I got up to episode 4 and couldn't continue anymore sigh. The male lead characterisation is inconsistent, and the female lead is so dull. I don't buy into how the female lead can trust him to be her bodyguard when she already knows so many things don't add up. Also I don't like how the writer makes us root for the female lead, whose business is worth billions and who has ruined the livelihoods of millions of people, forcing some to even kill themselves. It's pure greed how she wants to completely dominate the market share - though I get that the writer wants to make the female lead sympathetic by showing how so many people want her dead.
Also cultured meat is never going to be something the people go for - there will always be concerns about carcinogens and dangerous chemicals being implicated.
Essentially, i thought this drama was about the male lead sneaking into this giant company to expose its ethical misdeeds and the real truth behind GEM meat. I thought there might be some vampire element to it. So many the series was just mis-marketed.
Instead the main motivations for the male lead is finding out who's behind the bombing - which I honestly can't care less about. And I can't bring myself to care much about a billionaire receiving death threats when she's the cause for so much misery to farmers.
Also THAT kiss is definitely staged - you can literally see the camera man adjusting the light in the reflection of the door. ChudJane really never came across to me as someone so callous as to kiss someone and dump them the next day.
I loved this drama - the chemistry between Ak and Ayan was on fire!
BUT I couldn't understand what the protestors were so upset about. Like I would understand if they were protesting about discrimination against LGBT and for equal rights etc. But protesting because you don't want to wear school uniforms is kinda ridiculous. Especially for high school, there are positives to wearing school uniforms - I know that I would have gotten bullied a lot if I had to wear my own clothes every day - not everyone has a nice wardrobe of clothes they can throw on.
Also they kept going on about the school being too strict when it's no more strict that my own high school was. I can understand if the teachers were physically hitting the students or torturing them, but the protestors just felt a bit too over the top to me.
I loved that this had a unique plot - something different from the typical romcom bls coming out. Hate that they've left it unfinished, and that it'll now affect future series from this company.
qian has been attracted to yuan for a long time and that's already been shown, he just didnt recognize that yet.…
But I didn't see how Qian is attracted to Yuan. All I saw was Qian feeling sad that Yuan left, then surprised at how grown up Yuan is when he came back. Maybe it's because I've got younger siblings - I think that for Qian to change his view of Yuan from younger brother to lover needed to be handled a lot more sensitively and with more complexity.
Regarding the storyline - I mean, it really was sloppy in the 2nd half. We're jumping from plot to plot - from Qian's health problem, to Lili's pregnancy, to unnecessary workplace scenes (by the way, Qian was way too happy too quickly to be making it so public that he's dating his younger brother). There wasn't any cohesion in the last 2-3 episodes, so I was quite disappointed - especially after the brilliant writing in the early episodes with the slow build.
Am I the only one left a bit indifferent by the 2nd of half of the series. The actors were brilliant, the setting and budget was good, but honestly the storyline was all over the place. The progression of wei qian accepting zhi yuan's feelings went way too quickly. Within one episode, Wei Qian goes from talking about Zhi Yuan in a paternal/brotherly way - "My biggest wish is that they grow up happy and healthy" to sleeping with him suddenly? We should have had more scenes of Wei Qian feeling attracted by Zhi Yuan first. I think the writing it to be blamed - especially cause they added too much to the plot to satisfactorily end everything.
I really loved this movie. It's not often you find a horror movie focused on siblings - and I really loved the strong bond between the siblings. My favourite scenes were when the 6 of them were together. It's heartwarming to see how they try to find for their dear sister. I feel like the oldest brother and the youngest sister really stole the show with their acting!
I prefer the suspense of the first half compared to the more messy 2nd half to be honest.
Does anyone know if the novel the movie is based on has been translated? I would love to read the original novel! Can't wait for the sequel!
Really can't wait for this. It's so rare to see siblings orientated movies like this. Really liked the first one, hopefully the second one will be even better.
