The drama is still good despite some flaws. There was a huge battle of words regarding that earlier and still…
I too know that what ML did was not a good thing but people not forgiving him no matter what actually surprised me. I guess they are just taking the route of if you lie you are a bad guy, if you kill then you are a bad guy, while many will agree with both the things above, what if the person lying is a loyal spy of a country trying to get information or what if the person who kills is the soldier who is assigned to protect people they will change their stance. I think Instead of general truth which is often the least applicable people should see things unbiased and judge in accordance with the situation and people at hand, they should be both pragmatic and emotional to some extent (I know it feels contradictory but facts coupled with right emotions are the ones that lead to good results). Well, at least that's what I believe.
everything is good and fine in this drama, the pacing is good, and the characters are loving but... The problem…
[Update] Okay so now it is somehow okay for He Zhen to marry a lord (ML's friend) who is also a businesswoman (and the same independent genre one) but our FL who is in the same situation with much much more supportive ML can't do the same somehow.
everything is good and fine in this drama, the pacing is good, and the characters are loving but... The problem I have with cdramas is that either they make MLs too cold and stern or they make them too gullible (especially for the FLs) either they are trying to kill her, or make her suffer, or are going around throwing their self-respect out of the window for the FLs. We have the later case in this drama (I am only at episode 27 so this comment is based on till that episode.). Isn't he "The Lord" who even makes the empress fear that he might take the throne after a few more accomplishments, or the brilliant strategist who pulled off all he did in the first half of the drama? But after the first half, he is being treated quite unfairly, he gets beaten by his mother for wanting to marry the love of his life (well that is okay to some point), and he is run over by the new king the moment he meets him, the FL freaking stabbed him and from that moment onwards treated him like a trash can over and over again, yet he is helping the king, alongside running around the FL like a puppy while she still treats him badly. At this point I think he should straight out leave her, I know love is important and all but he has done all he could from the start of episode 1 he treated her well, supported her, protected her, and tried all sorts of things to make sure she is happy, fought his family to marry her, trusted her even when he knew who she actually was, was even ready to die by her hands, isn't it all enough. But no, the writer is now going around throwing the independent FL card just to increase the number of episodes and in turn, we have to see him suffer even more. Previously when her assassination attempt failed I thought maybe this was because she was pushing him away but no for god knows what reason she thinks independence is not to marry, not to care about someone romantically, etc. At this point I feel sorry for ML and his guards, they all tried too hard, I hope he gives up and goes back to the capital and the writers should at least show some respect to ML's actions and feelings by making FL at least pretend to try to chase ML (which of course has never happened in the history of these kind of dramas but well sometimes we do hope for the impossible.).
quite an interesting drama, it takes a different approach where rather than having too many villains or a clear villain we have all these characters actually being political and keeping each other in check, and rather than rash assassinations we have some good well-thought-out decisions. Also, it seems as if the author has written the pacing pretty differently from other dramas, actually, it's not just this maybe this is a new trend where there are deliberate misunderstandings in the plot but they don't last long we have people who are actually talking in about 2-3 episodes instead of more than half of the drama. The couples (as in the newer dramas) appear more favorable of each other quite early in the story rather than going through the same coldness for 20 episodes. The love triangles too do not seem much like a threat but rather a part that makes the confession come early. I don't know a lot about dramas but I like this one. The difference in color and clothing at the start contrasted the difference in personalities of the 2 characters (one dark with white while the other colorful and cheerful) even when they were on the same street it seemed as one side there was a funeral possession going on during a light-hearted healing drama on the other. But as soon as they got married his side started to change which complimented his personality. Let's see if the story holds up till the end.
I know there is no romance in this drama but still the part in episode 10 where Han Su and Seo Jin are sitting at the bus stop sharing opinions felt so natural. They have contrasting personalities but are working towards similar goals and indirectly influencing each other to become better makes them an ideal pair if there was romance in this drama (not that I am complaining).
It's the first shape-shifting/curse drama where we are down to the last 4 episodes yet neither the ML (who is usually the first to discover) nor FL's parents know anything about it. Also, with episodes, there is even less info about the case that is supposed to be the plot for the mystery. From the very first episode if we count the progress it is that we have a new victim and a hint that FL's aunt might be a victim too. Other than that nothing, plus we don't even know about the serial murder case in-depth, no story of any victim or connection between them, and not much backstory either. I think in the last episode FL will just get kidnapped like she did in ep 12 and then ML will somehow connect all the invisible dots (invisible cause we don't know them at all) and save her, thus, solving the case as a side quest. The good thing about this drama is the slow burn romance of FL and ML (thank god they started dating in ep 12 at least something in the story changed after about 11 episodes since episode 1). This series would be so much better if there were more scenes of FL and ML together and about the case investigation, rather than the repetitive FL and SML scenes, the office scenes, the FL and her best friend's scene, and the elderly cleaning crew like I know they do seem as some scenes that will be repeated but every episode seriously every episode and that too without much change. One last thing, I have recently noticed that many dramas have romance tags in them even though they barely qualify to be slow-burn romance. Is it to draw in the audience? or is it by mistake? Not to mention this drama has wrong tags like student female lead, former soldier supporting character, and Idol male lead?????
