btw you can also check out the donghua series "Island of Siliang". It's more xuanhuan with a touch of the gods and immortality bit from xianxias but the worldbuilding and story is completely unique and totally different from any fantasy/historical cdrama/novel I've watched or read.

yeah it's pretty much always like that lol. Ppl always say "this one is different" abt every xianxia but imo most of them end up being carrying the same tropes even through the effort to be "different"😭 I personally don't care abt the cliches if they're well done and nicely written; but maybe the genre is not really for you bc the theme is pretty much always an idealistic image of love that changes the characters and makes them do crazy things lol
That being said, I think "Xiao yao" might end up being a really unique xianxia/xuanhuan; so you might wanna check that one out when it airs (it's more investigation and mystery than melodrama). "Dream within a dream" also promised to be a satire that makes fun of xianxia tropes so I'm excited for that show as well ^_^

I definitely didn't mean 5 minutes litterally lol but if we are being honest and logical, she did not have as much of it to get called all that...and tbf DW was also very new to the industry (very much a rookie compared to dudu) and had been doing main roles since the very beginning but nobody was accusing him of buying hot searches and being a nepo boy who got screentime with the help of connections bc ppl go harder on women. No hate or anything to him I'm just comparing to make a point

Intl fans always believe it's about what voice suits which char but it actually just depends on how well the actors deliver their lines and their standard mandarin pronunciation most of the time. I don't speak Chinese so Idk but since some parts of the show uses it's original audio while the leads are dubbed, it's probably a line delivery issue.

well as ppl are saying they're very different genres but imo lotdt doesn't even compare to this one in terms of writing and characters' complexity. I suppose that one a bit more "idol romance" than KMS which is meant to be serious and intriguing. (you didn't hear me say this but tbh I don't find lotdt anything spectacular even compared to other cdramas of the same genre🤷🏻‍♀️)
