YQQ was smart enough to find the knife and sharpen it for the intention of killing him. The only reason she's couldn't kill QM was because she was drowning, out of oxygen and loss all her strength. If she had her strength, she would have for sure killed him.

QM, YQQ and YBE have many more scenes toegther in the drama than the did in the novel. Whether they divert from the novel is up to question? However, the main premise of the story is still there and Qi Min never warms up to Yun Bao Er because he wil always see the boy as his threat.
