Changed my mind. I loved/love this drama too much to rate it anything less than a 10. The acting is fantastic, and the comedy almost always lands. I also can't remember just how many times I've rewatched it I've seen it so many times.

This was an epic cinematic blast of a drama. I'm going to recommend this to everyone I know, whether they watch Asian dramas or not! If they like action, I'm forcing their ass down on the couch next to me and prying their eyelids open with my fingers. So what if it has subtitles? You will fucking love it!

I loved how realistic they took this. They didn't make her unbelievably badass, completely cold, or even fully determined right away. She quickly wants to get revenge but doesn't process exactly what that means. And she's also scared. But bit by bit, in just the first episode, she builds some courage.

In particular, I found the training and fight scenes well done as Yoon Ji Woo is shown to have weaknesses in that she is not as large or muscular as the other men, but she has grit, a bit of talent, and she's not afraid to hurt others and understands what it will cost her.

This was one of the best strong female leads I've seen.

I highly highly recommend watching this if you haven't already.

I sat quietly with this drama. And then I sat some more. And even when days had passed since I last saw it, I sat with it, and it with me. I held something different in my chest when I walked. Before I went to speak, I paused.

How to describe this? It's like . . . It's like . . .

It's like watching the dull, mundane every days pass you by. Except, they don't pass you by. They linger.

I can't say it liberated me. I think it left a small piece of something behind that I picked up and put in my pocket to carry with me.

I recommend you watch it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But someday. When you do, take your time.

Never have I felt so awed and intimidated by a drama that I was struck with the intense desire to impress it—or, at least, satisfy it—by giving it my full and undivided attention.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: This looks you dead in the eyes, grabs you by the collar, and says, "Fucking pay attention and try to keep up—if you can—because no way in Hell am I holding your hand!"

In every way, I found this to be on par with the first season, and my thoughts are really the same.

Stranger is a series that does not demand respect; it already has your respect. What it demands is your attention.

I couldn't guess what might come around the next corner or what small piece of information might be key. All I could do was be patient and follow Si Mok and Yeo Jin as they worked to uncover the truth and rise above the urgings of superiors to "let it go" or opportunities to take the easy path.

One may fairly criticize using connections to more easily achieve an outcome that is beneficial for you. Yet when it would only take one quick phone call, how many would turn it down? Corruption and collusion are not always easily recognized or avoided. "What, you wouldn't help a friend out? I did you a favor before, remember?"

I would ask for a third season, but only on the condition that it maintains the high standard the first two have set. If not, I don't want it.

I hold Stranger in the utmost reverence.

Side Note: Speaking of Si Mok and Yeo Jin, can we talk about their mutual respect and unspoken understanding of each other? I loved how, even when they were put in the position of being on opposing sides, they still worked together. And the small moments that illustrated their close bond, such as Yeo Jin ordering extra cabbage since she knows Si Mok likes it and Si Mok asking about/listening to her future plans (to many, this would be polite, but for Si Mok, as this is an effort for him, it reveals his care for someone).

A rare example of when the hype doesn't convey just how great the drama truly is.

The stop-motion, animation, color, and lighting is superb. It's amazing to look at and also quite haunting. What a different drama. This is something spectacular.

Very much reminds me of Coraline.

It's difficult to put into words how much I adored this. It was healing, saddening, horrifying, beautiful, and also INCREDIBLY funny.

During the span of every episode they managed to tug at my heartstrings, shock me, make me giggle/burst out laughing, start to cry, and also smile.

The side characters, if you can even call them that because they were so unique, were perfectly balanced with the main characters. Each of them developed over time and had the right amount of screen time to let their personalities shine through.

There was not one character I wasn't interested in/ didn't find enjoyment in seeing on the screen. And the way they tied in the fairy tales was just brilliant! And there were so many great callbacks and amazing uses of their younger selves in shots.

In other words, I loved it.

The first episode was nice. The lighting was good and Taekyung's subtle expressions are fascinating. The romance itself will be rather predictable I imagine, but not in any truly negative way. I really like this loner character they are going for and I think that will be the main appeal for me.

Update after completion:

This drama is so complex. The characters aren't one dimensional but have a lot of layers to them. The love triangle is also legitimate and leaves you feeling torn.

While the romance seemed predictable, the way it was shown and felt by the characters was anything but. The friendship aspect was also very well-done.

I cannot stress enough how real the characters are and how much effort was put into incorporating small but important details into this drama. I would go on to describe just how much background and thought was put into Da On and Shin Woo alone but that would unfortunately lead to me spoiling a lot. This is a drama you do not want to be spoiled!

Expectations, peer pressure, anxiety, and trust issues are just some of the things showcased well here.

It's not all serious though, there are a lot of delightfully awkward moments, etc, to make you laugh.

One of the best dramas I have seen this year.

And, so, I have reached the final chapter of Romance is a Bonus Book. Like a good book—no, a great book—it moved me as it brought me along its thought-out journey. I picked this up quite a while ago. And, after perusing through it, though I was intrigued, I placed it back on the shelf. I wasn't sure I could spare the time. I'm so glad I dusted it off and picked it up again to finally finish it.

There are many things to adore about this drama. The transition shots in some episodes can range from good to absolutely dazzling, the acting is on-point, there are many unexpected twists, the characters are likable and unique (the side characters get the right amount of screen time and development), it showcases the unfairness of age discrimination/ageism, and it knows when to throw in comedy and sweet moments to help you get through the more upsetting/sad parts of the story. 

The best part about this drama though is that it is in many ways a love letter to books. From showing how much effort goes into making a book as well as selling it to treating books as precious and items that should be respected. As a lover of books myself, I felt this drama speaking directly to my worn-pages-adoring heart many times.

Dear Romance is a Bonus Book, for making me laugh, for making me smile, charming me, hurting me, healing me, and bringing me to tears many times, "The moon is beautiful."

It's Classic K-Drama, including all the bells and whistles with bickering leads, clichés, and cheesy moments, but better.

