lead's tendency to shut down instead of communicate. Even the SMLs who seemed insignificant in the beginning made a comeback later on and contributed to the narrative in a meaningful way.

Not to mention, the drama as a whole was downright clever, hilarious, and cute af. I had a great time watching it!

So, yes, I recommend it, kind of a lot. Especially compared to other lesser fare K-BLs we've gotten so far this year (excluding Secret Relationships, of course, because that was a masterpiece).

Side Note: I was gagged at their kissing scenes in the finale because DAMN did they deliver on a silver platter! Like, seriously, wow!

  • Love Class

    Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes

    8.5

    #121

    Main romance between two MLs.

Cha Ji Woo is probably Bi, though I could see an argument being made for him being Pan. I'm leaning toward Bi though. He likes Yu Na (FL) at first before he later falls for Lee Ro A (ML). He doesn't mention anything specifically about his sexuality though. It reminded me of how easily Kieta Hatsukoi did this too. He liked a girl at first and now likes a guy. Simple.

The romance itself was actually something that came very late in the drama but was still natural. It didn't feel like it popped out of nowhere.

I really liked how Cha Ji Woo quietly grew feelings for Lee Ro A. You notice these little looks he gives him and these moments where he stops to think.

I think this was great. It was delightfully simple. And sometimes that's all you need.

    Korean Drama - 2025, 8 episodes

    8.5

    #122

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This was a surprising triumph!

While on the surface as ridiculous as its description, My Secret Vampire had a lot more depth to offer than you would expect, with thoughtful characters who approached conversations with sincerity once they plucked up the courage.

Of course, there were some giggle-inducing lines about fattening up a certain someone so as to make them ideal to drink from . . . But that ended up only adding to this drama's odd charm.

I didn't think I'd end up saying I'd recommend it, but I do!

  • Happy Ending Romance

    123. Happy Ending Romance

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    8.5

    #123

Main romance between two MLs, with a not-really love triangle. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.

My thoughts on the drama itself: It's definitely a quality drama. The team behind it cared about what they were making, and you could tell. They had a specific style in mind, evident from the color palette. Jung Woo's world is listless, drained, and hollow. And so the world we see is made of muted colors, conversations go round and round, and the days seem to repeat.

I found the commentary on passiveness and possessiveness interesting, as well as the under-the-radar—at least to the character—manipulation (you could see how, over time, one would give in).

Something just felt missing. I can't put a name to it. And I wanted more of the love-triangle aspect. The trailers and teasers made it seem like it would play a significant role. Unfortunately, we were fooled.

Consent Highlight: Specifically during Ep 7. They're having a deep conversation and Tae Young, after stating his feelings again, asks Jung Woo:

    "I can move forward, right?"

Jung Woo smiles and then they both make direct and intentional eye contact before leaning in for a kiss.

    Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes

    8.0

    #124

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This drama and the characters truly shined the most in tension-filled moments where it felt as though all the air had been sucked out of the room. I also rather appreciated the consistency of the character's flaws/toxic behaviors, with there also being guilt and growth. Also, the fake-out conflict being resolved through thoughtful perspective and acceptance? Loved that. More not dragging things out for added drama and instead having a main lead think rationally, please!

Based on this drama's description, I expected less than average—to not be excited at the prospect of seeing the story progress. I was glad to find I could lose myself in Jazz for Two for a while.

All this praise aside, I wish the curtains closed more smoothly on this drama. At least ten extra minutes were desperately needed to tie up the side character's stories as well as allow a smoother transition as to where the main leads ended up. When the credits started rolling, I legit thought I was being punked. I was like, "Come on, there's got to be five more minutes left, right? Did I skip ahead?!"

All in all, I would recommend it. Just keep your expectations moderate.

My thoughts on the drama itself: There were many awkward moments, but they could also turn around and be quite charming in their own way.

Not as touching as say "Love Tractor" but a rather sweet and appreciative nod to "She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat."

Overall, I'd probably recommend it for a binge with a nice cup of tea.

  • Unintentional Love Story

    127. Unintentional Love Story

    Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes

    8.0

    #127

    Main romance between two MLs.

Regarding Tae Joon, the man is undeniably Bi! And confident about it! He doesn't actually say he's Bisexual, but it is very easy to tell. He even says, and I quote, "But just because it's a man, you don't think I'll feel the same?"

