Favorite Dramas
I mostly watch romance dramas or at least dramas that focus on meaningful relationships. A happy ending is preferred but I do enjoy a well-written tragedy.
-
1. My Mister
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Only second to Black Sails as my favorite drama/tv show of all time.
One of the most beautiful OSTs, both vocal and instrumental.
-
2. Flower of Evil
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
The first kdrama I ever watched and was my favorite until My Mister.
-
3. Learning to Love
Japanese Drama - 2025, 11 episodes
Another beautiful OST, especially My Castle by Yugo Kanno. I love the guitar version just as much.
-
4. Love between Fairy and Devil
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
This was the first drama I ever watched so it holds a special place for that reason alone. Fun characters, beautiful story and visuals, one of the best OSTs.
-
5. My Dearest
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
From episode three till the end, no other drama has made me feel as overwhelmed with emotions as this one did. The character development was so well done. The main relationship was fun, tragic, beautiful. The actors were amazing.
Another OST that I absolutely love, the main theme song, Afternoon Lady Ⅱ.
-
6. My Dearest Part 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 11 episodes
Some of the most epic romantic scenes in anything I've watched. It's been almost two years since I finished this drama, and I still think about two scenes in particular.
I love how they tied in Yoo Gil-chae's dream from the first episode into the rest of the story.
-
7. Goodbye My Princess: Director's Cut
Chinese Drama - 2019, 55 episodes
Favorite drama pairing of all time. Although, it depends on which drama I've watched most recently because I love the My Dearest and My Mister pairings pretty much the same as this one.
First Sight and Little Fox are two of my favorite songs from any drama.
"haunt me, then!"
Would recommend watching the short special episodes after finishing the drama.
-
8. Fangs of Fortune
Chinese Drama - 2024, 34 episodes
Loved almost everything about this drama. Beautiful visuals and OST. The relationships and characters are complex and so satisfying to watch develop over the course of the story.
Found family that is actually well written.
This one has a separate extra episode after the finale that's important to watch as well.
-
9. Snowy Night Timeless Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes
Very visually beautiful drama. As a romance enjoyer, I liked that most of the story focused on developing the main couple.
-
10. Till the End of the Moon
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
Toxic, angsty, beautifully made, great back and forth/true enemies and lovers relationship.
Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi made any frustrating story decisions worth the watch.
-
11. Lighter & Princess
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
Didn't think I enjoyed modern cdramas all that much until I watched this one. How their relationship develops, particularly in the second half, is very satisfying.
-
12. Our Generation
Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes
A heartfelt coming-of-age drama with a complicated romance. The friendships and family dynamics help to round out a really solid drama.
I appreciate how it emphasizes the importance of having a good support system/community, especially for teens and young adults, who face so many different challenges growing up.
One of Zhao Jinmai's best performances.
-
13. Derailment
Chinese Drama - 2023, 30 episodes
The Sci-Fi storyline in this was so interesting to me. The makeup stuff (that seemed to take up too much screentime), not so much lol. Regardless, what the writers did with the main mystery and the relationship development of the two leads was so enjoyable to me, that it made up for the weaker storylines.
-
14. Lost You Forever
Chinese Drama - 2023, 39 episodes
Love season one and the focus on the different ways that the characters heal (or not) from their trauma. Xiao Yao and Tushan Jing were my favorites. And Cang Xuan's obsessive love was fun to watch as well (he gave me the Li Chengyin vibes we rarely get in dramas these days).
Unfortunately, season two was mostly a disappointment but the acting and visuals were still good.
-
15. That Winter, the Wind Blows
Korean Drama - 2013, 16 episodes
The (fake) forbidden romance was so fun to watch. I didn't think the writers would take it as far as they did, but I personally enjoyed all the angst; newer dramas need to take some notes lol.
"I who want to live, met a woman who wants to die" <--- that guy, a conman, falls in love with his mark who also happens to be his fake sister.
-
16. Fortune Writer
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
Well-paced and well-written story that has some refreshing takes on common cdrama tropes.
I appreciated that the FL and ML were equally important to each other's character development.
-
17. The Blossoming Love
Chinese Drama - 2025, 40 episodes
Unexpectedly loved this one. It's a well-written story about defying the gods/fate with an OTP of opposites attract.