For anyone who grew up with a dysfunctional family who either intentionally or unintentionally fed into/allowed issues to fester, leading you to be the overworked glue, the underpraised perfectionist, or the babied without expectations, this is a hard-hitting but cathartic watch. Here, you're finally seen. Cry and scream because you're allowed to; it was unfair. You shouldn't have felt the need to keep everything to yourself. You didn't imagine it; it still hurts now, but you can learn to value yourself more and let people in.

And all the while, you get to watch as these imperfect but caring darlings explore their passions and find love.

With honesty and kindness, this drama boldly works to destigmatize mental health. It doesn't just show you patients' scars and outbursts; it invites you to sit, listen, and get to know them. What brought them here. What they're scared of. What they hope for. These patients are just like you and me.

Healthy people can still have mental breaks. You can be functioning but be unwell. You can get better only to relapse. Treatments fail, and sometimes, in the end, there's nothing you can do. It's the nature of medicine and humans as the complex people we are.

I loved the FL's positive outlook on life and found the way they explained and portrayed mental illness quite illuminating. Not to mention treating the patients as people who can and should be able to set boundaries (something so many other dramas don't advocate for).

If you're in the right place and can walk through the dim morning for a little while, I think you'll find this bit of sunshine warm.

Simply put, it stayed focused and, somehow, consistent, even with the future changing the past and the past changing the future. And the finale? It had to be one of the cleverest and riskiest stunts I've seen any leads work together to pull off. A true leap of faith. "I believe in you."

I want to go into detail about just how tight the writing was, the complexity they brought to the more morally grey characters, and the earnestness of these two in helping each other, but I don't want to spoil a damn thing for you. It's best to go in blind.

There were problems, and while my head says it's a 9.5/10 my heart says that isn't so.

The period of time they spent together was so short when you add up the days, or even the hours. But, each small moment was infinitely precious.

My Grandmother met my Grandfather and married him quite quickly after meeting him. It didn't take long to realize it was love, and instead of waiting they jumped into it together against others' advice. If I remember correctly, it was only a week. They had more time than Hee Tae and Myung Hee ever wished for after they married, before one of them left the other behind to live on without them. And then, they too followed after many years later. They weren't perfectly happy together and I'm certain their love wavered at many points. But, I'm certain it was real and true in the beginning though it felt as if it faded at times.

Would it have been better if my Grandparents had never met and one had not had to suffer the others' absence? Or, was the time where they were both so in love in the beginning and together worth it all?

We don't have a choice when it comes to love. We can't choose when it happens, who the person is, if the timing is right, when they will leave us, or to stop loving them.

Love is powerful, wonderful, and healing but also can cause the most pain out of anything else in this world.

As a writer and as a human there is also nothing more I could long for.

"Why do you write?" The same question presented to Han Se Joo.

 I will answer: So, someday when I am gone, they will read about me. Those I love will learn about me, what I thought. They will remember me, not just as who they knew but also as who they didn't know.

I walk away from this drama thinking about the the characters' stories that were revealed to me as well as how I will write my own.

Sadistic and artistic. Very much my cup of tea.

All of the characters are highly intelligent, frightfully clever, and insanely suspicious. Not to mention our main leads exist in this morally grey area for a majority of the runtime.

There is something so insanely cool and entertaining when they team up, even if it's for a brief moment. Such a fun buddy-cop duo.

The purposeful jabs and joking flirting were entertaining but I also very much enjoyed the (even though they won't admit it) trust they had for one another as well as how their deep bond was shown through gestures, very emotional dialogue, and intentional physical touch.

Also, getting back to the supporting characters, they were very well-executed and there was a detailed personality and background for each of them.

Not to mention the soundtrack? It's upbeat but also dark which sets this uncomfortable tone when the music kicks in.

I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the acting. They make you never want to look away from your screen for anything, just to see their complicated facial expressions.

Overall, an absolutely amazing drama!

Boy, was this a trip! It had style, dead-pan humor, was totally unpredictable, and, above all, had moxie!

I am not going to go into detail or spoil anything for you. It's so good that you should just go watch the damn drama yourself!

I want a second season! A third season! Damn it all, I want five seasons!

The power was very cool and the ML was goofy yet charming, emotional, and sincere. He and the FL really grew over the course of the drama. He became more serious and she was able to open up and express herself. Together, they were finally able to lean on someone and let their pain go if only for a little. I cannot express enough how much I loved their relationship. Not just for their amazing and sweet chemistry but for their support of each other overall when they came into each others lives. Truly, a gem of a couple.

I cried much more than I thought I would watching this and more often than not was surprised by the twists I didn't see coming. 

I started it thinking it would be more of a drama to watch casually for an interesting time and a few laughs. But, I became attached to this small cast of characters. I grew to care and worry about them each passing week.

As I end this, these thoughts come into my mind:

"We use every possible means to heal our scars from the past. But the scar remains and becomes an unforgettable memory. It requires too much time to fade away. This passing moment, I wonder... What kind of memory this will be to me?"

About dancing, growing old, etc, and is sentimental and highly emotional.

It showed a subtle contrast between youth and elderly, passion/lack of passion for dancing, as well as how some people live their lives for others instead of for themselves. I had a feeling this would tug at my heartstrings. It did more than tug. I especially liked how they showed the negative influence family members can be, particularly at quashing ones dreams. As well as how family can come together and be there for you when you most need them, and those who strongly opposed you can become your greatest supporters. 

Side note: Also, don't blame children for the sins of their parents. It's NOT their fault! They are NOT responsible for their family's horrible actions!

I lose my mind whenever I rewatch this! It makes you laugh so hard that you cry.

If you haven't seen it yet. Do. It's for free on YouTube as a marathon and all the episodes total to a little over an hour and a half.

Literally one of the funniest things I have ever seen! Period. These men are so stupid and awkward. I love them..

Watching this all at once makes me believe releasing it in one day was the right decision. It flows and feels like a movie, not a drama. I don't think you'll like it or appreciate it as much if you just see an episode or two a week.

This. This is top-tier. If Romance is a Bonus Book is a love letter to books, Blueming is a love letter to films.

It manages to capture "a feeling" in every scene, and the cinematography is everything. Semantic Error went for a style similar to its original work, with bright colors and loud music and graphics. This was toned-down, with warm colors, unassuming music, and subtle cuts.

Both are great, just in different ways.

