105. Night of the Brocade Moon
Chinese Drama - 2025, 79 episodes

Well, this was way worse than I was expecting and hoping for. The initial premise was compelling and the role reversal was really giving, but unfortunately that loses its charm fairly quickly. FL can't decide whether she's strong or not so she's kinda both and neither at the same time, fluctuating between independency and helplessness. ML, of course, could not escape from the secret badass identity which just felt repetitive and boring. I liked his green-tea/coquettish nature though, it almost reminded me a bit of My Lady General but ultimately, extremely disappointing.
The plot made no sense, the acting was okay at best (mostly from ML), and the quality was atrocious.

106. Ai Yi Nan Tao
Chinese Drama - 2025, 44 episodes
11/08/25
For a vertical minidrama this was pretty good. The plot, though with issues, was pretty coherent and interesting, especially after the previous one I watched. The characters were endearing and different than the usual (mostly all but ML, but event he secondary love rivals). The quality was decent and the acting was all around pretty solid. Not a bad watch at all.
Unfortunately though the intro felt kinda disconnected from the rest and isn't really addressed a whole lot. Kinda wild to throw in a random kidnapping, S.A, and stockholm syndrome arc only for it to ultimately not add a whole lot.

107. A Dream like the True Love
Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes

Not like the other cdramas. Amazing first 17 episodes full of angst, role reversal, solid storytelling, and atypical leads. The type of drama that you'd more commonly find in the non-idol spaces. The quality was great, the romance was delightful, and the acting was solid. Highly recommend if you skip the last couples of episodes.

108. The Bangkok Boy
Thai Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
10/08/25 - 17/08/25
Had a lot of good and bad things so it's hard to rate. It thankfully lacked a lot of the cringe present in a lot of Thai dramas, paired with a more simple but intimate filming style and good team chemistry. The acting was pretty good but a miss in certain areas. The plot was good but felt very rushed, like they were just leaping from plot point to plot point and never really giving us time to breathe. Romance was great, good chemistry, and good dynamics. Loved the angst and the whump but the plot has too much wrong with it to give it a higher rating...

Beautiful drama with intimate romance and good revenge boggled down by excessive suffering. Loved the disabled ML rep and the setting was lovely (as were the first couple of episodes) but it loses itself as the story progresses and becomes a mess you just want to end. Overall good quality in terms of production and acting.

Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes
03/08/25 - 23/08/25
The first 10-12 episodes were extremely compelling but then they pull the rug right from under the viewers and turn the serious enemies to lovers war drama into a slapstick comedy. This carries on until about episode 28 where it remembers what drama it's supposed to be and tries to bring back the intensity from the beginning but it's far too little too late. The kind of drama I skipped most of the second half and regret nothing.

Still a great watch even upon a rewatch. The leads chemistry is everything, the unhinged plot is hilarious and the leads' styling still makes me giddy (still thinking about ML's braided hairstyle lol). Skipped through a lot/most of the political scenes though, didn't care much for them the first time around and its no different on rewatch.

Interesting concept, interesting setup but lackluster execution. The story had all the elements of being interesting but instead it meandered endlessly with typical xianxia misunderstandings, "I hurt you because I love you"s which weakened the plot a lot. The leads were both good with good chemistry but the story was a mess.

116. Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force
Chinese Movie - 2025

A disappointment compared to the first. A movie that could've been a prologue. The plot was paper thin, the characters did a whole lot of standing around, there were precious few character moments that mattered, the romance did not get the development it needed, characters that should've done things didn't, the villains were either a joke or had no clear goals, the heroes only won because of the thickest plot armour and a plethora of deus ex machinas, and there were mostly fight scenes that went on forever and didn't look good. An overreliance on CGI.
I still enjoyed it for what it was even if it was a husk of it's prequel. I ADORED FL though. WOW!

A cute and funny microdrama about family and business with a generous load of role reversal. The leads had such good chemistry and both actors were good. Loved the flirty FL x shy ML dynamic they had going on. A lot of scenes were genuinely funny but the constant wave of cartoonish villains became a bit tiresome.

