When I first started watching YYXH I thought it'd just be a really simple, straight forward drama. I really didn't expect the screenplay to be as good as it is!
I love how fleshed out all the characters are, especially with the antagonists like the water demons, Guo Xiu, the consort dowager, and even Tao Ying. I didn't like these characters at first because they're seen as the villains, but they're all given back stories and have reasons for their actions. You can't help but understand their situation even tho they're in the wrong. Also with the princess and Ruoshi as well. At first they're seen as the annoying characters trying to break up the main leads, but when they're rejected they respect their crush's feelings and still continue to help them.
But even with all this backstory of the secondary characters, you're never really bored. There are some other dramas I've watched where they try to flesh out secondary characters but spend way too much time on them and it becomes quite annoying. This drama has a really good balance of it!

I'm only watching this at the moment! I had to put FOF and SOPG on hold because I was getting whiplash from switching between all the dramas lol
Honestly recommend you stick with one drama and then move on to the next, otherwise it gets so overwhelming!!

Haha I get it~ I'm a massive Esther fan, but when I first watched LBFAD I almost didn't finish the first episode because of her voice in that (that was also my first c-drama, so glad i stuck with it lol). She dubbed her own voice in this too, but it's not as babyish as her voice in LBFAD if that's what you're wondering ☺️ A lot of her work is great, so it's sad when ppl avoid her because of her voice, but I understand where ur coming from
Her real voice leans more on the higher side, but she's pretty good at voice acting. She mostly gets cast for her cutesy voice tho and that's basically become her thing now. If you wanna hear her lower voice check out her dubbing work!

Gosh, I wish these dramas just weren't released on the same day! It's creating so much unnecessary drama!!
I'm loving both TSOPG and LGIEF so much and think they're both so good! They're both completely different dramas with completely different genres. Why can't we just be happy having 2 vastly different and amazing dramas to watch after such a mediocre year.
Also, please stop down-rating one drama because it's being compared to another drama, it's so petty! (why are ppl even rating ongoing dramas lol???)
All this arguing is just hurting the actresses, Zhao Lusi and Yu Shuxin. They're both great in their own areas! Also, they're literally friends! Lift up the women, don't bring them down :(