I loved how, at its core, this was about opening up to someone. Finding a person you can share your insecurities with who won't look at you differently because of it, someone you can comfortably be vulnerable with.

Sexuality wasn't even a topic or issue because it was of no importance to the story being told. It wasn't the point. Seeing people onscreen actually declare their sexuality is great for representation. Having it be a non-issue is also great. We can tell stories with LGBT+ people without necessarily making it about them being LGBT+. Straight romances and stories aren't generally about them being Straight; it's about the story.

When I reached the end of this film, I realized it had never come up. And my reaction was simply, "Oh."

The Eighth Sense was a masterful lesson in care and vulnerability that pulled no punches and went all out, not just in terms of outstanding cinematography and immersive storytelling but also diving into the mindset created by depression, trauma, and anxiety as well as the behaviors that result from tackling them alone and with support.

The character of Jae Won embodied depression and trauma recovery so well:

Looking out at the world and your own choices from a fishbowl view. What you want to say and do and what you don't become blurred like water. And even being able to see it clearly doesn't mean you can reach out; grasp it. You're sitting outside yourself, numb to the world and unable to express what you truly want to because everything is just so heavy, and how could you drag someone else into that and weigh them down with you?

And then there's someone like Ji Hyun, not a savior or an angel but a person unexpectedly possessing gorgeous boldness and frankness, who understands and even when he doesn't is there to push when the net is wound too tight and listen when it's suffocating but Jae Won needs to undo it alone.

More than a romance. More than a Queer drama. Cinema at its finest.

I want to rate it an 11. But since that isn't possible on MDL, I'm going to give it a 10.

Will this make you cry? Undoubtedly, yes.

But this is such a masterpiece. I would even argue it surpasses the first To My Star. The use of flashbacks with the present, the small details that speak volumes, the carefully-threaded narrative, and the use of light and shadow were overwhelmingly well done.

I put my very very fragile heart in Hwang Da Seul's hands expecting the possibility of it being crushed. In return, she cocooned me in growth, patience, maturity, and honesty.

I don't feel like I can truly express the journey this drama took me on. This is all I can seem to say at the moment.

Audacious, harsh, cheeky, and unapologetically Queer, this drama, through the eyes of our imperfect ML, explores the vastness of love and loneliness. Cloaked in one-liners and self-deprecating humor, Go Young thrives in the nightlife, seeking affection but fearing love and letting anyone fully know him.

I drowned in the emptiness of his tired but still wide smile and rejoiced when he allowed himself to breathe and dared for more.

There have been few dramas I would label as "Queer Cinema." This one, however, easily fits.

From this drama's intro, the tone was set. This wasn't going to be some simple romance with a love square.

It was an intricately tangled, suffocating spider's web with Da On at the center of it all, fighting to free himself, all the while twisting into it more and more.

His all-consuming fear, confusion, indecision, heartbreak, anger, strength, and hope were portrayed as such visceral and vivid emotions I felt I was right there frozen, shaking, crying, screaming, and smiling with him.

With nothing more than the look in their eyes, I understood every character's motivation.

The attention to detail in this was striking.

And it dared to be more.

It unapologetically dove into physical and emotional abuse, manipulation, trauma, codependency, and self-blame. It framed the toxicity and harm our main ML experienced/was experiencing as horrifying as it is in reality. While others in the drama pointed accusing fingers at Da On, Secret Relationships didn't.

We heard his story from his perspective and got to see him slowly find it within himself to save and value himself and go after his own happiness.

It is a thoroughly engaging but not generally pleasant watch. If you are in a good place, I more than recommend it.

It took me a while to finally complete this drama. I needed to find the "right time" and "right space" to go back and rewatch it before giving the last two episodes my full attention.

Like all of Hwang Da Seul's works, it was full of sweetness and pain. Small, intimate moments and little details that escape you.

I found the editing choices and time jumps to be an experiment I didn't quite grasp at first. They're both misleading and careful and careful in misleading you as a viewer. With context, the entire picture finally comes into focus, and you almost beat yourself up for not seeing it before.

It took time for me to understand Do Hoe's distance from Ju Yeong in the present. Ju Yeong's crestfallen face at his harsh words was agonizing to witness. Back then, when he Do Hoe was in darkness, Ju Yeong's radiant smile had brought light.

But different people deal with trauma/hurt differently. Ju Yeong chose to look back and linger on the bright spots. Do Hoe couldn't. Instead, he blocked it all out and chose to remove and replace/refrain from anything that reminded him of what he went through. But that wasn't him moving on. He hadn't moved on at all. Only when Ju Yeong came back into his life and took him back to that place he hated so much could he finally confront it and start afresh. For real, this time.

The curse has been broken.

Part documentary, part drama, and part character study: I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you're looking for a fun crime drama, look somewhere else. This is not to be watched for fun. This is to be analyzed and taken seriously.

This is a drama I do not know where to begin or how to review.

It's bloody and brutal. Almost hopeless. A pitch-black hallway with a patch of light flashing and dying at the end, barely visible enough as to question it real.

It's walking alone amidst a crowd, ears ringing, imagining, or, perhaps hearing, a voice behind you calling your name.

There, but not. There, but for what?

Yet again . . . Weak Hero Class leaves me without words.

But I have to say: Si Eun's smile is like the sun.

They left things open enough that we could get a third season. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it.

Love this! I do struggle with the rating however. I feel like I should rate it 10/10 stars, as it was wonderful to watch and I can't think of a single thing wrong with it or anything that I would add to it. However, I don't Know if that should be it's actual rating. All I know is that I wouldn't put this lower than a 9/10.

I highly recommend it. Also, if you enjoy this you will enjoy Wish You: Your Melody From My Heart. Both are short, sweet, and simple.

More than thorough enjoyment, I appreciated the unique world and full-rounded story they brought to fruition here. The game aspect made for highly creative and fun as well as stressful "mechanics," the use of harsh sound effects and "errors" in particular lended well to this.

Love for Love's Sake managed to toe the line between light action/almost horror and comedic school romance in a way I don't think I've seen before. And the banter between the two MLs allowed some levity in times when the world went dark.