Regarding Won Young, he goes through a Bi-awakening (could also be Pan or Queer though, though I don't think that's the case) courtesy of Tae Joon. What was refreshing was how confident he was about showing affection in public once he accepted himself and his feelings.

My thoughts on the drama itself: Not gonna lie, the first episode was kind of difficult to get through. The introduction of the premise and future conflict was so stereotypical that nearly every line could be predicted. But, it did grow on me, surprisingly. In particular, I liked the way they explored Won Young's realization of his sexuality. It was quite well-executed. And I also enjoyed the tension between the two MLs. Finally, I will say that I found the typical "turn" in the story to actually be fairly convincing and fitting for the characters rather than just a way to extend the length of the drama.

So, in short, this was sometimes charming, but nothing fantastic or note-worthy. Not necessarily a skip, but nothing to lose sleep or drop responsibilities for.

Oh, right! The side couple! Yeah, sorry, I forgot about them just like the drama.

I could tell what they were going for: a mellow yet light-hearted, youthful romance. In many ways, I would say they succeeded. They built up everyone's connections well, rounded characters out with dreams for the future, and embraced the awkwardness and nervousness that comes with being young and having to figure things/yourself out.

I loved Hee Su's loving yet tumultuous relationship with his family. Him being an advisor to others yet clueless about how to help himself out.

The problem was that while Hee Su was the main character and narrator, his romance played a backseat to his best friend's relationship, his family life, and the overall theme of love and friendship being akin to galaxies, stars, and planets.

Maybe, if they had more time, say two episodes, they could have spread things out more evenly. Or, better yet, they could have kept the focus where it should have been in the first place: on Hee Su.

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: I wanted this to be a—forgive me—"cousin" to Secret Relationships/Gray Shelter. And, in many ways,  it was. There was an obvious power imbalance between the MLs on the surface, yet their dynamic shifted unpredictably.

It made you uncomfortable and let you sit in that uncomfortableness.

I can't say I loved it, nor can I say I hated it.

But for a drama that had such an intriguing start with a love story that was oftentimes relentless and lived in the gray, it felt disappointing to reach the finish line only to be met with such a generic conclusion as the reward.

This could have been something different.

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This was a pretty decent lovers-reunited drama. The beginning made me feel like it had a lot of potential, and as predictable as many of the "reveals" could be, I thought they were understandable for the most part and fit the narrative well. Some conversations between the leads, while painful, were downright beautifully written. And the cinematography and chemistry were certainly not lacking.

However, while I admired the maturity and realism present in the MLs talk during their final reconciliation, the ending itself felt very hastily put together. If they had at least one more episode, maybe they could have made the change of heart more believable and not like something the creators made the character decide because they had to tie everything up in a perfect bow.

    I'm happy yet slightly disappointed.

My thoughts on the drama itself: The story itself was nothing much: One silly and cheerful lead, through convenient circumstances, weasels their way into the other lead's rather dreary existence, and, somewhere along the way, they fall in love. What stood out at points was the crazy chemistry, nice cinematography, and overall feel-good moments.

But, again, this had the same issue as Individual Circumstances: Unfulfilling and/or unconvincing kisses.

Like, I'm not asking for a full-on makeout. It can even be an awkward kiss as long as you intentionally frame it that way. But don't give me good build-up, palpable tension, intense eye contact, and great body language only to not deliver. That just stings.

It was light and silly, with charming, personable MLs with a height difference insane enough to give you heart palpitations. And I was glad they didn't beat around the bush with conflicts or drag them out.

Complaints: The side couple's romance didn't feel like it was expanded on as much as it could have been, especially given how connected they were to the main MLs and their story. Also, I would have liked to have seen more of the "repairing" phase of the leads' relationship.

Regarding Seon Ho, I loved how they showed his Bi-Awakening (I won't spoil it). It felt light and fun while also being very relatable. Also, *gasp* they said the word! Multiple times!

Regarding Mu Yeong, he is shown to have been attracted to men since he was younger and remained strong while dealing with bullying and Homophobia in school.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This was something easy and silly. Not as enjoyable or intriguing as, say, Roommates of Poongduck 304, but something fun to pass the time. I did find the "misunderstanding" more annoying than others, though. It was too easily solved!

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This started so well, with our new couple quickly becoming a couple but then slowly, consciously moving forward in their relationship. They were tender and understanding of each other, turning toward comfort and forgiveness over letting misunderstandings and jealousy fester. I truly believed they deeply cared for each other.