Weaker than the previous season. Not really all that funny (still funny enough but not comparable) and the cringe was hard to handle. It was shorter and seemed more aimless in a way. People say that ML was growing as a character but I'm not really sure I see it? They also still didn't explain how this one guy seems to be influencing ML...
Something about it feels very dystopian in a way? IDK how to explain it but it makes me somewhat uncomfy

Very well-crafted mystery thriller with endearing characters and a heartfelt story. Though it wasn't without its issues, I honestly loved pretty much everything about it. The characters and how it was female focused and female led with strong women across the board, the setting being during Wu Zetian's reign, how pookie ML was despite acting all tough, the not-so-subtle romance/soulmates thing ML and FL had going on, the stellar OST, the beautiful shots, the atypical setting, and the fact that ML and FL were commoners! Honestly this had everything I loved in a drama! I'm so glad I watched it

An enjoyable dark comedy about an assassin. It's very campy and weird but it also really commits to pretty good fight scenes. I liked the characters enough but thought some of them were underutilised. The ending arc was my favourite, I loved how they balanced the comedic elements with the suddenly very dark tone the drama took. Despite it, the arc was too brief and character motives were ambiguous at best.

Finished it in one sitting 'cause I knew I wouldn't otherwise... Not bad but definitely not good either, it's just okay if you can handle a lotta edge. The highlight was definitely the sweet brotherhood between the MLs, everything else was mid to exhausting. The kinda plot that works because the leads are dumb and the villains have the thickest plot armor. It IS however better than "My Name" but that's honestly not saying much...

Overall pretty good but less good than Warriors of the Dawn (which is VERY similar). Beautiful cinematography with that retro feel, realism, and beautiful men (seriously simping for ML's luscious long hair and SML's face card, sheesh). Just was too long, draggy, and I didn't care for a lot of the quiet moments. Certain parts were also hard to follow because of the filming style.

Honestly, a unique one-of-a-kind experience. I'm so glad I didn't put this off because of the ending. Especially the last couple of episodes started to really move me. I still have some unanswered questions, and some details were unfortunate, which is the only reason I couldn't give it a 10/10, but it's a solid 9.8/10. 137. Learning to Love
Japanese Drama - 2025, 11 episodes
01/10/25 - 05/10/25
Tasteful and well-written, fairly mature romance tackling social issues. This drama took cliches and added enough twists to them to make them fresh and fun. It's a story we've seen before, but with a twist that makes it more captivating. The story is sincere and full of heart, showcasing realistic people in realistic scenarios. It's not without its issues, but the intimate, heartfelt romance makes up for it. The ending was probably the biggest letdown with a breakup, misunderstanding, AND timeskip. I feel like this arc needed at least 1-2 more episodes to develop, and then we could've gotten a proper, conclusive happy ending.

Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes
08/10/25 - 10/10/25
Starts out silly but gets very serious and even dark as it progresses. Definitely a hidden gem that requires a bit of trusting the process, but it was refreshing and unusual for a historical cdrama. Though the plot isn't all that unique, the approach they took is. I really liked how they tackled the respawning situation and all the delightful 10/10 whump that came from it. Both MLs are very good, especially SML stood out. Unfortunately, the quality fluctuates with some scenes looking very expensive and crisp, and then having atrocious wigs. It also uses AI shots for transitional scenes, which cheapens the drama so so much.

Tedious, grating, and unsatisfying. Though it still did some interesting things, it meandered endlessly and felt quite disconnected from the previous season. It didn't really pay off the things it set up in S1; instead, it kinda just did the usual 'saving the people' arcs we've seen over and over again, but unlike S1, they completely wrote off the unique approach they had, so it's kinda just bland and boring. Ended up watching it at x2 speed and skipping through a lot.

Some of the cutest shit I've seen in a while. The 'plot' did get a bit draggy and repetitive sometimes, I think it could've easily been an hour less, but I loved the focus on the family and how devastatingly smitten FL was with her husband. Their kid was SOOOO cute. And I love that he's relevant as more than just a glorified prop. This was role reversal done right, which is especially unusual for VSD that like to pull the ol' bait-and-switch. This one does not. You got the badgirl girlboss gangster wife and her goodboy malewife mommy husband aaaaallll throughout. It was amazing. Shit had me giggling and kicking my feet

One of the biggest disappointments of the year. This one was highly recommended and with season 3 coming soon, I was expecting a solid enough watch, but it just proved my general dislike of very popular dramas. Characters more shallow than a sidewalk puddle, bland and predictable cases, surprisingly little car-action, and very underwhelming 'revenge'. This first arc was good, and the second and third ones were okay and meh, respectively, but most of the drama was borderline unwatchable.

