MZ is traumatised by the death of his mother in the hands of Liang Gui Fei. Her dead body was thrown into a well. He is not even able to retrieve the bones in the current life unless he becomes an emperor.

At one point i think muze really love anran, but as anran said at the begining, he loves his power more than her
MZ is attracted to LAR.

But, he finds power offers more security, he confides to Mu Chuan in Episode 15. With power, he can demand what he wants. He is a soldier so he only understands order and command and demands.

The emperor has only three living sons: Prince Yi is useless; Prince Qing is too scheming; and Prince Qi or aka Ninth Prince is kind and uninterested in the throne.

If I were the Emperor, I would give the throne to Prince Qi knowing that he will not kill his brothers. Prince Yi will kill Prince Qing and vice versa.

Does anyone know who the Ninth Prince's mother was? We know that both children were neglected due to the early death of their mothers.

The emperor seems to favour the 9th Prince compared to Prince Qing.

I never knew that there was a prequel to this series. I've always seen this story produced by TVB and a Taiwanese TV production company (Mimi Kung and her husband were in this series).

Yes, MC gets stabbed by assassins in the ending clip. LAR stabs MZ at a funeral. Whose funeral is it?

Not only that, MC stabs LAR in one scene. LAR's outfit and hairstyle suggest she's now a married woman.
