SFL should keep 2 maids instead of one, because the only maid she has behaves like her inner demon. If she had two, maybe one would give her a bit of good advice. Every time SFL has a moment of doubt or shows any sign of character development, like a devil's whisper, her maid starts off spewing poison in her ears.
The trailers don't do justice to the episodes at all; from the trailer, I couldn't feel much about the whole 16-heads situation. But man, when Yang Yu Cheng killed himself in front of the ML to save everyone, when FL was imprisoned by SML, when war was raging high in the garrison. I can now completely understand why ML became someone who now believes only in power and is cold and ruthless, because without this, whom will he protect if he can't even protect himself?
Okay, so from what I understand, SML has a severe inferiority complex and has high self-esteem. He has grown up sheltered and did not actually see or explore the world, plus had little to no authority over his life due to his parents. He naively thinks that being successful is just a normal course of action if one is from a good family and has studied hard, but there should be something wrong if someone of low origin becomes successful (bro has never seen a merchant or a general (well, it kind of does support the idea of how scholarly ministers usually view army soldiers). Thus, seeing how FL burned those written confessions to save ML was quite incomprehensible for him. He claims to want to build something of his own yet uses his family's power whenever he feels like it (wowww.... hypocrite), but somehow doesn't realise it himself. I don't want a redemption arc for him or the SFL i want the revenge arc that ML will bring to them (which might not happen, seeing how the author shields the SML's family from everything)
Okay, so the story started on the premise of marriage. The trailer looked like we would get a married couple, but the way things are, it's all gonna be resolved in the last episode, I guess. Both the FL and all of us don't know what the hell is going on with the marriage part of the story.😂😂 Nearly all the starting episodes were so focused on the FL's marriage; even now, it is, to some extent, just that it's somehow still not happening. Also, given the way SML, SFL, and their family are, I really want the ML's revenge arc to include them too. Because somehow that family can get away with everything in this story.
Oh man, oh man, I just saw the teaser for episodes 17 and 18, hypocrite SML broke something inside ML, bro literally became Shen Du from the melody of the golden age. His new character intro, the aura he carries- I guess the black gloves are some kind of OCD, as he might be suppressing his feelings of guilt, etc, to stay sane (or maybe I am just overthinking). Well, it seems like he will leave FL in the town for a while until maybe he becomes someone above people like SML (well, SML did say ML will never be above his (SML's) father), or he did leave, or so, that she can be free.
The scene where Zhao Ling (ML) takes revenge against Lu Da Hu reminded me of Shen Du from the Melody of the Golden Age. It was so well directed; the background music, the tension, the pleading, and the face ML made with blood spilled over his face were all top-notch.
It's so infuriating to see how the spineless villains in this drama are somehow justifying their actions. The SML, SFL, SML's mother, FL's grandmother, the widow granddaughter-in-law, etc.
It will be so funny if the new maid of FL turns out to be the real Jiuweijiao. Because she seems suspicious to me, the way she was introduced and has somehow made her place so easily on FL's side. Also, the way ML just melted when FL praised him in episode 7, they already make such a good team.
It's so cute to see how similar ML and FL are; both are really good at heart but act all tough. It's only episode 6 where I am right now, but it seems they already have a soft spot for each other. I was grinning so badly when FL was holding the sword, trying to threaten the ML into her plans, while we all know (including him) how much she pleaded to save him too, even though it is a part of her plan; still, she chose to include him while painting a good image of him and not of some villain who needs to be prosecuted.
Wait, I just saw the teaser of episode 10. Did FL just propose to the ML? The way she described it was strangely convincing and beautiful at the same time. I may have misunderstood, but it seems to be the case.
I am only on episode 1, and the way they are treating the ML is already making me so mad! I know the writers are going to give us some backstory to explain it all, but it is just too extreme. He is actually trying to talk things out and stick to his principles, but literally everyone including the FL is against him. Sure, they’re setting it up so that the FL is secretly in his side, but on the outside? She treats him like absolute garbage. Imagine being in his shoes, living every day with someone who constantly shows you they hate you.
When she threw away that symbol of their relationship like it meant nothing, it felt like there was zero hope for fixing their marriage. But honestly? The only reason she feels comfortable treating him this badly is that she knows he will sit there and take it silently forever. The look on her face when he finally dropped the "divorce" word was pure shock—like, "Wait, you weren't supposed to do that!" even though she was going on and on about their marriage being completely broken. It is so obvious that something bad happened to her and she doesn't know how to deal with it, so she is just projecting all her anger and guilt onto him, knowing he’ll stay and take the hit.
"One can take things, but they don't necessarily become theirs" fits the SFL's character in the drama so well. She wrongfully accused FL and took FL's place in her company, projects, etc. She now even has FL's manager and assistant working for her. But the director of the project still wants FL for the role, FL's team is still loyal to her, and the company head, although he acts like a scumbag, feels like he has some agenda of his own going on in the background. Hope she pays for what she has done, instead of hiding behind her not-so-sobbing story.
Consider how the show is hinting at making ML find his passion and dream. I think it can be either or both of these things: 1. Fighting crime and corruption, as he has lived most of his life in the exact opposite way. 2. Having a real family of his own, where actual bonds govern the relationship, not just benefits, as his clients and his father (the actual one), etc., are in a benefit-based relationship with him. His friends and FL might end up becoming his real family or something.
Ep 18: What the hell is wrong with the Li Siblings? Le Jun is like, "Well, at least I didn't killed you; if i was ruthless enough, I would have killed you both," as if FL is supposed to feel any good about this whole situation. If by chance Le Jun was not caught and FL really didn't know who killed her mom, Le Jun would actually live as if nothing happened, blatantly around the FL. And then there is her brother who is like, "I won't be friends with you as you sent my sister to prison.", bro she killed someone and was actually going to kill all witnesses too. Like what the hell?
So they made the ML look so strong and powerful, and now they nerfed him with the concussion and blindness, i guess this drama is going to be sad and gloomy with lots of angst. And let me guess: he will live but will be blind, most of his family will die, he will either lose the army or will give it away, and retire to live in a forest with FL after 1-2 divorces.
I am in episode 4 at the edict part now, and when the emperor said, "No matter what edict i issue today, are you willing to stand with Xiao Wiyi, through fortune and misfortune, and share life and death?" it felt more like a marriage vowðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚😂. Like FL doesn't have a chance; we already have our dream pairing😂😂. Jokes aside, in my personal opinion, it's better if ML just overthrows the emperor and makes the SML the king; that way everyone gets the happy ending (although FL will be married to the SML then and this feels more like the climax of a drama, not the prologue), but that way the whole series would end in the next episode😂.
the story is all over the place!!! its a drama on law yet not even one case is clearly explained, we don't exactly know when one was closed and another one started, which ones are going on in parallel, which ones involve the ML and which ones involve the FL and which ones are being handled by both. No depth to the cases, no background, we are thrown straight into the courtroom. I like both the ML and FL and also the side characters so i am holding on just for the sake of seeing them all get a happy ending (really hoping the leads to end up together). Other then that the story just doesn't seem like one where the focus is on the cases or the lessons learnt from them, or redemption arcs, just nothing. Its hard to even tell what the main focus is in this drama.
So at this point, even if they start dating, it won't seem that convincing, nor do we have enough episodes to actually see them together. They do this very often with kdramas that have 12 episodes, the starting episodes are good with lots of scenes where leads are together, followed by complete and utter chaos, which feels like it's never gonna get over, and somehow 11th episodes and now everything make sense somehow, and is resolved, the leads are now together, and we have a happy ending.
