Wasn't it revealed that at some point the butler had sort of been friends with the mom?
To me it would make sense for the mom to look horrified if it was the step-mom there along with the butler (who she probably felt as trustworthy because he'd acted like her friend) too.
She would be seeing the lady with evil intent who hates her and the family's butler (potential lackey) who would be strong enough to overpower her.
Makes more sense to me that she would be afraid of him, verses the young man that the brother would have been at the time. Even if it was just the butler actually being there in person (without the step mom), it makes more sense to me .
The butler would also likely have access to recourses at the time that the brother wouldn't, such as: transportation, access to the knowledge of what medication she was on/the fact that it could be deadly, her place of residence ,etc.
Poor Yi Soo, gonna feel so betrayed, he had a better relationship with the butler than with his father . . . And at that point with both his parents dead too, and never having had a better relationship with his dad. :(
Hopefully, he might be able to have some relationship w/ his brother in the end. Seeing as Yi Soo wanted to resign to save his brother, maybe he could understand his brother wanting to protect his family even when they are in the wrong (and he was at a younger age then too).
The way he seemed to be looking right at Yi Soo when he said he could do anything for his family. It's like he was giving him an explanation ahead of time, so that he could understand where he was coming from once Yi Soo eventually found out.
I just don't want him to be alone. :( Good thing he has his fellow officers at least.
I think that for the FL this drama will not only be about her learning to have compassion for others, but for herself as well.
It seems to me that she has never been the type to show kindness and compassion to herself, and that is in part why she struggles to do it for others as well.
I'm taking this as a moment of total irrationality in her thoughts brought on by her fear and her attempted avoidance…
In a way, I'm not surprised it took her so long to realize that her relationship with her past life ex was so toxic. There were so many red flags before the cheating/murder and yet these didn't make a difference. It feels like she is so used to only worrying about whether she's doing everything just so, in a way to please others, that she has forgotten that there are two people that need to be accountable in a relationship. And two treating it with importance. (As well as two people actually being an active part of , and wanting to be in the relationship in the first place).
Here's hoping the message now finally seeps into her skull (you'd think one murder-esque situation would be enough). I feel like she's only applied it to her situation though b/c it was so obviously intensely wrong . She hasn't realized her mindset is toxic for situations that aren't as obviously serious as hers was.
I'd like for this to become a moment of growth for her, where she finally entirely releases this toxic mindset. . . . That hey, cheating and murder do not have to be the only reason for it to be okay to break up even when one party isn't happy with it . . . because hey, it takes two to tango. Everyone needs to care, and everyone needs to be responsible for it to be done right and for the "dance" to truly be meaningful.
