Yue and emperor loved each other, and in a normal relation, I believe he will only marry her . But for alliancd reasons, he married the other and she accepted being a consort, to be with him. Their relation is on equal footing - you see actually he deffers to her- while the empress is polite and kind , so just formal affection.