Particularly, I want to highlight how they fully utilized the potential of Cha Yeo Woon's character, managing to hint at his desire as well as fear to be vulnerable and his shyness in expressing his interest in someone (Tae Myung Ha), all within a few episodes. And his actor plays his sulking moments and hesitancy very well.

Also, I would be remiss not to mention Tae Myung Ha's character; the quiet depth he had in a story that wasn't supposed to be his. And the complex expressions he had astounded me. Especially in moments he had to put on a happy face as well as convey that he was barely keeping it together.

I am so glad I didn't miss this surprising masterpiece.

They manage to consistently stay SO fresh! My hat goes off to the creators because I don't know how they managed to come up with as many ideas as they did. They truly created a wonderfully wacky, comedic masterpiece.

How do I convince you to watch this?

It has style, it's snarky, it's snappy, there's a Lesbian/Bi/Pan SFL, the soundtrack is bomb, the lighting is pleasing, the colors jump off the screen, the limited time was made the most of and the drama never suffers because of it, there's adorable consent, and for crying out loud, there's amazing chemistry!!!

I absolutely adored this well-shot and charming modern office romance and how it featured such a normal and mature relationship between two working adults. They can't help but bring up their work when they're together because they're passionate about what they do. Their emotions can get the best of them but they quickly come together to discuss what's wrong as they know avoiding isn't the answer. They don't beat around the bush and are honest about what they want.

If you're looking for a short romance drama with a healthy relationship, sweet flirting, good communication, and little to no misunderstandings, then this is the drama for you.

I unexpectedly adored this. I loved how they both clearly like each other and rather than seeing one pine and the other eventually fall we as the audience are let in on their mutual feelings early on and are treated to the story of a man overcoming his cowardice as the object of his affections patiently waits as well as gently pushes him forward.

Also, I would be remiss to not acknowledge the amazing acting, fantastic buildup, and face-punching, pillow-suffocating cuteness they brought to the table.

A refreshingly cool wind that blew a young, heart-fluttering love my way.

This far exceeded my expectations. I expected mediocre and was greeted with the memorable innocence of a first love, sincerity in words, actions, and music, conflicts that hit and weren't dragged out, and a beautiful dream small enough to carry in your pocket yet expansive enough as to fly out into the world.

This felt like a secret so gorgeous I wanted to keep it to myself. But I believe it deserves to be seen by many.

For a not-very-anticipated drama with a confusing synopsis, this managed to pull out all the stops. This. This is what A Shoulder to Cry On WANTED to be. It had tension, kept its focus, kept the conflict simple and unfolded the details of it bit by bit, and pulled the main leads and their complicated feelings together at every turn. And, best of all, their yearning was evident and put into action.

I recommend you go binge it right now!

Criticism: My only real gripe was the music. Many times, it was ill-fitting or came out of nowhere very loudly and interrupted an otherwise impactful moment. Other times, a scene could have done with silence to allow the audience and the characters to sit with their feelings.

Another case of simple is best. Korean BLs are tragically short right now. But that doesn't mean they can't fully utilize every minute they have and make something great, even on a low budget.

This pulls you in from the start. It has natural acting, smooth transitions, good camerawork, and a moving story. The emotional build-up in particular is spectacular.

From the beginning, we know in our hearts how this story will end. The point of watching it unfold is to see the light that came before the dark.

The ending will either make or break the experience of watching this drama for a lot of people. For me, I found it fitting. It was real and sad, yes. But it was also hopeful. Jae Woo can't save Ji Hoon. But in another timeline, another Jae Woo is going back to the same room to call Ji Hoon and will travel through time to meet him. In a way, they will always be together in this world.

There are flaws. But, this was one of the first K-dramas I ever watched. So, it holds a special place in my heart.

Plus, the chemistry is great, and the leads have very distinct personalities.

I'm surprised by just how good this drama was. I thought it would be on the same level of ridiculousness as True Beauty but it's actually very real, sensible, mature, and genuine.

The ML is not like the typical cold and jerkish MLs who only later become "good" guys who are really still jackasses who don't apologize for their mistakes. He is nice to who he wants to be nice to and isn't to others. Simple. The rest of his "coldness" is just his sarcastic and dry humor he naturally has. He also doesn't fall for the traps set by the opposing FL like so many other MLs do. Not once. In fact, he catches the lies very easily and isn't fooled by crying or anything. That was so refreshing to see!

The misunderstandings between him and the FL are very few and are resolved quickly. He doesn't generally assume she had bad intentions or believe what others tell him about her outright. Sometimes I got a bit annoyed with the FL but I understood why she still struggled with confidence issues and standing up for herself. And though she grew slowly I was proud of her journey.

The message is also incredibly well executed. We can diet to lose weight and get plastic surgery to "fix" our face but that won't necessarily make us confident or make everyone leave us alone/treat us as normal. In fact, it can bring more attention to us than before and cause new issues we never considered.

And there is nothing wrong with wanting to be skinnier or getting plastic surgery, just like there is nothing wrong with Not wanting to lose weight or Not getting plastic surgery. But understand that it won't make life perfect. It won't "fix" you. Your mindset is the biggest problem. And while you may be struggling with just being okay with yourself it isn't okay to push your insecurities onto others by rating their faces or judging them based on their looks.

This was extraordinary. The play on typical school K-Dramas with overly cold MLs, weak FLs, and typical clichés was great. Not just that though, this was a drama that kept me on my toes as it peeled back layer after layer after layer. I found each one fascinating.

This was warm and safe, as well as heartbreaking. A tragedy, and a light comedy.

The FL and ML snuggled themselves deep into my heart. Ha Ru was such a quiet and gentle soul and Dan Oh was so sweet and lively <3 Together, their chemistry was wonderful. I found their relationship absolutely precious. This was a love that I wanted to protect at all costs!

For changing my day and making my heart flutter: Thank you, Day.

Anything to do with coffee or tea grabs my attention. Plus, I heard it was just very soothing. Indeed, it was :)

The ML was absolutely wonderful. He's just so precious, well-intentioned, considerate, and respectful.

This drama was incredibly calming, just like a steaming cup of tasty coffee. If my mood was bad I could watch just one episode and feel a little bit better and more optimistic. I also loved how there was no real drama here or any unnecessary conflict. It was as easygoing as the café owner himself.

