And there are serious and mature jdrama characters as well. Just don't generalize if you had only watched less that 10 jdramas.

There's a lot being released in Netflix right now. I'd recommend "Learning to Love" if you want an unusual love story and "Why I Dress Up for Love" if you're into cohabitation trope.

I agree with your comments below. Some people assume that jdramas are bad. That not a single jdrama is better than a kdrama or cdrama. I’ve experienced that myself.
I always tell a friend whenever I watch a great jdrama. But she tells me that Japanese actors act poorly. That their voices sound weird. I replied that maybe she’s confusing them with anime and asked her what jdrama she had actually watched to say that. None. She just assumed it because she read it somewhere.
I managed to convince her to watch "Drawing Closer" and "18×2 Beyond Youthful Days". But when it comes to jdrama series, she doesn’t want to waste her time.