I feel like the original pilot trailer was 100x more intense than what actually ended up being shown.
Literally nothing dangerous about the romance between the main leads - it's your typical, boring cliche. Hate to love within one episode practically. I don't like how the writers softened the vicious, cruel, arrogant bully that Kanghan was. This boy deliberately bullied other boys struggling to survive in poverty. Kanghan is physically violent towards them, demeans and humiliates them, tries to get Sailom's scholarship cancelled - knowing full well how much a poor kid relies on scholarship to get through school and what a huge opportunity it is, falsely accuses Sailom of being a paedophile, tries to get Sailom fired etc etc. Now, if Kanghan's character was written well and his character growth occurred slowly, it would have been more interesting and believable. Instead, Kanghan changes just like that and faces no serious consequences for his bullying actions - even being the one who gives a speech at graduation?!
The only thing I was really invested in was the beautiful brotherly relationship between Saifah and Sailom - wished they'd focused more on this.
Also, why am I shipping Saifah with Kong (Kanghan's father?)?!!😂😂😂 Even at the end of the series, I was like - there's literally nothing stopping those two from getting together. And I swear they have chemistry!!!
In which parallel reality was Jin the one who most deserved to die?Top and Por made Non's life hell and it all…
I disagree. I really like Jin and all his complexities but revenge porn is worse than bullying. The shame and guilt the victim has to live with is immense. Maybe it varies according to different cultures, but as someone who grew up in Asia, I'd be ready to kill myself if a sex video of me goes online.
Interesting that the 2 guys who deserved to die the most - Jin and Tee - end up surviving (kinda). I kinda feel that what Jin did was underplayed - like leaking a sex video of your friend is one of the worst things that someone can do. What Jin did was far worse than Por or Top - who were both your standard school bullies - I don't think they technically deserved to die for it.
Honestly, Tee really ruined Non the most. Tee is the sort of person you need to avoid at all costs in real life. They are bruised and battered people who will do anything for their self interests or the interests of the people they care about - including dragging a friend down to hell. Sure they'd feel bad about it later, but at the end of the day, when you give them a choice, they'll only choose what benefits them the most. At any point once Non was captured and made to work like a slave, Tee could have done the right thing and gone to the police. But he didn't, and Non died.
The innocents I feel are not just White, but also Fluke. I know that Fluke knew what was happening and didn't speak up, but I don't think it's something he deserves to die for - especially in comparison with the other crimes. He was never an active participant in ruining Non's life.
I really feel for Tan but he proved the old saying true - "If you set out for revenge, dig two graves. One for your enemy, and another for yourself". Rather than investigating his brother's death to that extreme, he should have focused on his parents. I do wish that when Tan died, his brother and parents spirits came to take him peacefully - but I suppose that doesn't allign with Buddhist culture.
Loved the twist ending - but would have loved another one where Jin and Phee wakes up and realises they're back on that lorry van that's taking them with the others to the house - so they end up stuck in a time loop haha
Honestly, though the actors did their best, this was so lazily written. Personally, I loved the Jack/Mike couple but even their storyline was wrapped up so quickly and without much thought. Seriously, it's such a ridiculous drama. It's frustrating cause the drama had the budget and the actors but the actual storyline is ridiculous.
Can someone please help me - where can I find the subs for this? Can't find it anywhere. Been trying to access the discord mentioned below but I don't seem to have the access for this.
I agree that Seonwoo definitely wasn't hugely into Seongho. He even admitted that Seongho wasn't his type. I think…
I see what you mean, but in my opinion being jealous to the point of refusing to eat the food from someone who has cooked for you is kinda ridiculous. At that point, Seungho wasn't even officially together with JS and they were both in a dating show. And if what you say is true and JS still isn't eating egg baguette after over 1 year of being on the show, then I do find that quite immature. I love JS as well and think that he's adorable, but I just can't agree with this action of his...
