I feel like this drama is composed of two dramas with different tropes and the same characters. Also apparently Shen Juan is the Barbie of this world, he is a silver jewelry craftsman, a top genios student that gets the highest scores despite skipping and sleeping through class, he is a good at martial arts or at least self defense?, he is good at shooting, and has had the most tragic life story that any character could possibly have.
This might just be the highest rated historical cdrama of the year on MDL.
To be honest so far at least for me this is definitely the highest rated drama across all genres and I feel it is deservingly so specially after all the mediocre stuff that C-drama land has aired this ear.
I've been putting my perseverance to the test and have so far only watched up to episode 32 and I keep going back…
I literally waited until the drama had release up to episode 29 to start watching so I could slowly binge it all, but I am already caught up, I hope YOUKU releases the express package tomorrow.
Watched this because of Lu Yang Yang, because she had a drama last year that I truly enjoyed, but this was awful. Extremely predictable and very toxic. I feel like this is the plot of something I wrote when I was in 4th grade.
I want to watch this drama for Xing Fei and Chen Zheyuan, but as somebody who had to flee my country due to communism these dramas always infuriate me. I think both of them are great actors, but much after all the Chinese dramas I have watched I tend to avoid certain topics just so that I can maintain my sanity. Hu Tong was a disappointment despite Zhao Lusi’s, Lin Yi’s, and Hou Ming Hao’s awesome performances. Should I give this drama a shot I don’t really know? What do you guys think?
I am in episode 4 right now and I have to say I really struggled to get through episode 1, but after episode 2 I really think the drama picks up although I see some comments about the coming episodes so maybe it’s too soon to talk. Genuinely surprised after the flop both Xing Fei and Ren Joslyn had last year.
I mean, he did rejected her already once, so I kind of understand where she's coming from. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And it was a pretty ruthless rejection too. Like it wasn’t a simple “no”. It was “No, you’re not my type. I don’t like people like you. I don’t like you now, I never did, and I never will.” Or at least I took it like that.
Forgot to mention that not only does the storyline sound great to me, THE CAST IS GREAT TOO
For real, ever since this drama was announced it’s been in my to watch list just because of the cast, but now with all the stills and trailers and all the promotion these last two weeks or so I must say I’m counting down the minutes for tomorrow!
I am so confused with all the fuss about this drama on social media yesterday I was sure it had dropped, but it hasn’t. Come on YOUKU Valentine’s Day was yesterday and we didn’t get any Zhou Ye and Lin Yi action!!!!

I cried so hard during the egg scene. It really just reassured in my heart that Yu Shuxin is an extremely versatile actress that can play a immature character, a serious one, and one that has grown because of the challenges she has had to face.
