After the enormous success of GAP The Series in late 2022 early 2023, Thai producers finally decided that GL was profitable enough to actually fund it. There are short indie GL projects and a couple of movies before that time, but no full series. It's crazy how quickly GL grew and diversified in a measly couple of years. The genre is an offshoot of the BL genre, which had a slower development, with major economic successes kicking off more investment being Love Sick in 2014, SOTUS in 2016 and 2gether in 2020.
