ugh

her voice also bothered me a bit at first but it does get better as her character develops. i ended up liking her character a lot by the end of the series (not that i disliked her to begin with, i just thought the "baby voice" was a bit much in the beginning)

the first c-drama i ever finished. i wasn't sure if i was going to love this when i first started because i've always had an issue with the dubbing in c-dramas, but in this one, i felt like it was done well and didn't bother me. on top of it, due to them using VFX because of the fantasy-like setting, the production value can be kind of campy which took me out of the moment sometimes but in the grand scheme of things all that ended up being insignificant.

i wish the series didn't end so "abruptly" and i have some criticisms regarding some characters, plot points, and pacing. however, overall, it's a good drama if you like grumpy x sunshine, bickering, very angsty relationships, character development for the main leads, and honestly just a roller coaster of emotions. the OST is beautiful as well. if you want to get started on c-dramas and you like romance and fantasy, i think this is a good one to start with.

also, just a heads up because i see people commenting on this a lot. a lot of people complain that they can't get into the drama bc of FL's voice and yes, i do think her voice in the first EPs was a bit too much however without spoiling anything, her character grows a lot throughout the series, and by the end of it, her initial voice is an afterthought.

yeah it's a very outdaded story imo although personally i still enjoyed the thailand version

did you watch the thailand version? i couldn't get into any version but i ended up enjoying F4 Thailand since it's a more modern adaptation. however, it's also a story that is a bit outdated and not everyone's cup of tea so i get it if you can't get into it.

it's perfectly fine for you to not be into the remake! it's not gonna be for everyone. i'm just saying that people who have watched the OG vs people who are watching the remake for the first time will have different perspectives. i rarely see a remake not get criticism for "not being as good as the original", it always happens.

the OG drama has 40 sth episodes, this kdrama will have 16 episodes, it'd be impossible for it to have the same pace. that said, in my opinion the first two-ish EPs of this drama were kind of slow and not the best in terms of making you interested in the story but the show has picked up the pace ever since and it has been getting better each new EP.

most people who complain about this drama are ppl who come into it with certain biases and expectations from the OG which is normal but most people who are seeing this for the first time are loving it so far which is a good sign.

people will always say that about remakes regardless if it's good or not. remakes will never truly capture the essence of the original and that's normal. the k-drama remake is a shorter format than the OG chinese drama and they also made some changes to the story so it'll never be like the OG and it doesn't have to. as someone who has no bias or expectations for this story, it's good so far.

people will always make comparisons between the OG and remakes but i think both have their strengths and weaknesses.

i don't mind it because they made sure to make the separation early on with sanha making it very clear that he doesn't see juwon as his actual family. also, sanha doesn't live with her and he has his own dad so he feels more like a very close friend and neighbor whereas haejun lives with her and was raised almost as her brother. haejun also sees juwon's dad as his dad so a romance between them would feel weirder to me. i think so far they're doing a good job in showing sanha's feelings for juwon but i'm curious to see how juwon's feelings for him will develop.

this may be unrelated but i need to say it. hwang in youp is such a good actor and he does such a good job with his microexpressions which are often neglected by a lot of actors but trust me, they make a big difference. i hope we can get more dramas with him as the male lead.

i'm not sure if that's something they're saving for later, but yeah, so far, she doesn't have much going on for her. all we know about her is that she's a fun and naive girl that cares about the people closest to her but that's about it. i love the boys but i hope we get more from her in the future.

i'm surprisingly enjoying this drama a lot. in my opinion, the first EP wasn't the strongest in terms of making you interested in the show. however, each new EP has been getting progressively better and more interesting. i love the found family dynamics and the drama of it all. i also love how they're showcasing sanha developing feelings for juwon. i was worried that it'd feel forced because of their found family dynamic but even though so far juwon is unaware of his feelings for her, the chemistry between them feels natural and flows well.

the part where sanha's parents are arguing and then they show sanha alone crying in EP 5 made me teary-eyed, they did a good job of bringing emotions out of you in certain scenes. also, this show might as well be called "mommy issues" because so far most of their moms have been terrible people.

one criticism i have so far is that i wish they'd focus a bit more on the female lead, juwon. idk what will happen later in the story so maybe that's something that will happen down the line but so far, she feels like a side character while sanha and haejun take up most of the screen time. i like their characters but i wish they'd give the female lead a bit more depth.

this always happens with the remakes, unfortunately. regardless if a remake is well done or not, people will always make comparisons and say the OG was better. personally, i think it's fine for people to compare when it comes from a place of constructive criticism however they should also keep in mind that a remake is never going to be 1:1 to the original, especially since this is in a shorter format compared to the original and they made some changes to the script.

if you can't stand that this drama changes things from the original, then stick to the original. it's pretty pointless to constantly complain about things that aren't similar to the original when the whole point is that this is a remake with obvious intentional changes. i never watched the original so i can't compare it but i'm enjoy this drama a lot. i thought the start was kind of weak but each EP has been getting better and better.

the first two EPs or so were kind of boring, the show had a weak start but the last two EPs have been getting more interesting.

i saw some people saying the FL was annoying but i don't really agree. if anything she just comes across as naive which i assume is intentional. i'm enjoying it so far.

i definitely think the first 2-ish episodes were kind of boring and the first EP isn't enough to grab someone's interest to watch the show in my opinion but the pace starts picking up from episode 3 onwards. i liked the last two episodes and i hope going forward it continues that way.

thank you! comments like "it's an action series, not romance" are kind of weird cause lot of action series include romance subplots. having a romantic pairing in the story doesn't suddenly make the series "romantic" but a well done romance subplot can add substance to the story and its characters. personally i'm not asking for romance in this story but i also wouldn't mind it if it's well done.