Absolutely hilarious romcom with soooo much role reversal, but it unfortunately went downhill a bit after the mid-point. I absolutely adored the commitment to the role reversal and how it was handled (cute but not funny because it was RR). I especially loved how much of a mommy BF ML was. Genuinely such a gentle and caring ML, the greenest flag feminist, and so elegant too. I also loved how thoroughly they reversed the roles. It's still a cdrama, but this is quite some commitment, I will say.

There's something just so queer and/or role reversal about this drama. Like ML giving birth to their baby in FL's body and how babygirl he was in FL's body... Or how downbad FL was in his body. The actors really killed it.

Admittedly started this one a whiiiiile back, but put it on-hold because I was buddy-watching. Ended up finishing it in my own time several months later, so I admittedly forgot the details but remembered enough to not need a rewatch. I remember really enjoying myself in the first half, and I honestly enjoyed myself thoroughly in the second half, too. A drama that doesn't meander. The cases are fresh and interesting, the comedy is actually quirky and well-fitted given the genre, the characters are endearing and you want to root for them, the cinematography and quality are actually so pretty, the music is fitting, etc. It's just all around such a well-made drama that stands out from other k-thrillers with its unique premise and quirky execution. Never a boring moment.
I did find the last episode to be a bit predictable, underwhelming, and tedious. Idk, I was not expecting to be dead right about who the big bad was SO early on T_T I was hoping the drama would pull a quick one on me, but it did not. So we got a very long, draggy, melodramatic episode that just had me wanting it to end already

Chinese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
14/11/25
I liked that it tried out new things, especially with the pottery route (a lot of which they *actually* showed!!), the intercountry bond, and of course, the unique premise (two time travelers stuck in the past with one having been there for a decade). Unfortunately, it was just not very good... T_T The budget was nonexistent, the story was mid, the dubbing... oh god the dubbing, the only person who could act was ML, and yeah...

Interesting but not impressive. It did have a down-to-earth vibe which is common in jdramas and I liked that. The concept is interesting and it was executed alright. I just found it lacking overall. I didn't really care much for the characters or what happened to them. I just didn't want another story of forgiving abusers and thankfully, they didn't really do that. Just overall, an okay watch...

Funny, interesting, and atypical, but fell short in certain aspects. I liked a lot of the things this drama did, very similar to Joy of Life, but poorer overall quality. The actors were good, the comedy was great, the setting was interesting, as was the plot but then there were some unfortunate things that tanked the experience for me: the sheer amount of suicide jokes that weren't really jokes, the family abuse played for laughs, the sudden tonal shift in the last 5ish episodes, the dogshit bimbo FL and the dark and bleak ending (even though I did like it).

Rewatched. Definitely still high-stakes and interesting, but not as incredible as the first time. Car chase sequences were still peak, and the accidental child acquisition trope was *chefs kiss*. Still loved it.

Atypical campy black comedy with assassins. I generally liked it; it was self-aware, and the quality was surprisingly good for a seemingly small production. That being said, it was a bit too... idk, camp ig? But in an odd way- Maybe just not my flavor. Also, don't appreciate the ambiguous ending.

Not bad, but not great either. Had an interesting premise, but ended up dragging on with melodrama and becoming more tedious and comedic than anything else. I liked the romance, tho. The tsundere to malewife pipeline was cute, and FL was forever an independent badass which was also nice.

The site I was watching on was shite and kept delaying the subtitles, so it was more tedious than it should've been, but overall it seemed cute, though nothing memorable.

An interesting perspective on AI. Not sure if the movie intended to be social commentary pro AI or anti AI or neither, but it was a bit ambiguous, which is less than ideal. I kinda felt bad for the SFL who seemed to be very depressed and needing genuine medical intervention rather than an AI nanny.

I liked it but I didn't love it. I think it had potential to be a great longer movie but it wasted a lot of it's little runtime on aesthetics and I thought that was a bit of a shame.

Basically, nothing good about this. Melodramatic, boring, tedious, and glorifying abuse. The characters are inconsistent and ridiculously stupid. Things just happen, and it's just melodramatic slop. If you want to watch a man be abused by every person in his life, then watch it, otherwise, skip.