Sometimes the supporting cast in dramas can feel like they're only there for comedic relief but Wang Duo's character was equally as interesting as the main leads.
-
18. Coffee Prince
Korean Drama - 2007, 17 episodes
Both Yoon Eun-hye and Gong Yoo are perfect in this. They have such a comfortable chemistry.
It's definitely a bit dated but I think for its time, it handles the LGBTQ+ storyline ok.
-
19. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
A mystery drama with a forbidden romance side plot. The three main characters are flawed complicated human beings, who often make mistakes, which makes them so interesting to watch.
-
20. Another Miss Oh
Korean Drama - 2016, 18 episodes
Same writer as My Mister. Kind of goofy at times but still very entertaining.
-
21. Bromance
Taiwanese Drama - 2015, 18 episodes
First of all, Baron Chen's hair in this drama is amazing lol!
Secondly, the chemistry between Baron Chen and Megan Lai is so fun.
-
22. You Are My Destiny
Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes
Jang Na-ra and Jang Hyuk! Are they the Yunlu of kdramas?
The first half was fun but too goofy for me at times AND THEN the second half happened and made me obsessed. Handled some challenging topics pretty well and others...some odd choices were made. I'm not usually a comedy fan but I found myself laughing out loud frequently because the acting is so good!
Lovely OST too.
-
23. The Glory
Chinese Drama - 2025, 30 episodes
Beautifully made drama (especially the costumes and cinematography) with great acting from most of the cast and a satisfyingly written revenge story.
Not as focused on romance but still has multiple meaningful relationships, particularly between the women. Shout out to Hanyan and Chai Jing :')
-
24. Love in the Clouds
Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes
There's a fake relationship, lies, betrayal, hidden identities, falling in love with your mark, battle couple moments, great kisses!
Starts off a bit too comedy focused for me, but it gets more serious as the drama progresses. Could've had more episodes to better flesh out some of the character and relationship arcs but overall worth watching if you enjoy complicated romances.
-
25. Reborn
Chinese Drama - 2025, 23 episodes
Important, well-made, and thoughtful drama.
Shoutout to Liu Dan and Zhang Jingyi for giving two powerful performances among many other great ones in this drama.
-
26. Sniper Butterfly
Chinese Drama - 2025, 30 episodes
Really enjoyable age-gap romance. Has some swoon worthy kisses!
-
27. The Rise of Phoenixes
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
Ni Ni and Chen Kun, enough said lol!
Honestly though, at one point I thought this might become my favorite historical cdrama but...the second half was a little disappointing.
-
28. In the Mood for Love
Hong Kong Movie - 2000
Not a drama but if you loved My Mister and appreciated the show vs tell storytelling in that, you should give this movie a try.
-
29. Wonderland of Love
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
Xu Kai and Jing Tian have the type of chemistry where they'll be having entire conversations just by looking at each other. I don't remember much of the story, but I do remember being obsessed with them.
-
30. F4 Thailand: Boys over Flowers
Thai Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Very thoughtful, well-written story, characters, themes. I preferred the first ten episodes to the last half, but it was still worth the watch.
-
31. Word of Honor
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
I loved the main couple and their chemistry (the yearning!). The wuxia elements were entertaining as well.
Make sure to watch the separate epilogue episode.
-
32. Love and Redemption
Chinese Drama - 2020, 59 episodes
Even though I was never obsessed with anything about this drama, the story was mostly entertaining and the performances were great.
-
33. Shadow Love
Chinese Drama - 2025, 38 episodes
A fun enemies (who form an unexpected magical codependent bond) to equally devoted lovers story.
The writing falters at times (to be honest, the drama other than the main romance is not that great), but the positives of the main love story far outweigh the negatives, in my opinion.
Fans of Tushan Jing/Xiang Liu/and a hint of Cang Xuan will probably enjoy this ML.
-
34. Hyper Knife
Korean Drama - 2025, 8 episodes
The toxic obsessed "nobody gets to kill you/have you/love you but me" soulmate relationship between the two leads was so fun to watch.
-
35. Les Belles
Chinese Drama - 2025, 26 episodes
Historical romcoms are the genre of romance I dislike the most but this one I really enjoyed.
The two leads have such a fun and comfortable chemistry. I'd watch it again just for them tbh.
The OST was great as well.