Each episode centered around some new character coming to the café at one point and the ML or even the café owner learning something from the experience.

I felt I learned something too each episode.

If you want something with a driving plot or incredibly emotional this isn't what you're looking for. But, if you want something slow, quiet, and pleasant to start, or even end your day, I think you'll enjoy this.

I am mad at myself that I took this long to get to it.

I loved everything about this drama!

I was entertained by every episode. Bok Joo (FL) and Joon Hyeong (ML) were both spunky cooky people with energy off the charts, Bok Joo's group of friends was supportive and fun (SWAAAG!), and misunderstandings weren't annoying or dragged out.

Also, it was great to see counseling not only recommended but seen as something not shameful. Characters were able to talk about it casually in conversation.

Bok Joo and Joon Hyeong were so cute and natural together. They kept their wackiness and awkwardness and just got some delightful sappy eyes and lines. The pure adoration for each other all over their wonderfully stupid faces made me want to cry. The ML in particular could not hide his "in love" look for the life of him.

"A time that's more beautiful because it's awkward and clumsy, a time that shines brilliantly."

That was my time with this drama.

To truly find comfort when you are miserable, you need someone who has been there—no, not been there—is there. In a way, that means you're glad they're in misery, though. But is that so wrong? To wish to find someone to look through you and sigh because they see it, feel it.

I've watched many a comfort drama. Many fluffy, sugar-filled pieces of media to go to to laugh and smile until I forget my worries. But never have I ever felt seen through in a way that hurt but healed, like this drama did for me. This was the familiar chill that seeps into your bones after stepping outside that reminds you you're alive.

His heavy back and her set eyes, their shadows came together.

We forget that being in love doesn't just mean opening yourself up to love and be loved by someone; it also means opening yourself up to hurt. Putting into someone's hands your still-beating heart and trusting they won't squeeze it too hard. After all, we are hurt the most by those we love.

It is a terrifying and courageous thing to have been hurt by someone you loved and even think of giving another person the power to hurt you like that again.

But we not only deserve to take that risk like everyone else, we owe it to ourselves, when we're ready:

"I think I needed time
To dare
To take in air
Alone."

I took my time to sit with them in their pain and quietly heal along with them. And then, the world wasn't magically brighter, but a room was finally tidied, a picture was hung where it belonged, a tent was used, and a walk was taken.

It was time.

If you're in a place where a heavy and healing melodrama would do you good, I recommend this one to you.

I have a soft spot for this. It was one of my first K-Dramas. And, it's really funny. Plus, the soundtrack is everything. "Without words" is in my music library.

Can a man somehow be likeably arrogant? Apparently!

This ML was pure comedy gold, and not a true "jerk." Just a bit of a secret sweetheart guy who happens to be full of himself. A clueless, but good guy. The FL was confident and capable, more so than the Vice Chairman. Lol.

I loved his relationship with Secretary Kim. They complimented each other so well.

The drama that came to mind for me while watching this was Kill Me Heal Me. Both dealt with PTSD. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim did a better job in my opinion though. It didn't try to throw in a bunch of unnecessary twists and the scenes of Lee Young Joon recalling his past trauma... Moved me beyond words.

This was a riot, and also heartbreaking.

A drama that discusses mental health in a respectful way and has a couple that feels incredibly real and honest about who they are.

Life-changing drama.

Boy, was this a captivating watch with a Bromance that seemed burned out only to come back with a scorching vengeance. Let me tell you, all the leads were engaging and worthy of my investment (the only thing I found just "okay" was the romance). But Jang Hyuk as Bang Won ? This man chewed the scenery like a straight-up GOAT. Like, forget everything and everyone. His powerful presence commanded him to be the center of attention. Sometimes I mistook him for being the main ML, because how could he NOT be?

A comedic and sincere drama that cleverly snuck in the beautiful and heart-wrenching experience of aging and appreciating life with all its regrets and anxieties. Truly, radiant.

When I tell you this was one of the most gripping K-Dramas I have ever seen! The fucking stress this caused me! I was biting my nails, screaming/hyperventilating, unable to relax for a single second!

As a person who can't handle face stuff (biting of the face/neck, poking out of eyes, etc.),  the mute button was my best friend here.

I demand consequences in S2, though, for the wrongs that happened here. Some people need justice, others need serious comeuppance.

Political games and plots played out over and over, and yet Acting President Park Moo Jin continued to fight to make decisions for the good of the people while keeping his principles, even when they weren't favorable to him.

If there was only such a candidate in my country.

"I just want a good person to win for a change."

Side Note: The epic stress this drama caused me was legendary.

If you are a dialogue junkie like me and like to see characters find the snake path in difficult situations, this is the drama for you.

Tell me how did I not watch this sooner?!

Layered cultures and conflicts, politics, race wars, class struggles, power plays, prophecies, and religion, all told within a new imagined age featuring the coexistence of the fantastical and the creation/advancement of civilization itself. The grand scale of it all astounds me.

And the costuming and commitment from the actors are just the cherries on top!

It's like if they took one of my favorite guilty pleasure TV shows, Reign, took out a lot of the unnecessary crap, actually made the pagan gods real, and gave some of the characters fairy wings and devil horns. Except make it make way more sense than how I just pitched it!

When I first put this on my list, I was only planning to watch Part 1. Now I see that is an impossible task!

It's just so much fun!

Do Bong Soon is a really engaging and likeable character. I like how they broke some stereotypes here by having the female lead be the more confident and strong one in the relationship.

Also, Ahn Min Hyuk may be a possible canonical Bisexual. So, that's cool!

This drama came along just at the right time in my life when I very much needed some comfort. For that, thank you, Record of Youth :)

This drama had the most wonderful, non-toxic, respectful, kind, and not-cold ML. For the majority of the drama his and the FL's relationship was beautifully communicative, healthy, fun, flirty, and understanding. They also had great chemistry together and had their own separate lives and goals apart from each other.

I found this drama very soothing as well as true-to-life a lot of the time.

This was everything!

If I had to summarize what I loved the most about it: Communication for the win!!!

