Good Chemistry, Weak Characters

Hidden Love has sweet lead chemistry and heartwarming family moments, making it enjoyable in small doses. However, slow pacing, underdeveloped side characters, and the male lead’s sudden emotional shift made it hard to stay invested. Despite some charming moments, I ultimately couldn’t binge it and decided to drop it around episode 16.

I ended up watching one episode at a time, then taking months before picking it up again just to watch one more. I really do want to finish it, but it’s been difficult to stay consistent.

• Reason: From the synopsis, I thought the drama would mainly focus on a Peking opera performer, which really interested me because I loved the opera elements in Love in Flames of War. I initially assumed it would be a bromance, but after watching two episodes and checking the tags, I realized it was a censored BL. Even censored, BL is a hard no for me, and it completely turned me off—especially after finding out that one of the leads is married.
