2 episodes in, but I m not getting all the hype for this drama! Looked pretty average in these 2 episodes so far. Should I continue, does it get better?
For me, some cases were even predictable. Who knows how long we have to wait
I don't mind waiting, i won't mind even if there is no s3 as I m not attached to anyone else except JCT here n I want him to see in different roles n different cp rather than this similar average drama, it's not even grand like STOTD to not mind more successful seasons. It's reception this season was quite average n it didn't help JCT much anyway like it did in s1. So no s3 will also do for me. I would rather see him in different ckts specially costume dramas than in average dramas like this.
If there is a s3 I hope they change scriptwriter n gives more realistic and chilling cases with emotional touch. As I said earlier Some cases this season felt like it's psychologist dealing with criminal mentality patients rather than crime bureau cases. Though they wanted to be different than cliche route for this type of genre but sometimes trying to be too different doesn't guarantee good results.
I hate iqiyi😤 i decided to watch all episodes from 21 to 28 in one go but didn't knw will have to wait for 84 yrs for doing so. Why did they do this with only this drama!!?? Why didn't they release all episodes for international fans as well?
Honestly tried reading the novel few days back and I read it till the part shown in today's episode where he is rescued from the jail by evryone, but felt bored so I gave up n so I wasnt excited to watch this drama but still gave a try for WHD,so far it's good, following the novel very closely, not very serious tone bt light hearted but I won't say its the best but better presented than the novel, first 2 episodes I didn't get the hang of it but after half of 3rd episode I was hooked. Hope it gets better.
I f*cking hate the novel fans of that novel which isn't even that good or unique, there's nothing novel in that novel even n specially now wen many rebirth n revenge dramas r already there n even going to be more in coming days, it's going to be another cliche drama n if not good direction n acting then it would be a dud only. So y the hell those rebirth of malicious novel fans bashing JCT for jst a melon while wishing wooden actors for their fav XJX ckt, lol. It seems they jst want visuals to be good, acting can go to hell! Well I also wish the same now for them to get some wooden actor as their beloved xjx. 😤
The ML so tall and FL so small, chubby. I imagined Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi when reading this novel😁and when…
Sorry the reply wasnt to you, I replied to the one who deleted her comment. I don't object to ur wish at all. Everyone can wish their biases to be casted but shouldn't ridicule someone else's biases jst for a melon/rumour.
The ML so tall and FL so small, chubby. I imagined Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi when reading this novel😁and when…
I have seen comments like that only on X too, when it's jst a melon, talking about his height to reject him is like ridiculing him when he is also aware abt it, also in lost u forever also people said this wen he got casted as xianglu but he then shut everyone's mouth later with his acting that people loved him so much as xianglu. So its really unfair to judge n reject someone like that. I can also judge so many choices here for xjx for various reasons then as I m also novel reader, u say if their fans would attack me or not??
The ML so tall and FL so small, chubby. I imagined Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi when reading this novel😁and when…
The height doesn't matter much as long as the ML has a bful face and more than that acting skills to look arrogant, scheming, romantic handsome with peach blossom eyes, these r the things highlighted in the novel, not his height, I have read the novel too n knw his height was not mentioned as much as his face n arrogant lazy appearance which matches tanjianci. And at the end, it's the platform n casting directors which gets to decide it all, so people trying to act as casting Gods here needs to sit back b4 passing judgments, if the fl or ML isn't of ur choice, best thing is not to watch the drama n be happy with reading novel n imagining ur favs forever in it.
TAN JIANCI TAN JIANCI!!! TAKE A BOW 🧎🧎. What an actor! What a mind-blowing performance! U deserve all the awards for today's performance. Pls give him all the awards in the world👏👏
Ok, so how many of us actually noticed that there's Shen Yi face on window behind Shen Yi and Du Cheng, in official…
Woww! There really is!! I wouldn't have noticed if u didn't point it out here. Such intelligent n artistic thought. Very few people would have noticed it.
Thanks for posting this, but I'm not seeing it. The biggest complaints have been about Du Cheng and the relationship…
U r not seeing the complaints? I saw few here only. Idk wat ppl on douban or other platforms r saying bt looking at the low douban scores I felt people had downrated it due to those complaints only
Now this explains the reason behind all of our complaints of this season and synopsis of this seasons all cases in few words. Producer Zhang Yiyun and screenwriter Zhang Lai talked about Under The Skin 2
When people used to talk about Chinese crime or suspense dramas, the keywords that often came to mind were gloomy tones, retro backdrops, and middle-aged male protagonists. However, Under the Skin doesn’t conform to any of these “standards.”
Producer Zhang Yiyun explained: “Traditional crime dramas often focus on realistic styles, hardcore reasoning, and strong plots to tell stories. But we’ve been exploring how to create a non-traditional crime drama in terms of narrative style, visual aesthetics, and thematic expression. For example, we avoid overly complicated cases, gruesome criminal methods, or overly brain-twisting reasoning processes. Instead, we focus on the dramatic changes in character fates and relationships, using them as the core suspense and plot twists. The show emphasizes the emotions and humanity behind the cases.”
Zhang Lai said: "Writing about crime is not to showcase evil, but more importantly, to explore the multifaceted nature of humanity. Good and evil stand side by side, but love is the antidote to redemption, and the law is the thunderbolt that punishes evil. This is our ultimate message."
The Under the Skin series tells its story through Shen Yi's perspective, so the puzzles are naturally solved by him." Zhang Lai added: "'Drawing the heart' is actually another level of exploration for a forensic artist after capturing the likeness and spirit of a person. In the second season, Shen Yi aims for breakthroughs beyond his achievements, using this method to make society better."
If the drama is good by the end, the neutrals can vote it high, there r instances where drama opened low n then…
But still it seems they r under pressure for the popularity of this drama hence doing all kinds of promotion tactics n jia ge even said that if popularity soars to 30k then they will talk Abt s3, it means drama is expected to have more popularity than it's having rn.
Seeing season 2 Douban rating 6.8 now I'm preety sure, that,1. Haters in disguise did mass downvoting against…
If the drama is good by the end, the neutrals can vote it high, there r instances where drama opened low n then went high. I hope it gets better becos uptil now it was actually mediocre with only 2-3 cases which really were touching. Also people seems to b pissed that du cheng is passive in this season mostly. So they downrated it probably.

Despite its open-ended narrative, Under the Skin 2 takes a different path in the mystery genre, focusing on elements that resonate more deeply with audiences.