I found the transition of the male lead falling for the female lead a bit unclear. Initially, she was just a witness,…
It was from the start that he was interested in her. He is portrayed as a cold uncaring character given how he is all crazy when he is working. If he was not that cold his assigned investigator would know about it. On the other hand, we can see how differently he treats FL right from the start although not considerate enough, each encounter was a step up from the one before, plus his expression, his smile (you can even see him laughing sometimes and he was even humming the song FL sang on the call), etc. are all signing towards his feelings for FL.
Episodes 3rd and 4th were straight out of fire. Although, the back-and-forth felt a bit repetitive but the combination of all the characters with their distinct roles and personalities keeps you engaged. Two things I especially found intriguing were, 1. There were a lot of Koo Han Su and Yun Seo Jin scenes (I hope they have more scenes in upcoming episodes it feels so good watching 2 contrasting characters together), 2. Sin Cha Il, Koo Han Su, and Yun Seo Jin felt like a real team this time around. The pacing of the plot is decent (a bit fast) and the ending scene of the 4th episode feels like the real story will start now.
Xiao Yi Xiao seems to be the chillest business owner ever, most of his scenes are dating, clubbing, drinking tea, and holding meetings. Rather than Han Ting, Xiao Yi Xiao feels more like someone from a rich family with generational wealth🤣🤣. Now, coming back to the main topic I feel Han Ting gives Zeng Di way too many opportunities to mess things up, he goes around firing people who don't follow him or do wrong stuff but he lets Zeng Di do whatever she wants while clearly knowing more or less everything she is doing (she is a CEO, he can get her fired I believe). I guess the writers are doing this just so that she can one day threaten FL's business and then make a deal with Han Ting where now Han Ting has to breakup with FL to save her business and the writers aren't doing it right now because FL's business is still in starting phase and their relationship hasn't started to get deep yet.
Wait aren't Shao Yi Chen (SYC) and Ji Xing (JX) in a really stable relationship, SYC seems like a nice guy too. Just tell me that our ML Han Ting isn't a homewrecker right? I am on episode 4. Unlike other dramas where ML or FL are in a relationship the other person is usually one with problems maybe they are cheating, or lying, or have family issues, or understanding issues, etc. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.
I am in episode 3 and I can pretty much predict that the way things are the SFL (Zeng Di) will lose both her company (as in losing in competition with FL's company) and also lose her most valuable investor (ML) quite soon😂 not to mention she will first lose her company's most promising engineer/programmer.
Pardon me, I know everyone including me are hating on SML but in fairness I don't think he has THAT many screen…
Although he has gone too far on some occasions, I still think they should have made him a positive character (he had quite a potential to be one) and I would love to see him move on and paired up with someone else. But I also believe if that was the case the story would become too simple because ML, FL, and SML together would be just too powerful, and right now the whole story's pacing is being affected by SML alone. Any other character apart from him as a villain doesn't seem like much to deal with. So I can understand why his character is written the way it is. Also, you hit the nail with "I think the majority are just annoyed that every single time he emerged, LR is staring at him with THAT kind of eyes.....😂 " Other than this I don't think there is much reason to hate him because villains do villain stuff that's why they are villains that's why people aren't annoyed by him but rather from the ambiance of the scene and FL's reaction.
I haven't seen any episodes after episode 22 as I sensed that something was gonna go wrong in the next couple of episodes I am hoping to watch them altogether when the drama ends (if I am able to hold out that long). But I had one realization today after seeing the trailer of some episodes on Twitter. There it was shown that ML gets a promotion and the king does not feel good about it and the situation becomes quite bad. But what I realized was that ML didn't get any promotion till now, even though he was involved in 2 of the biggest cases, let's say his involvement in the first case isn't that big but the 2nd case kind of depended on him to a large extent. Yet, he wasn't promoted, and even though he is one of the people with the biggest potential the king has doubts about him being promoted, why? Well, I haven't watched the recent episodes but it feels like even though ML was shown to be the prime minister in the past life, in this life maybe it is the problem with the direction or the story itself that the ML being a prime minister in the past life doesn't feel that convincing. Although he does things from time to time that are really great the total screentime of his achievements is less than the impactful scenes of the SML.