    Then, the "big conflict" hit.

The last couple of episodes just felt so rushed and incomplete in comparison to the rest of the drama. It was as if the creators couldn't come up with an easier/better way to wrap it all up, so they went for the most cliché option that would promise both drama and a quick, happy resolution.

What were supposed to be touching, romantic moments between Woohyun and Doha in the finale ultimately felt insincere (not due to the actors' performances at all—they did great—but the writing).

I WANT to say I recommend it, especially as we've had so few K-BLs in 2025, and I want some quality ones, but I'm so disappointed by its conclusion that I don't know if I can.

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: It was a bit awkward in terms of pacing/line delivery from the side characters, but when they focused on just the two leads bouncing off of each other, it was quite natural. I could buy that they were not only incredibly close friends, but so close they were edging toward the line.

And for a co-production between Thailand and Korea, it wasn't half bad. Compared to past offerings, it was leagues above them. Sure, Jay's entire circle of friends/acquaintances conveniently understood Thai perfectly while he understood Korean, so they almost never spoke the other's language, and thus, conversations were never a hassle for him. But it was honestly SO easy for him to communicate with everyone that it felt like the drama was aware of how ridiculous it was and was playing on it.

As for the "murder mystery," it was pretty ridiculous. But this drama was never meant to be some cinematic masterpiece or truly balance surprising darkness in an otherwise light story like either season of Love Class. No, it was created to be something silly and entertaining. And, you know what? I'm okay with that. Overall, I had a decent time.

I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it. But I won't yell, "You're making a mistake!" if you decide to spend your time watching this instead of something else.

In the beginning, it was mysterious and slightly disturbing, while still being a chaotically silly fantasy/romance. But as the story progressed and danger lessened, it quickly took on the feeling of an average, rushed comedic K-BL. It lost the edge it had, and not only did the side couple get a glossy, barely put-together conclusion, but the main couple wasn't spared from getting the same hack-job treatment.

This was kind of all over the place. There were some moments of good acting and good chemistry, but overall, if I had to describe this to someone, I would say it felt like a conversation that got beat around the bush continuously. And for the life of me, I cannot comprehend the reason for the time skip! Like, why?

Really, I would say this is a skip. I honestly stuck it out because I wanted to support OMEGA X  (the MLs are from that K-Pop group) after finding out they had to go through what they did at their company.

    Side Note:

My thoughts on the drama itself: Is my rating honest? No. In reality, it's more like a generous 7. But I love my LGBT+ supporting kings OnlyOneOf, and I would just cry if I rated a drama they starred in any lower than an 8, okay?! So forgive me for fudging the numbers! I am a person with feelings!

All this being said, just because I won't rate it honestly doesn't mean I won't review it honestly.

It makes sense that the acting here wouldn't be stellar; they were all new to this. Credit where credit is due, though, Nine and Mill managed to pull off some pretty decent chemistry with their characters despite not being given a lot to work with. However, the editing, story beats, and pacing desperately needed work, and there is no excuse for that. Many times, when scenes continued, they would abruptly cut to new locations or would skip forward a few hours, giving the watcher this uncomfortable feeling of being rushed. Also, more screen time should have been devoted to showing more of the leads spending quality time together rather than talking about or cutting to very brief clips of it. As they say with books, "Show, don't tell." Finally, did we need the scheming ex? No, we did not.

All in all, could have been a lot better.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This drama was false advertising, plain and simple!

It sold itself as a love square when it was anything but. Really, only two love interests got enough screentime to be considered love interests. And one of those two was selfish, possessive, and had a tendency to act out violently. So, needless to say, getting invested and torn about who the main ML would end up with was not happening.

Did I appreciate that they tried to show parts of the story from every love interest's POV, and did I have fun for a little bit theorizing about who he'd end up with? Sure.

But was I annoyed to death watching the finale, feeling like I got played? You're damn right!

In conclusion . . . Watch Secret Relationships! I want to rewatch it now so I can see some quality and a superior love square!

    Main romance between two MLs.

The short version:  "Why was this?" I don't recommend this. Save yourself the time and find something else to watch, or go binge the Fighter and Tutor cut on YouTube. We both know you watched it last week anyway. I see you.

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: For as interesting a twist and ultimate dynamic as they had, unfortunately, they did not set it up well.

Darn! This could have been really different if only the execution hadn't fallen short!