These two were just amazing. The communication and understanding. The sheer adorableness and adoration. They have their issues, but they work them out, and they do it well. The ML was legitimately so soft. How can someone be so sweet and thoughtful? Exploring the Nice Male Lead tag was indeed a wise decision.

On top of having great leads that go well together, the comedy was fantastic. The sound effects were used well here. I had a hard time containing my laughter at many points. Also, the side couple had a cute as hell story that moved me.

Amazing! I can't believe how good this was. It really grabs you and keeps you the whole way through.

The effects in this are also really cool.

This was so fucking good. It really took me back to my Hannibal watching days.

It's not too terribly dark but more comedic even though it shares a similar plot/tone.

A story about an intelligent and refined serial killer (also a cannibal though in Hannibal's case) and a well-meaning but sometimes naïve person whose thoughts can become twisted who is in some way corrupted and finds himself similar to the killer himself.

I loved the absolute crap out of the darker moments. I only wish it went even further, even though I found the comedy and silliness funny as well as entertaining. All around it was a highly entertaining drama that I will most likely revisit.

The premise itself is really interesting. And the acting is amazing!

When the characters are sad. You REALLY feel it. Also, the mystery keeps you engaged.

The acting is great, of course. Though, I didn't expect anything less considering who was in the main cast.

The power was also neat and I liked how it was utilized. And, the moral greyness present due to the actions of some of the people only added to how compelling it already was because of the story and high stakes.

I'm so happy I finally sat down and watched this!

My only main complaint, though I'm not familiar with how it really is in South Korea only in the U.S., is how many times the law was disregarded and/or abused so easily. For example, do they not care about conflicts of interest?!

*breathes* But, it's a drama and not real life, so I won't let it affect my rating. At least this time. Lol.

 I'm glad I finally got to this after waiting so long. I only wish I saw it sooner. 

The characters are complex and likeable in their own way.

This was heart-wrenching and beautiful. It makes it all the more impactful and upsetting to know this was based on real events. 

Some people just hurt others without thinking or giving a damn about what they're doing. And others don't take into consideration someone's personal well-being and what brings them joy/peace in life.

I loved just how odd the ML was. And he was actually quite nice in many ways. He was not really intentionally cold for the sake of being a jerk.  He was very respectful of the FL making her own choices and living her own life as well as her personal space. Not just that but he did ask for consent to hug and kiss her.

And what made their romance unique for me was that outside of their love I could actually see them just being great best friends. They watch soccer together and drink beer just like some buddies would during a night out. Not to mention these two were absolutely delightfully adorable in their awkwardness.

I enjoyed the other two couples as well. It showed a different range of relationships with their various hardships throughout the drama. Dating and living together for a very long time but not getting married, casually dating without the intention of it getting serious, and marrying for the sake of making life more convenient. 

And I particularly liked the message of going against traditions. A couple should do what works best for them and their relationship. Not what is expected or demanded by others, society, and/or family. After all, are they in the relationship? No, I don't think so.

Note: The only reason I'm not giving this a 9.5/10 is because of the misunderstanding/conflict near the end.

First off, Lee Jong Suk! How does he manage to star in like every drama I like? How? This man cannot seem to pick a bad role or act bad!

Okay, back to my thoughts about the actual drama:

It was crazily addictive and moving! It was impossible to watch one episode at a time, and impossible not to cry several times.

The chemistry was absolutely insane (but I didn't expect anything less really), when there was comedy it was gold, there was some legitimate horror, the story was unpredictable in the best way, and it was somehow realistic and fair while also being cartoonish.

In summary, it was a binge-worthy rollercoaster that I loved, even though I hate IRL rollercoasters. Lol.

Side Note: There were so many kiss scenes! My word. Is it legal to have so many so soon in a K-Drama?

I went and watched it! It was as grand and ridiculous as I thought it would be: Amazing cinematography, epic music, great atmosphere, excellent acting, fun villains, a plot that is always moving forward in interesting ways, convenient solutions that know they're convenient, slow-mo shots that go on too long on purpose, constant murders, a badass pigeon, a FL that doesn't exist to be a love interest, and a cool Italian-speaking ML that is always one step ahead. It was an incredibly fun and bloody drama that heavily leaned into Mafia stereotypes that had jokes that made me lose my mind laughing. What's not to love?

Well, there's one thing. The representation. Specifically, the way Vincenzo behaves regarding a Gay character. Unfortunately, I can't say any more because it spoils one episode. And, because of the word limit on lists. But, in summary, I was very disappointed with the way the creators of the drama decided to go about it.

As many of you on MDL know I have been on a journey to hunt down and write about LGBT+ rep in K-Dramas. I've found some great hidden gems, some average portrayals, and, in this case, a wasted opportunity. This could have gone a route similar to Nevertheless or Moment at Eighteen. Both were very popular dramas that normalized LGBT+ people and incorporated their stories easily alongside the main characters. But, they decided not to do that here. LGBT+ characters don't have to be perfectly flawless and get 100% happy endings. But, they shouldn't be made fun of for their sexuality. Let's go forward, not backward.

They did a brilliant job at blending the dreams with reality, as well as the past with the present. By the end of the drama, I felt as though all the loose threads had come together.

The friendship between the three leads was just fun. They were so entertaining! Also, the SML was sweet, supportive, and adorably shipped the ML and FL. He was just the best. ERROR: No forced Love Triangle to be found!

We once again got a genuine reality dating show with time to address the experience/struggle of being Queer/coming out. I felt this second season had even more heart to it than the first, actually. I will be eagerly awaiting the third season! Also, "Her Woman?" When? I WANT IT!

To think that it was only in 2020 when (arguably) the first Korea BL Drama (Where Your Eyes Linger) was released to now in 2022 when we have Korea's first Gay reality dating show is truly surreal.

They managed to make this show comforting but also not shy away from hardships. While watching I was wondering to myself if they were ever going to discuss coming out or the possible consequences of being on the show at all, only to see them dedicate one episode specifically to having everyone share their experiences and feelings on the matter. I felt like the creators of this show genuinely cared about Queer people and sharing their stories.

In Korea, we've gone from merely having some side LGBT+ characters to some dramas centered specifically around them and their romances to actually portraying real Queer people on the screen.

