An unapologetically excessive story

The plot is so good. It makes sense in its own world and there’s nothing to say, it just works. And it is coherent until the end (the very last scene is extremely funny, best take of the whole show). Even though it’s a standard story, it feels unique. This is a powerful affirmation I’m making. Furthermore, I’m not from Thailand but I know that the soap operas Thee watches are popular in the country so the whole thing makes even more sense and it's even funnier.
The main relationship is a slow burn, one of my favourites and I believe is also well written. The first four episodes give the watcher the opportunity to get a full picture of the whole situation and characters' background. Consequentially, there is a strong connection between the viewers and the show. We all feel like entering another world (Thee’s or Peach’s pov), joining the characters’ journey. How this happens is different from other series, all due to Mr Thee, a character we have never seen before.
The timing and development are right. The first kiss (even though is not their best kiss, I think because of the location, not very stable so they couldn’t move much) is great, the setting fabulous. It’s not late, not early. Loved the second kiss as well, the location perfect. The whole scene is good: Peach thinks (the whole episode) about what to do and gives a definitive answer at the end: no waste of time with misunderstandings. This means the relationship is a mature one. We are sure, we are okay and it’s not the end of the series.
The characters are cool, well scripted and elaborated. As I previously said, Thee is the best for me here. I see his growth during the whole show and his love for Peach is so sincere. But, since I am a photographer myself, I especially love Phuwin’s character and the whole shooting/modelling environment. Moreover, Peach seems to be my perfect man: he’s balanced, kind, genuine, mature, confident but not pretentious; he plays an instrument, knows what he wants and I like how he’s dressed up. Mok is also a crucial character. His presence as a friend is reassuring and, at the same time, extremely funny. He is the person who helps Thee and Peach’s encounter (I mean adjusting to each other’s reality): they enter each other’s lives and come up with a harmonious mix truly loving and understanding one another. The balance between main and side couples seems quite right. The only thing I can say is that I would have liked to see more Mok and Rome story (2-3 more scenes) but it’s not a mistake, the screen time is ultimately correct. William is, indeed, a guest character while Perth is a support one.

The acting is not bad either. Pond does a marvellous job, as well as Est; Perth and Santa, William, Bonnie, JJ and Godji are amazing. Overall, the result is good but, sadly, I have to spend a few words about Phuwin’s solo performance. I’d like to preface that I’m a huge fan, okay? I really admire him as a person and actor. I’m sure he gave all he could. Still, in episode 6 there is a very unnatural cry scene (In episode 7 he cries again but his face is covered by his hand so the shoot feels more spontaneous) and some of his facial expressions just feel artificial.
Furthermore, some PondPhuwin’s takes feel forced, not kisses but other physical interactions. I saw them in ‘We Are’ and, frankly, in this show something seems off. Not always, but sometimes. In the previous show (We Are) they felt always natural and comfortable with each other, while here, again just few times, their interactions are somehow restrained and with the handbrake on. One of my favourite scenes of theirs is the sex scene that is, actually, a love scene. If you get what I’m saying you know that was good. The atmosphere is intimate and romantic. They talk and then, just looking at each other, communicate their mutual intention of a deeper physical contact. The scene is gentile, sweet, genuine, right in time and well-acted. I adore it (I think it’s gonna be my favourite of PondPhuwin’s bed shoots).
I don’t really enjoy Thee’s mom’s acting. I believe her performance is correct, considering her character. But still, while Thee seems to fit, she doesn’t. The character is too much, that feels almost out of place.

The music is enjoyable. The effects well emphasize Pond’s great acting performance and I haven’t seen editing or lightning errors. The cinematography is nice: I like the colours, the settings and the attention dedicated to the photography things, both equipment and shootings seem professional.
I don’t like Pond’s tattoo. Let me explain: the idea is great and cool but the result could have been better. The part on the chest is great, the other on the arm not really. In my opinion the two drawings aren’t well connected.

Thank you for reading,
kisses <3