  • Happy Merry Ending

    168. Happy Merry Ending

    Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    6.0

    #168

Main romance between two MLs. Coming out or confusion about sexuality also isn't an issue here.

My thoughts on the drama itself: This was just a mess, plain and simple.

First off, this should have been a movie. The pacing would still be absolutely ridiculous, but at least not as noticeable as in drama format. Not to mention, the characters' conflicts and feelings come and go whenever necessary but not in any flowing or sensical way.

Really, only these positives come to mind: The leads' pretty faces, nice singing voices, and good kissing scenes. Nothing else.

Near the end, I felt so detached I would liken it to the experience of an AI robot trying to understand human emotions.

I honestly wonder if they made this just for the OST; otherwise, I can't see a point in its existence.

This is definitely a skip, my friends. I finished it only because I felt obligated to.

  • Color Rush Season 2

    169. Color Rush Season 2

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    6.0

    #169

Main beginning romance between two MLs.

Yeon Woo was either Bi or Pan in the original Color Rush (I leaned toward Pan) so I suppose that carries over here, though it should be noted isn't addressed or touched on at all in this second season.

I don't feel it's worth the watch. Not only is the original obviously so much better but it says and shows more regarding the main ML's sexuality.

  • Sangmin Dinneaw

    170. Sangmin Dinneaw

    Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes

    5.5

    #170

    Main romance between two MLs.

It's technically listed as a Thai drama, but like Peach of Time and Love Is Like A Cat, it is a collaboration project with Thailand and Korea.

My thoughts on the drama itself: I have to admit, I got my hopes up a bit in the beginning with this one. At the very least, it seemed much more promising than other Thai/Korean crossovers. No magic translating earbuds or conveniences in sight! Sangmin understood a fair amount of Thai, and Dinneaw understood a tiny bit of Korean. It worked!

But, God, did this oh-so-quickly give me major tonal whiplash. One moment it was super sweet, and the next, it was uncharacteristically crass and, to put it plainly, SO horny.

To paint a picture for you: one moment, two side characters are finally addressing their feelings; the next, they're in nothing but their underwear, and the camera is too comfy.

Also, tell me why so much time is spent on side characters we barely know at all, uncomfortably smashing over and over again. Why? What happened to the plot or the leads? Does anyone care?!

    *sigh*

Why did I put myself through this?

Just skip it and save yourself. Even if you're looking for a "spicy watch," trust me, this is not what you're looking for, darling.

  • Love Is Like a Cat

    171. Love Is Like a Cat

    Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes

    5.0

    #171

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: It gave . . . Nothing. I couldn't get invested or find it within me to care about the story or any of the characters in the slightest.

This could have been basic but sweet and warm, at the very least, like Tasty Florida or Ocean Like Me. But no, they couldn't even do that.

Side Note: Those magic translating earbuds were SO convenient they drove me insane. Never was the language barrier a problem at all!

Just skip it. Don't bother. I wasted my time FOR you.

    172. Tide of Love

    Korean Drama - 2025, 10 episodes

    4.5

    #172

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: I just . . . Can't with this. Short as the runtime was, each new episode had me impatiently waiting for it to be over already. There was essentially nothing redeeming to be found here! From the sound design and sets to the camerawork, directing, and script, everything was lacking/clunky.

And I felt bad that the actors were comfortable with each other and clearly trying only for it to turn out like this.

It was SO bad that I felt bad it was bad!

My thoughts on the drama itself: Well, this was a gem! There was some real acting here! The clear distinction between the characters they were playing vs. their authentic personalities was SO well done. Not to mention, the chemistry was just fire!

My thoughts on the drama itself: Damn. That actually made me really emotional. How sad but also beautiful that it was the end of the world that brought them together.

    Main romance between two MLs.

My thoughts on the drama itself: Simply put, this was a solid, non-filler drama with pretty damn good acting and some fun misunderstandings and conflicts that were dealt with by adults in an actual adult way: A.K.A. with a conversation.

    Also, the chemistry? Fire!

My thoughts on the drama itself: It's not . . . Bad. Really, it's not.

The chemistry is there, and they had an interesting idea. It's just that they placed too much weight on the scale of the romance when there wasn't enough background or experiences to back it up.

Not much to say about this one. It was cute and very GL Web Series reminiscent.

Note: It's co-produced with South Korea, and one of the MLs does speak Korean, so I do believe this counts enough to make it onto this list.