His Man and Merry Queer are important stepping stones, for sure. Let's not just stop here though. Let's keep going!

Another season of His Man and another season where I root for a ship and see such promise; it hits rocky seas, I find hope in some moments, and then the bow meets the rocks, and it all gets dashed to pieces. But it's fine. It's okay. I'm used to it.

In all seriousness, who ended/didn't end up with who aside? Can we stop for a moment to appreciate how amazing it is that we've gotten three seasons of His Man?! I thought S2 was a miracle! How far Korea has come in regard to Queer representation in media in just the last few years!

Here's the thing: Much as I adore this show, though, how I do adore His Man, I have to take a full point off for not following up with the other participants at the end. Because why? You can't show me the outcome for some and then just leave me hanging with the rest like that!

Overall an enjoyable watch with real characters with real flaws, as the title says.

The crude humor can be a bit much at times but at a certain point in the drama they dispense with resorting to it. The rest of the time I was laughing or smiling hysterically. The jokes usually hit well, and I loved the "All by myself!" bit. In particular when any of the brothers were involved it was a good time. They played off of each other and the sister incredibly well.

It's nothing short of fantastic. The past was carefully threaded with the present. Not to mention, this was a rare instance where the FL almost entirely overshadowed the ML. She was an intriguing character who was vulnerable yet also mentally strong. Some of my favorite scenes were ones showing her backstory.

And, the way they dealt with trauma was perfect: sometimes it can stay buried for years and then come back in full force.

I see why this is so loved.

It was a hard-fought revenge that, while perhaps not healing, at the very least brought some small resolution. In a way, it was the satisfying "comeuppance fantasy" of every victim/survivor brought to fruition.

First off, the romance? Top-tier. I swooned so hard I tripped and fell for a non-existent diety-of-sorts only to root for his happiness with someone else—poor me. White Truck of Doom, you can claim me now; I'm ready. Secondly, this felt like two dramas wrapped in one due to the conflicting tones. Somehow, they managed to make it work without giving me whiplash, though.

#1 Tone. True Doom: It'd almost be funny if it weren't so hopeless and unfair. It's so much it's numbing. Misery loves company though and this comforts the miserable.

#2 Tone. Hope in Doom: Maybe if we believe, it can change. Maybe there is a joy in living fully, embracing the oncoming tragedy as inevitable. Maybe there is power in accepting your fate.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely! Definitely worth the hype!

I wouldn't have even known this had existed if not for MDL. That's how it popped up on my radar. You guys were seriously obsessed when it was airing. Lol. But despite the intense hype, the FMV's, and the fanfiction at the time, I didn't watch it. Granted, months later, I caved. This was one of the few times I decided to follow the masses like a fellow zombie to see what was so interesting.

Was it worth it?

Overall, yes.

I'm a sucker for anything with dystopia. This was at least in the realm of realistic dystopia, which I definitely enjoyed. The imagery was spectacular, the soundtrack was grand, the plot was unpredictable (thanks to one ML in particular), and the acting from the two ML's was no joke. Kang Yo Han as a character was just epic! Ji Sung (Kang Yo Han) nailed every scene he was in. He embodied the complex judge. And Park Jin Young did an excellent job too as Kim Ga On. He was just as good here as he was in He is Psychometric, if not better.

In my opinion, the first 10 episodes were enthralling perfection. Spot on. Highly recommend.

Now, after that was where the problems hit (though I did have some before but they were mostly ignorable, mostly). Not enough for me to hate the drama or want to drop it. But, enough to make me highly annoyed at times.

Damn! What an excellent revenge drama this was! It reminded me of Kingsman with its use of banging tunes, clever gadgets, and high-paced/tunnel-vision fight scenes. Except rather than suits and high-class British accents, this had an iconically ragtag group smiling with blood in their teeth.

Altogether, it was fabulous.

My one critique—and I do mean my one critique—-is that I wanted a bit more from Prosecutor Ha Na. I wish they had divulged some of her personal life to make her more rounded/give her more of a connection to everything.

Damn, was this twisted and thrilling. The sick artistry of the killer, the repeating beautiful yet haunting melody, this unexplained "monster." What a creatively gory and action-packed drama. And Jung Hae In did an excellent job in this role!

Crazy, gutsy, and calming. That's how I would summarize Itaewon Class.

God, to introduce such a caring and amazing role model of a father with a great bond with his son only to take him away from him and shake up his entire world in the first episode? Quite bold!

And said son, Saeroyi? Well, he is a ML for the ages. Mature, mentally strong, morally upright, and forgiving beyond measure. Underneath his desire for revenge, his duty to his conscience and his stronger desire to care for "his people." Not everyone deserves a Saeroyi, but goodness, would it be nice to have one to lean on or go to for advice. Also, he said Trans rights!

And the romance?!

Yi Seo was such an excellent dark horse FL. I can honestly say I did not expect her to end up with Saeroyi.  And she was fascinating to observe as she not only got her love returned to her but thrived in life. I did often find her abrasive and tactless at times, but she always worked hard and, when it mattered, came through for the people she cared about

The "villains" antics resulted in straight-up insanity, but the strong antagonists and grounded scenes that resulted in overwhelming emotions seemingly made up for all of it.

All in all, a unique drama sure to stay in my mind.

Regarding Representation: My thoughts? Go watch the damn drama because it is truly that good.

This manic pixie dream girl-inspired drama was a feast for the eyes and an experiment with framing that I found to be both alluring and soulless. And the chemistry and sheer need between the two leads for each other drove me insane.

I think the closest comparison I can come up with is Breakfast at Tiffany's (an American film). If you know, you know.

I can see why people went crazy for it.

It was easy and pleasant, dark and difficult. Beyond the wide smiles and trembling hands was a strong sisterhood waiting at the door when one member got home to drink, eat, laugh, cry, hug, and sit in silence with. A found family to both admire and hold accountable because they're all stumbling and running together.

If you're looking for something just a tiny bit My Liberation Notes reminiscent, look no further.

Quick, irresponsible decisions, temper tantrums, righteous outbursts, bold declarations, moments so embarrassing you wish the ground would swallow you, consistent effort, never-ending spirit, naive optimism, love and loss, and finally, coming into maturity.

