I’m being 100% honest here.. These two leads might have the best chemistry in all Cdrama and that is comparing vs hundreds of S-tier dramas.. Their short dramas together even though they are max 30-60 min long has more life and vibrance then most 40 episode and 40-60 min runtime episode big dramas..
Amazing honestly… Hoping they get a chance to level up to at least a 10 per minute episode drama next they are great!

I didn’t interpret that it was a true good ending though, I mean yeah FL went back and met the guy in her time she had a crush on but that’s not the same ML that’s still stuck in the past he was left alone.. While FL just forgot about all that they had gone through and just moved on in 1 second to for the new fling with the modern guy with no history..
I hate those types of timetravel/alternate universe dramas, unfortunately there a few where they just go back and meet some clone that’s actually not the same guy except visually and the leads just move on like nothing.. It makes everything that happened and all the setbacks and redemptions etc totally unnecessary, they just move on and forget about it choosing looks over love..
It was what all those metafors and flashbacks when Han Yasi and Weishan watched the sunsets etc, it was never the poision that kept people from leaving Wufeng.. If you spend to much time in the dark no light can or will save you.. There are no way out except sacrifce/death.
No he said he was told to fantasize about an ending and he acted like he saw two Weishans.. But that is not the director or writer’s official ending it was Zhang Linghe’s imaginative acting/wish..
But even if it was the official ending, that ending is really the worst case scenario because it would mean they are forced to come back for a mission for Wufeng.. At least if no one had come back then Ziyu could have lived in a fantasy that Weishan chose to be free and is out there somewhere..
Even if she would now comeback alone or with her sister the whole Yun family is under Wufeng’s control so they are only allowed to return because Wufeng allowed it.. Meaning they are forced for a mission but this time they have Weishans whole family hostage.. Meaning it’s as bad of an ending as it gets, she needs to betray or get her family killed again.
It’s the moral of the story, no one can escape their dark past as Weishan and Han Yasi talked about through the whole show.. Once Wufeng the only way out is death like Han Yasi chose.. There are no happy endings for murderers/assassins
No, Shangguan is alive pregnant, not killed. Yws was killed off by wufeng, replace twin evil person.
No one can escape Wufeng.. That’s the whole point of the show.. It was never the fake poison that kept people from leaving.. Even if they left they were killed if they fail their missions, just like Weishans sister they tried to loophole her out but she got caught and killed. Han Yasi and Weishan talks about it through the whole show, it’s the whole metafor of them watching the sunset and why Han Yasi never could leave either.. When you’ve lived in the darkness to long no light can save you..
Wufeng is ruthless you can’t escape.. That’s what the last scene with Weishan proved, she found out Wufeng was controlling her family all along and not even after defeating what they thought was the enemy it was just back to square one.. Her family controlled by Wufeng so if she couldn’t even escape Shangguan definitely didn’t stand a chance, she’s not alive that’s just worthless happy thinking, she 100% got captured by Wufeng or killed.

But they were basically engaged and was going to live together and bought a house.. Then she just substitutes him with his brother so fucked IMO, and the brother as well.. That’s some Hunter Biden sh**, just hooking up with his brothers widow as soon as he died.. Should be some restraints and boundaries ffs..
I can’t stand the inconsistency and total meltdown of the FL.. She breaks the doctors heart and unfortunately it leads to his death, she catches him on his deathbed and is remorseful, regretful and claims she still loves him for like what, 1 day? She goes on this rampage to fight for their home because she “loves him” and wants the memory to then just forget about him.. The the rest is flirting and hooking up with his brother… So much for remorse and loving her dead boyfriend…
Drama really lived up to it’s name, yeah I guess the boyfriend is shedding tears in heaven watching what she does.. Can’t think of any drama I felt this uncomfortable about a “hooking up with siblings” plot, because those usually at least som humor or misunderstanding or wife/husband swap or something.. This was like man poor doctor getting his heart broken, dying then watching your ex spend 10 seconds of crying before hooking up with your brother…
I’m not saying people never can move on but this was uncomfortable
If we are to believe Zhang Linghe himself that his interpetation of the ending was ”happy” snd that he saw bith sisters walking through the gate then thats actually thr worst case ending.
Clearly the Yun family was always under the control of Wufeng as we saw in brief flashback, that even the twin sister recognized Han Yasi after he woke her up. Then we see the mysterious leader already there when Weishan returns, then panning to her scared twin.
All this obviously hinting at if they were allowed to return to Gong residence it’s for a mission for Wufeng and this time Wufeng has the leverage of Weishan knowing they have her whole family hostage.. Basically there’s no escape, possibly her mother and others hostage or this time they actually are poisoned with something and will have to ablige..
Either way, the fact that they were allowed to return will mean they either will have to betray or whole Yun family will die including both of them so.. Them not returning at all would at least mean some kind of peace, then Ziyu could have at least dreamt Weishan was finally free..
Also most likely Shangguan was killed by Wufeng because she failed to get the blueprint so really a sad ending but I actually loved the ending because of it.. It was fitting, happy endings don’t fit all stories and this was perfect ending for this story… Because as Weishan even said herself, she shouldn’t get a happy ending she has to much blood on her hands, she was a brutal assassin and no matter how many good deads it wouldn’t be fitting for her to ride off in the sunset.. Her and Han Yasi talked about it tons as well, when you lived in the dark for to long there really isn’t any light that can save you..
It says 20 episodes here and seen them all but the ending really didn’t feel like a season or series ending?? Nothing is resolved yet, is the series on pause or what happened.

She was the only good thing about Back From The Brink and she’s also a bit quirky and funny like Cheng Yi so I think it could be a perfect match!