A lot of people commenting hate SRQ character, I can understand their concern.I wonder if a popular male character…
I think the hate would had be less if SRQ was being played by someone who had a good fanbase or was quite famous. Because people tend to ignore a lot of stuff just because they like the actor/actress from their role in another drama. Similar to how many people cheer even though their favorite actors/actresses are playing the role of a ruthless antagonist. But it doesn't mean that the character in the drama will be completely free from hatred, just like here the role of SRQ is written in a way that a lot of people may still hate him even though some popular actor played the role, even though they will be less (due to more density of comments) yet the harshness or hatred will be just a bit less from the present situation.
Wait the first episode was put up yesterday and as far as I know apart from some people who really have a keen eye for content, no one can how good or bad a drama will be just from the first episode. Yet we see a 5.8 rating, one at least needs 4 episodes in a 12-16 episode drama, and some drama actually takes 6-8 episodes to set their story up. I won't say the first episode is too good, but it wasn't too bad either. This episode gave hints that the company is quite corrupt, we have a power struggle going on, and our ML (Sin Cha Il) has some trauma from the past maybe similar to what we had in "Numbers", the SML (Koo Han Su) is a rookie with potential who will grow into a reliable auditor and partner towards the end of the drama. The SFL is also awesome (I don't know if there will be romance but if it does it will most probably be between SFL and SML), she is similar to ML when it comes to professionalism but is also too distant making her less human, SML will learn to be professional while SFL and ML will become more considerate and kind. The other members of the team are gonna create problems but they have good teamwork so maybe after a while they will also be back on track. There is a mystery going on regarding the crane incident, and the first arch of the drama will be focused on that I suppose rather than the complete drama (because of the pacing). Let's see how this drama moves forward, I really like "Numbers" it has teamwork, bromance, romance, thrill from the investigations, good cliffhangers, etc. And if this drama takes a similar track I think it will do good although I am not sure at this point.
It's always the cold CEOs aren't they, they will take all the time in the universe to spell out the simplest of confessions and would rather not say anything even if they know they are hurting their other half (if someone didn't understand the reference I am talking about the FL). I know the plots where one character is cold and the other one is soft, are always one-way love stories nearly till the end, where the cold character who holds themselves back for an infinite number of reasons suddenly decides they want a relationship and until then the softer one in the relationship (who doesn't have the upper hand) suffers through the who part. Also, I am quite sure they will also use the plotline where the cold CEO instead of confessing their feelings and choosing the one they love will for some reason (mostly due to blackmail) reject them. And the way SML is I am pretty sure he can go that low. I have a feeling that after seeing ML suffer throughout the drama he will once again get rejected until maybe some 4-5 episodes are left while we will still have to see SML's face for far more than the necessary amount of time. Plus our SML is not just dreaming of getting the girl but also becoming the prime minister this time bro if only ML hadn't become soft and more human in this lifetime the SML wouldn't even receive a chance in any of these matters (ML can keep an emperor's consort in check just by saying few words and silence most of the ministers with his words alone while defending FL on the side and not hurting the big picture. You can't just learn to do these things). Although I am ranting here I still don't think FL is completely wrong here, well considering how bad her parents are when it comes to relationships and her upbringing, we can kind of understand why she can't trust anyone and can't let her guard down. Also, accepting ML means having a weakness that can be targeted, like how ML even though he is a resource couldn't see through what FL was trying to do because he was more concerned about his confession and her answer, she too might end up making such mistakes.
who the hell is the SML to judge the ML, like seriously The plan was brought up and executed by both ML and FL, it's not like he forced her into doing this, and bringing in noble families or appeasing them is just good in the short term but will be fatal in the long term. Just seeing them having the gal going around doing stuff like kidnaping the princess, selling weapons to the enemy army, fixing war results, and killing thousands of soldiers by tampering with war resources, even when they aren't completely in power yet makes me think how short-sighted SML is to think the nobles will not do anything to the imperial family or the people of their country once they have all the power present in the empire. Also, if it's about forcing her to do something isn't SML the one who is going around doing things in the name of * trying to help her* or *for her own good* crap, he thinks she will be happy when all the noble families are in charge of their lives and her family is nothing more than puppets walking around eggshells trying to survive. And why the hell FL didn't shut SML up when he asked her to marry him, like how low he needs to go for her to see that he isn't what she thought him to be? he seriously asked (more like trying to force her) to marry him as ML just died and she has no power now, does it make sense to ever trust someone like him? Although I haven't watched episode 18 completely yet (I am at the bridge scene) if FL still can't understand her feelings for ML even after nearly losing him and writing all those letters to him and what not, I don't know what will ever make her realize them.
So I take it then that we universally hate SRQ? 😂I wonder if there are others who actually like him.
Agreed💯💯, I thought as his family is same (more or less will be safe) in this lifetime he can help ML and FL in completed their dream while he will also gain a lot of influence and power ultimately leading to his happy ending. But he is too shameless I guess, I seriously didn't like his, his brother's, and FL's mother's behavior in the recent episodes.
