I see, I thought it had something to do with the one child law set about ten years or so ago (don’t quote me on the years lol) that having twins was bad or something.

In the novel she is 17 when she married SM., the second episode of the drama stated her parents married for almost 10 years, so she is roughly 8 or 9 depending on when her mom conceived. I believe they chose her character of a teen to depict her as more mature than her age. In that era they do marry young so Ming was probably 13 or 14, but because she consummated her marriage they can’t use a young star for censorship, so they upped the ages of all the characters. That’s what I’m guessing.

Can someone explain to me why it’s so shocking to have two sets of twins in this drama? Are twins forbidden in China or something?

A lot of people thinks it’s not written well, but I think director did a great job with limited time. The clues of SH has always been there. The cat for example. He was too attached to it, no one would not eat just because their cat wasn’t there. Signs of mental instability or very insecure, And he’s always listening to his dad. Also SM didn’t trust him with any of his answers upon looking at his face before he fully embodied his evil self. SM gave him plenty of chances to come clean too! That child already had it in his mind he need to secure his place somehow.

I believe half siblings. As far as having empress die with him, it’s because he doesn’t want the harem to be involved in politics. It can also be said that he’s afraid of her being in power.

The family knew later, as was mentioned by her dad to his brother. I believe however she only told grandma how it was obtained. It’s also normal for ML to give the decree and no one would think anything about it as he’s done it before in WS trial.

Sadly with all the regulations and censorship’s that China has on the filming industries it’s practically impossible to even do more than these recycled stories. I feel directors and producers can do so much more if they weren’t restricted.
