And the teachers who were against the production of this drama protested bc the original webtoon had a lot of violently misogynistic themes in it. They deleted those parts from the webtoon and didn't include them in the drama bc of the backlash but it doesn't change the fact that the original creator is bigoted weirdo with very questionable views who's getting richer as we speak bc of this drama.
I think international fans need to try and understand where the korean general public comes from whenever they voice out criticism towards certain dramas or kpop related things that could be politically and culturally insensitive. btw the director is not zrb, its lu haojiji and it's genuinely concerning...he didn't even spend some time reflecting on the criticism two of his shows received almost back to back and jumped straight into the next one. A good director would actually take some time off to study, revist, look back and try to understand WHY their previous works ended up flopping and getting cooked 🙄but yeah quantity is way more important than quality ig

I think ppl are being nostalgia bait bc we have had like 10 of this back in the 2011-2012 time travel kdrama craze 😭 BUT I'm so happy ppl are realising how amazing ljy is and that hnj is gaining recognition since I saw through his baeksang-sweeping charisma from the day I watched him on screen.

Tbh these are all idol dramas with whacky palace politics at the end of the day so if the politics are gonna be illogical at the end of the day, I want the show to at least have interesting characters, which this show does a better job at imo.

Ik many ppl loved SOK but I found the directing, acting and the comically evil antagonists a mess, I also didn't really like the side male chars that were part of the harem. This is very similar to kunning but I personally like it a lot more bc it does what SOK didn't deliver for me much better. Probably a very unpopular opinion but well 🤷🏻‍♀
