My "cringe" is a drop in the ocean compared to the cringe that's this drama and its comment section

I started watching episode 1 for its promise of a femme fatale Robin Hood who robs the wealthy and gives to the needy. Little did I know, the drama is a labyrinth of "straight" cringe, and the comment section a putrid swamp of more cringe. "Rearranged her guts all night?" Seriously? I'll have to throw my brain in a blender and hit "puree"

I'm sitting back with a bucket of popcorn. "Romance" junkies are the ones going cuckoo for cocoa puffs. You can't fathom that many people aren't digging the "romance"

People are still butthurt and worked up over someone's preference for non-romantic dramas

We can say the story would have been better without "romance," and stay for the epic fights. It's not rocket science

@cantstandjerkML, what? I'm not shipping anyone. "Taking her if noone else will" was a lighthearted way to give Lady Maeda the recognition and respect she deserved. No need to get all serious on me

I will take Lady Maeda for myself. She's prettier than Chae Ok. Watching her move is like watching a swan glide across a pond; calm, collected, and effortlessly elegant

I still haven’t completed part 2 but I think romance is a good addition and I don’t mind it! I think it’s…
Relying on or trusting someone doesn't have to be "romantic." It's possible for a man and a woman to be close allies or comrades-in-arms without other feelings involved

But society enjoys playing the hypocritical game of relationship roulette. Two men? "They are just friends." Two women? "They are just pals." A man and woman? The assumptions start flying. They want there to be something more going on

I'm not a naïve fool to wear my heart on my sleeve. The pursuit of "romance" in a catastrophe is distracting and potentially dangerous. People would make decisions based on emotions rather than practical considerations

If I'm not bashing things on the internet, what am I supposed to do with all this pent-up snark and wit? It's got to go somewhere!

Not everyone wants to watch people swap spit or get busy on the big screen. I've been vocal about my discontent with the NSFW trend. This isn't the first time

One of the reasons we turn to Kdramas is because they sometimes offer a refreshing alternative to the gratuitous NSFW scenes of Western shows. Why would you assume that we hold Asian shows to a different standard?

Eat them up? Let's say Asian or non-Asian NSFW scenes were a dish. I'd send it back to the chef and ask for a refund

Japan waged an all-out war on Korean culture and used the missing Korean hostages for inhumane experiments, which is a direct consequence of war. War is a central part of the story

People allowing themselves to get emotionally involved or starting families during wartime is distasteful, inappropriate and ill-advised. They wouldn't be able to provide a stable and secure environment for a family

I hold firm to my belief that the "straight" lifestyle or "procreation" is not an acceptable, moral practice. I can't be okay with a narrative that advocates for it, especially in a time of conflict when the stakes are higher

No need to apologize for sharing your thoughts, that's what this platform is all about. Everyone is welcome to chime in :D

The "romance" genre isn't our cup of tea, and that's okay. With its formulaic storylines, idealized relationships, and problematic tropes, it's a train wreck in slow motion 99% of the time. I'd steer clear and find my thrills elsewhere

I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the "romance" genre

I was drawn to Gyeongseong Creature for its themes of war and human experimentation. The "romance" tag was added later. It was fair game to be caught off guard or disappointed that a promising thriller was hijacked by "romance"

"Is Ms. Han even a human? Is she a ghost?"

The most feminine women dispatching entire armies of men raises questions about the verisimilitude of the narrative. Producers should seek out actresses who embody emotional and physical fortitude

Hey now, don't judge a book by its empty profile! I don't broadcast my Kdrama obsession, but that doesn't mean I don't have one

My favorite Kdramas: Weak Hero Class 1, The King of Pigs, Revenant, The Guest, The Kidnapping Day, Mother, Bloodhounds and Strangers from Hell

Some people might have "shipped" the leads and wished for "romance." I know I wouldn't fall into the category. "Romance" detracts from the dark narrative and theme of the story. And the main leads? They have less chemistry than a mismatched pair of socks

I agree. The Korean actors delivered their Japanese lines with confidence and accuracy. They pulled off the challenging task of playing roles that are outside of their cultural background, and that was commendable

Apparently, there's going to be a "kiss" scene between the main characters? In a story about colonialism, human experimentation and resistance, the feeding frenzy or "lip-lock-of-doom" feels like a serious misstep