To those who crack open my diaries with terrible handwriting, I wonder how it will feel for them to know the me from the past.

There were people whom I talked of extensively that, at the time, left such a substantial impact on me, only to never make another appearance in my life. Too-long angry/overexcited rants over the smallest of things. Random references that stick out like a sore thumb years later. Hopes and dreams I left by the wayside. Pages I left blank because I knew well what I felt but couldn't bear to put pen to paper. Even blatant lies I told myself.

But whether miserable or joyful, it was all gloriously me.

They do a great job showing how the characters try to find levity in the darkest moments. Also both the main couple and the side couple have great chemistry and realistic dialogue.

This was such a refreshing firework of a drama! The two leads, in particular, made it crazy fun to watch with their so-far-out-there-they-might-as-well-be-floating-in-space personalities that were only heightened when they shared the same air. And they were consistently predictable yet unpredictable, leaving me either correct in my predictions while also being pleasantly befuddled at the path taken or both puzzled beyond belief and amused. Meanwhile, the side couple offered something unique with the often overlooked issue of financial inequality in a relationship and the myriad of ways it can affect it, including self-inflicted shame, pressure, and guilt.

It was a true delight tuning into Boys Be Brave.  I highly recommend giving it a go! Especially if you're into "quirky" characters and dramas.

This is what happens when you combine a tightly-written script that allows believable overthinking and anxiety as well as understandable conflicts and resolutions to be illustrated, crisp colors, and pleasant background music, with charming actors who can authentically portray both mortification and cuteness.

Really, the biggest criticism I have is the "villain." While anger-inducing, I found them underdeveloped.

This short little K-BL took over a corner in my heart each Wednesday. I'm sad to see it end.

If you find yourself with some time on your hands amid the countless other dramas you are likely watching, I highly recommend giving this one a try, in particular, when you want something light ?

This! This is how you make a short K-BL that not only doesn't stick to clichés and tropes and has a plot that flows smoothly but is also hilarious, warm, and bubbly.

Trust that I will most definitely be revisiting this little drama in the future for some needed giggles and abrupt bursts of laughter.

Before this came out, I wondered why on earth they would make a second season when things were already wrapped up—mainly from the belief that the couple from season one would be returning and starring in this. Later, I found it a little confusing with three couples to keep up with, but not too shabby for a second season no one really asked for. Then, it ultimately grew on me, and I fell so far head over heels for two of the couples I faceplanted on the pavement and just lay there in agonizing pain refusing any help to get me on my feet.

Like, let me tell you, the chemistry? The surprising darkness that shifted the tone but somehow didn't throw me off-kilter? The fucking real-ass vulnerable moments and careful expressions? The sheer cheesiness and cuteness? Ahhhhh! It was SO good.

If you haven't guessed it already, I recommend this. Like, just for loyal, knows what he wants, and hilarious to a fault, Ma Roo, you have to check this out. Man is if the last two brain cells and a golden retriever were next to each other, got struck by lightning, and became a human, but in the best way possible.

Often very sad, but emotionally compelling. It wasn't all sad though, it was also very sweet and calm, with a bit of hopefulness sprinkled in.

The twists were good and they knew when to give us a break from more hard-hitting moments and when they could bring it back in.

 It was also interesting to see a Thai and Korean actor and couple on screen. It felt like a drama that was a bit in each culture, but leaning more toward Korea. I hadn't seen the Korean ML in anything before so I'm not sure if this is his first project or not. Either way, he did an amazing job!

You can bet I will be coming back to watch this again ❤️

Absolutely wonderful! It really speaks to an issue many in the community face, how honest should I be? And, am I lying to protect those I love or to protect myself?

I should also note that the acting is on-point. And, the chemistry is off the charts!

There is a level of understanding to be given to those who have wronged you. And then there is understanding that you did nothing wrong.

When we've struggled because we've been blamed, misunderstood, ignored, and hurt, how comforting would it have been to have heard: You did nothing wrong. They are the ones who are wrong.

These two were so quirky and sarcastic. Luckily, I liked their kind of quirky :) The dry humor may not be to everyone's taste, but I certainly enjoyed it. 

The ML was generally pleasant and kind-hearted. Actually, he was almost kind to a fault. His chemistry with the FL very much reminded me of Record of Youth. The FL was confident as well as romantically awkward, which is probably why she went so well with him. Lol. I adored how her being with him helped him be emotionally vulnerable. Seeing him openly cry and having her be the one to pull him in for a hug truly moved me.

I loved how easy this drama was, that the relationship was equal and they were their own individual person within it, and the conflicts were minimal or solved within one episode. Even the side couple was a joy to watch, though more for comedic purposes.

Admittedly, I started this drama because of the Nice Male Lead tag. I've been getting sick of watching cold jerkish MLs who despite being douchebags get the naïve FL to fall for them and never apologize for their behavior and/or have redemption arcs that don't fully redeem them, so I've been combing through dramas to find some actually good and not-controlling MLs. I was very happy to find that here.

Regarding Representation: This did such an amazing job! There was representation and acknowledgement of LGBT+ people all over! We had an Asexual character, a Gay character, a background Gay couple, a love interest not writing off someone not being Straight, and acknowledgement of wrongly using the community for one's own benefit when one is not a part of it and so does not experience the hardships associated with it.

First off, the music is great. Like, really great. The story and ML is often harsh and sad but also quite uplifting.

The way it describes and shows the feelings and experience of depression and suicidal ideation is scarily accurate. This feeling of emptiness and wishing away time. Going from from passively living to actively wanting to die.

It also showed a realistic portrayal of love for many people. The beginning is exciting and wonderful and it continues for a while until life dulls and your love dulls with it. Unless you discover and feel that love again and come to realize why you felt it to begin with.

A really good time travel drama that was also a rollercoaster of emotions for me. It hurt to see the reality of what was happening behind the scenes. It's a mystery with small twists and hidden Easter eggs that make all the difference but it also feels like a tragedy at many points. Very much affected me.

It was just a really good crime drama. Makes me want to jump back into (believe it or not) one of my favorite genres more.
